Weeknd features have never really connected tbf. Yes we've had Love Me Harder, Low Life and You Right but Lust for Life, Lost in the Fire, 6 Inch, The Curve, Comin Out Strong, Over Now, FML, all his Belly collabs, hell even Ariana's second Weeknd collab - off the table wasn't the smash deepcut. a Weeknd guest feature has rarely been a sure fire hit. Also Roddy Ricch was never as big as Abel, Drake, Taylor, Adele, or hell even Lil Baby so him underperforming isn't that much of a surprise. Roddy's debut was huge, though. He should have easily debuted higher. Perhaps but it was the combination of bad reviews + releasing it right in the middle of the Christmas freeze. Can't blame Roddy too much for the former

When I first watched it Bruno is really the one that stood out for me! I'm glad it's blowing up. Among other Encanto songs, I hope Dos Oroguitas will get some love too although being in full Spanish might be hindrance but it's a beautiful song too.

I think a big difference is that you intentionally do it just to be an ass as you recently admitted. I didn't state that, so please stop misquoting me. At any rate we can move this to private messages, or at least not clog the Hot 100 thread. you don't get to accuse me and Rosa of being bullies over a joke and then play the bigger man

Predicted to debut in the top 40 for the week of 1/8 (would be top 20 without leftover Christmas music), might ascend to the top 10 this week. Aside from non-existent radio, the song is doing well in virtually every category.

Songs from animated Disney movies in the top ten of the Hot 100:
“Zip a Dee doo dah”: #8 (1963) (Partially animated, so I’m counting it.) “Beauty and the Beast”: #9 (1992) “A Whole New World”: #1 (1993) “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”: #4 (1994) “Colors of the Wind”: #4 (1995) “Let It Go”: #5 (2014)

It's a damn shame though the version of A Whole New World that went to number one isn't the one from the by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga, but the boring studio cover by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle that no one remembers. Same with Beauty and the Beast, it's not the one by Angela Lansbury, it's the one by Peabo and Celine Dion.
The Elton John cover of Can You Feel is better than the movie though so I'll take that one.

At least the "Let It Go" that hit top 10 is the Idina Menzel's version and not the Demi Lovato's version.

Were any of Queen Ariel's soundtrack songs released as singles? Though being pre-Soundscan makes it hard to compare.

Were any of Queen Ariel's soundtrack songs released as singles? Though being pre-Soundscan makes it hard to compare. Nope. TLM soundtrack peaked at #32 on the album charts. The movie did well at the box office but did not become a phenomenon until it hit home video, where it sold millions of copies. The soundtrack has since gone on to a 6x platinum RIAA certification, though.

Idina's Let It Go was mostly powered by sales right since the Demi version was the one sent to radio. It could have really gone to #1 given how massive it was,
Power ballads were such big hits in the 90s so the single versions of Beauty and the Beast and A Whole New World were such huge hits. Beauty and the Beast especially works so well as standalone single and still gets radio airplay in my country.

That was Disney's thing. They'd have the movie version, then they would have someone record the mainstream/pop version which would be given the commercial push (probably because it would be more 'accessible' to audiences than the movie cut. It's the same formula they were following with 'Frozen' and having Demi on the pop version of 'Let It Go', or with Zayn & Zhavia Ward doing 'A Whole New World' for the Aladdin live-action remake. Only in the streaming age, people can just go straight for the movie versions if they want which undercuts Disney's strategy. I think after what happened with 'Let It Go' it says something that they're ditching the 'pop version marketed as hit version' model and letting songs do whatever they'll do.

Oh no, I understand it was a different time and economy. It's just never gonna be not salty that the white toast cover is what charted and not the actual Disney rendition.

Predictions for Dawn FM:
-probably like 3 top 10 debuts given how weak the charts are atm
-If the song with Lil Wayne gets released as a single with a video I could see it challenging for the #1 spot
-Tyler gets his first top 10
-The first obvious pop single pick also enters the top 10
-Overall 5-6 songs in the top 20

The Dawn FM cover is making me worried that there's going to be a trend with album covers being made as bizarre as possible so that people start making memes out of them, just like with CLB
Not saying that this is anywhere as awful or lazy as CLB, but it isn't a good sign imo because I could totally see huge artists like Post Malone, Justin Bieber or Doja Cat following and that would make album artworks a whole new thing to worry about

Hopefully the cover is a bad omen for his album. Not that I don't want it to be successful, but I just hope he doesn't end up blocking a number of songs for weeks on end reaching new peaks. Mainly the likes of "Cold Heart"/"Enemy"/"Woman"/"abcdefu"/possibly "Happier Than Ever". Also I'm hoping "Easy On Me" manages to hold onto the #1 spot for a couple more weeks! But it'll be on 300 points at the most, which shouldn't be too difficult for The Weeknd to overcome if he releases a music video/pushes the second single from the album when released. Although it's possible most of the tracks do somewhat similarly to "Take My Breath" with no clear stand out.

Anyone expecting another After Hours blockbuster era probably needs to temper their expectations.
That leaves plenty of room for it to be a success on it's own way though.

He'll probably debut with one song (2nd single?) in the top 10, and probably 3 or 4 songs in the top 40. p.s. that album cover is...I hope he's joking with us.

Wtf. A tragic mess. It'll certainly have people talking though which may be the goal. We live in a world where Drake released an album with a series of emoji of pregnant women of various ethnicities. While this is not a good album cover, it is nowhere near that lazy or tragic. It may in fact be related to some sort of overarching concept that the album has, which would at least be something of artistic merit.
