It's the same people trying to discredit EOM. EOM was a hit/smash in every aspect. Most of today's smashes depend on airplay for its longevity. The goalpost moving to discredit Adele's success is lame but funny.

We all expected EOM to die after three weeks at #1. It has performed way better than anyone expected at the time of release, especially after that nasty second week drop.

I think radio holding on to EOM and Stay might actually be hurting their legacy. keep in mind that these things only matter to chart nerds, .000000001% of the population. No one else cares about the points breakdown but us, and it won’t effect anyone’s legacy in the grand scheme of things.

There’s like 4 people maybe who might think that. No one else thinks that. Everything will be fine.

I could see Bruno getting a week at #1 if they do a huge ensemble performance, at the Oscars or something. Right now I'm not really sure, it's #1 on iTunes and continues to grow on streaming but no radio is a huge detriment. Easy On Me might be locked at #1 for a while.

spotify #1 bruno #17 easy on me
youtube #1 bruno #15 easy on me
itunes #1 bruno #7 easy on me
the latter having a billion radio dj's playing it should not block the consumer consumption smash.

I believe the Sebastian Yatra song is the only one sent for Oscar consideration so Bruno can't get the nod, unless Disney can do something at this late stage.

Oh yeah and usually the Oscars only let the nominated songs be performed, aside from a couple years ago when Eminem did Lose Yourself but that was also nominated previously. Maybe they'll let them perform Bruno because it's so huge right now? Probably not but an ensemble number would go crazy.

spotify #1 bruno #17 easy on me youtube #1 bruno #15 easy on me itunes #1 bruno #7 easy on me the latter having a billion radio dj's playing it should not block the consumer consumption smash. By that logic then purge Message in a Bottle from the charts already because a billion radio djs are the only reason it's still on any chart whatsoever.

Easy on Me has surpassed everyone's expectations, am i rite? I thought it would do better than 5 weeks topping streaming and 2 weeks topping sales. It is being spammed by radio more than I expected though so. spotify #1 bruno #17 easy on me youtube #1 bruno #15 easy on me itunes #1 bruno #7 easy on me the latter having a billion radio dj's playing it should not block the consumer consumption smash.

I think radio holding on to EOM and Stay might actually be hurting their legacy. People are viewing these songs as radio driven, even though they had some strong streaming numbers at the beginning of their runs. Radio moved on from G4u and KMM in a reasonable time, and (rightfully) no one calls them radio driven. Literally outside of chart watchers know, nor care, if a song is radio driven. Do you just not get that chart watching is such a niche thing? The GP isn't refreshing their Twitter feeds to see if a 2 year old song has re-entered the chart.

They're a bit late making this change... as in a year and a half late

They always save these big changes for the start of the year.
I think they might have been fine with Dynamite but the 1 week wonders since really proved that this rule was needed.
And you know, their formula was the only one that made Butter seem like it was more popular than g4u.

It's only a matter of time before A*my finds a loophole to exploit, but in the meantime they'll just focus figuring out ways to maximize streams I guess.

It's only a matter of time before A*my finds a loophole to exploit, but in the meantime they'll just focus figuring out ways to maximize streams I guess. Meltdowns are happening right now but there are whispers of VPN usage to pass off as US streams for whatever their next release is. Free VPNs are usually using known IP addresses that are easy to filter (hence why Netflix and other sites do not work while using them). So it's gonna be an uphill battle (& not all the paid options work either).

The one downside to this rule change is that it will send My Universe tumbling down the Hot 100, perhaps gone as soon as this week given what's coming. Shame that it just didn't catch on the way it should have and will be the first #1 hit in decades to get caught between Billboard's chart years.
Otherwise, this has been LONG incoming.
(EDIT: I just realized this went into effect for the most recent tracking week [1/15/2022], but wasn't announced until now, so by that metric MU didn't get hit as hard as I was expecting.)

I mean, they could price their new single at $0.39 and have multiple versions available. Like original, instrumental, remixes, alt covers, etc. but it will still be harder. I think singles with big pushes like Dynamite and Butter could debut at #1 but having longevity will be more difficult in the future.

Somebody find meg and make sure to take away all sharp objects from her I'm sure she's reading this thread through the tears right now. Hold on girl, your generic ass messy music is still gonna be there even if it doesn't go #1.

Yeah, they are absolutely going to do everything in their power to ensure BTS' next release debuts at #1 as they see this as a targeted attack on them, but it's going to be much more difficult to maintain.
