If you’re considering it I’d love an extension by a day or two (I have a couple rankdowns due tomorrow)

First extra for today is another song you can rank right now in the Lost Hits Of 1978 Rankdown. The follow-up to their #1 soul hit "Serpentine Fire", it peaked at #12 on the soul chart and #32 on the Hot 100. Fantasy - Earth, Wind & Fire
Next, one of their 12 Top 10s on the soul chart, peaking at #3. It also managed a #38 peak on the Hot 100. Stay - Rufus & Chaka Khan

Fantasy is one of Earth, Wind and Fire's absolute best, IMO. I love the way it builds and the vocals just soar. Beautiful.
I love this quote from Eric Henderson about Fantasy: “If there’s a heaven I expect this song to be heavily featured on the playlists.

So weird is that I hadn't come in this thread in awhile but just checked in as I'd forgotten the deadline. I read this post, and the weird part is I was cleaning out my attic today and had an old (from 2005!) issue of Blender where "Fantasy" is mentioned as "breathtaking." Meanwhile I'd love to participate, and I'll do my best to get this in tomorrow!

First extra for today is by a singer and bass guitarist from Mississippi who got his start touring with Stevie Wonder before working with Miles Davis. His biggest hit on the soul chart peaked at #3 and features vocals by Rena Scott.
Take Me I'm Yours - Michael Henderson
Next, a song by a woman from New Jersey who got her start performing with a few of her siblings and has also worked with acts like Elvis and Aretha Franklin. This song peaked at #5 on the disco chart and #32 on the Hot 100.
I should also mention that this woman is cousins with opera singer Leontyne Price, the aunt of Dionne Warwick, and the mother of one of the greatest singers of her generation.
Think It Over - Cissy Houston

I think I’m going to skip this one. Been a busy week and I’m more interested in the 90s series so I’ll join those, thank you.

First extra for today is a song from the Broadway musical The Wiz. First recorded by The Hues Corporation in 1974, it first hit the charts the following year by the group Consumer Rapport, whose version peaked at #19 on the soul chart and #42 on the Hot 100. The song was released 3 years later, this time as the theme song to the film adaptation of The Wiz. Performed by Dorothy and The Scarecrow, this version peaked at #17 soul and almost made the Top 40 on the Hot 100, peaking at #41. Ease On Down The Road - Diana Ross & Michael Jackson
Next, where it all began for this legend from Minneapolis. His first charted single peaked at #12 on the soul chart. It's another song you can rank in the Lost Hits Of 1978 Rankdown. Soft And Wet - Prince

Submitted. This was tough. There are only 1-2 songs I don't care for. There were about 3 songs I didn't know, one of which I loved and made my top 5.

First extra for today was the follow-up to her #1 soul hit "Our Love". It peaked at #6 on the soul chart.
Annie Mae - Natalie Cole
Next, what would become the signature song for this former member of Tower Of Power, despite never being released as a single. It was notably sampled in Twista's 2004 song "Overnight Celebrity".
Cause I Love You - Lenny Williams

This list was so cool. Big hits and great discoveries (for me) all mixed in together. Nothing bad, just some less good than others imo. The Commodores were so badass btw, how did Lionel end up so boring once he went solo??

Agree on the strength of the list. And the extras too!
