Whoever said BGDC wasn’t huge must’ve been asleep during the Summer of 2007. It was well received from the second it was sent to radio that May, and despite not being as prolific as “Umbrella” the song coasted through the entire summer basically being one of the biggest hits of the season, until finally reaching #1 in September which felt like was well after its peak. Comparing its run to all the other singles Fergie released, it’s unmatched.

TikTok impact can be seen in streaming platforms anyway To that end we don't know if any metric is a full song. You don't have to listen to a full song for a stream to count. Someone could switch the radio when a song comes on and it could still be counted. Someone could download a song and never listen to it, or never listen to the full song.

TikTok would be the same vein as when they used count non-official YouTube streams from any video that simply included an audio of a song. They’ve made it clear they don’t count that streaming as consumption anymore.
People view TikToks that randomly appear on their timeline with no awareness of what song is actually going to be included in the video. You don’t even know a song is going to be in it until you are watching.
I can see why they don’t include it… it would be a mess if labels started paying TikTok profiles with millions of followers to simply post a video with a song so it could automatically get millions of views counted for it.

Did a quick Spotify search and the most "forgotten" #1's in terms of Spotify streams are:
This Is the Night - 384k (lmao) Inside Your Heaven - 3m I Believe - 5m Doesn't Really Matter - 8m :( Bent - 27m Don't Forget About Us - 32m Thank God I Found You - 35m Stand Up - 39m This Is Why I'm Hot - 39m Incomplete - 42m Be with You - 45m
Do I Make You Proud isn't on Spotify.

^ The American Idol singles aren't too surprising, but Doesn't Really Matter and Bent I'd expect to be a little higher. Don't Forget About Us as well, though I guess for most people that was a flash in the pan hit that largely rode off of the success of We Belong Together and Shake It Off.

None of these song titles look familiar to me. I guess they really are forgotten

Keep in mind Spotify is just one platform for streaming. "Don't Forget About Us," for instance, has 340 million streams on Pandora. If you only looked at Pandora, it would seem like a well-remembered hit.

Alright, someone tag me when it's 2008...I'm ready to see Leona Lewis slay.
Also, watch the digital sales drastically increase this year.

I still play “This Is The Night” from time to time. If you were alive to remember Ruben vs. Clay, it was a great season and either one could have won. I voted for team Clay and saw him perform that song live. The judges wrote it off as another Idol winner single to please the fans… and fair enough, that’s exactly it turned out.
A lot of those songs are trapped in time but they were still a joy to hear back then. This was around the time that I first got into charts etc. at 11/12 and I’m glad I could fully experience the end of the CD single and rise of digital.

Since it's a deluxe track, you had to search for it or look in playlists to find it. Now that the deluxe version is the main version, it's easier to find.

But Pandora is mostly programmed streams right? I know they launched an on-demand subscription tier awhile ago, but I wouldn't think it's very big.

2008...i wanna know how close Chris Brown's With You and Forever to no. 1. Both stalled at no. 2, but faaaar more memorable, compared to his no. 1 Kiss Kiss.

That's it. I do not think we will be getting a breakdown of 2008. But I know Leona would've slayed the girls.

Now we can call this thread now 2008!
I did not use the AOL streams for this chart. Some of the airplay numbers (like 2 or 3) had to be estimated. I'd probably be off by a million or 2.
Low had the highest points for a week and highest digital sales.
Live Your Life had the highest impressions in a week this year.

Ok "Touch My Body" having the third highest total of the year! Those 3 consecutive weeks in August had the lowest totals.

another long wait 😭 who's doing these? LMAO. I have other stuff going on, and I was doing other Billboard projects. With these I spend time making sure every week is precise as possible and you have to find 52 weeks of data per year so obviously it takes time. I will try to get back to this on the weekend maybe. That's it. I do not think we will be getting a breakdown of 2008. But I know Leona would've slayed the girls. I didn't realize y'all were so eager either. I thought it was like an "ok neat I'll check the thread time to time" type thing. Looking at your table I believe the airplay is off by a decent bit for most weeks. I can post my version for comparison later when I assemble but I do think the excitement is nice, the recreation is good.... and this will be finished soon enough. Lol.

Private Dancer the 4/12/08 issue of Billboard said "TMB" had 115.7 million impressions the week it hit #1.

Actually when you look at the airplay peaks and the impressions and compare it to your previous charts it makes sense. Like for Britney and Coldplay. I used the billboard monitor, but I had issues with Low's audience impressions and towards the end of the year with 1 week.
