We need Taylor, P!nk, Ariana, and Bieber to do the halftime show before we consider new-ish stars. Miley too I really don't think some of these people would be able to put on a great - or even good - halftime performance. When was the last memorable Bieber performance?

Dua's established internationally, but USA audiences can't be bothered to check her music that much until radio and TikTok force them to. She's still building there.
We really don't need a Bieber Super Bowl btw. Honestly I would say Ariana isn't that great of a performer either but after the half assed shit Rihanna served anyone can just stand there and get by. Taylor will do it eventually, I'd say within the next 3 to 5 years for sure. Miley don't give a f she won't do it.
The new album cover is tragically bad.

I snatched an ultimate fan bundle + signed insert copy of the album. I initially was going to wait a couple of days to do so, but when I saw that it's already sold out on her EU store (as well as others bundles), I went ahead and bought it from her UK store. I mean, I didn't want to repeat what happened with Future Nostalgia when I missed the pink variant of the vinyl four years ago.
As a side note, I found interesting that it was cheaper that the package was sent to Peru instead of the US.

Dua is thriving internationally, and she deserves all the success. I think she's done quite well in the US, but I just fear this album isn't going to have much impact on her career being pushed further. Side note, I'm also not a fan of the cover. If I had to short list artists that I think deserve the SB - Taylor Swift
- Drake / Nicki Minaj / Lil Wayne (all for one show, but any of them could truly headline solo)
- Britney Spears -- but I am not sure she can do it herself right now, so I would dream team this with a little Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande cameo)
- Adele
- Pink

Britney is not gonna happen. She's not in a place where she can deal with thst kind of pressure, and I'm sure she's still too risky for the NFL.
Drake would be the most boring show ever, have you seen his concerts? Lame. I do think a Young Money combo could do well but I feel like even Nicki who is easily the one with the best stage presence might not be a top choice for them (it doesn't help that she keeps making enemies left and right in the industry).
Adele declined already because she feels like she can't put that sort of spectacle. Adele would work wonderfully as a guest I think. Come on stage kill it with your voice for 3 mins and leave.
Tbh anyone who isn't Taylor Swift is likely their second choice. The moment she drops her last TV it's over for any other contender.
Hear me out... Imagine Dragons might actually kill it if picked.

I actually agree on almost every point here. The wish list is more of that... wishing. I know Britney probably will never happen at this point (a tragedy, because talk about somebody that would have crushed it in her prime). I paired the Young Money crew because they would probably do a great show, and the Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar mashup did really well (I thought). I would really enjoy an Imagine Dragons set. We haven't had a pop rock set since Coldplay in 2016.

Kylie's not big enough in the US, but her show would be a SPECTACLE based off of her BRITS performance.
I do think Dua can get there, though and if she has a good cycle for her next 2-3 albums with at least one song even half as successful as Levitating per album, I think she could do quite well.
As for people in the interim before Taylor is ready, if Dolly could do the Cowboy's halftime show, why not have Cher for the Superbowl?

"Good In Bed" and "Boys Will Be Boys" were AWFUL. I know people want to paint FN as some flawless pop opus, but let's not pretend. GIB is a cute low-effort bop, and we don't acknowledge the existence of that other song!

At the moment Taylor would be doing the NFL a favor by accepting their offer. She doesn't really gain anything when she's performing the equivalent of a SBHT every night on the Eras Tour. I think it'll be years until she does it, if/when she needs a career resurgence.

Dua mentioned the track "Illusion" as the 'eureka moment' when she was making Radical Optimism. You talk about your eureka moment. What was that for you?
It was a song called "Illusion." That was a song where I felt like lyrically, I got this radical optimism. I felt very strong in the moment when I was writing that song, because it was really seeing past someone's bullshit, I guess, for lack of a better word. And understanding it for what it is and just entertaining it for the hell of it, even though you see what's happening. But I felt in a stronger power of position, because I was like maybe before, I would have fallen for something like this and now I can dance with the illusion, and it's something for me too, you know? I think musically also, when Kevin and Danny came together and it was the live drums and the synths and the big music breakdown, in my head the big dance moment, when all those came together it was just a feeling. I had a feeling and I was like, now I have something to bounce off of.

Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5... All acts known for pumping out radio bops, none known for shifting the music landscape or having a 40 year legacy. If they were all deemed fit to headline the SBHT, I don't see why Dua wouldn't be in the next few years. (Also, Dua has a year-end Hot 100 #1 song (something not even Katy has) and the longest-charting female song of all time) Lol, be real now. Katy Perry has 14 top 10 singles, and a whopping 9 #1 singles BEP has 10 top 10 singles and 3 #1 singles -- and that grows when you add in Will.I.Am and Fergie's solo stuff, which totals an huge 19 Top 10 singles and 7 #1 singles Maroon 5 has 15 top 10 singles and 4 #1 singles (17 top 10 singles if you count Adam Lavine solo work) These artists have not only dominated their respective eras at their peaks, but they have also sustained 20+ year long careers. They absolutely will still have music listened to decades from now and history will remember them as hit makers. Will.I.Am - if you dig into the additional hits he has produced or written for other artists, its insane. That man shaped so much of the music landscape in the 2000's. Katy literally was up there with Gaga reshaping the entire pop landscape that people tried to copy for years afterwards. To say Dua is on any of the levels of these artists is just wild. This doesn't take away from Dua's amazingness and talent, but her resume doesn't stack up at all. And to be quite frank, as a fan of Dua, this next album doesn't appear to be throwing her into superstardom, stadium tour sell out, legacy territory. "Almost 200k people are in the queue for the “Radical Optimism” show in Berlin in todays pre-sale"

I have never encountered a single person in real life that has said they use WhatsApp. Is it more popular outside the US?

It's popular in LATAM countries and I think some people in European countries use it too. However, I'm kind of sure there's another IM which is used in the US instead when people sign up to her official site and give their mobile phone.

We need Taylor, P!nk, Ariana, and Bieber to do the halftime show before we consider new-ish stars like Dua and Harry. All of those have likely said no the Superbowl multiple times. Remember Superbowl only pays in exposure while the artist usually chips in millions for production. Those artists don't really need or would benefit from more exposure. NFL has had trouble the last few years in getting A-listers to say yes as the economic calculus is usually not there. Dua Lipa has a good chance if she wants it because she has enough hits especially if she is spilts it with someone else.

New song coming on the 11th.....It is the closest thing to FN, so far. Super super Pop. Its getting harder and harder to see this project as being a real departure from her previous sound. I'm gonna say that this is none of the eight tracks that were produced by Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle, including "Houdini" and "Training Season", judging by the description you give.

I guess I can discard that, lol. Anyway, if this is the closest in sound with Future Nostalgia, I think she should have released this as the lead of the project instead of "Houdini" and/or "Training Season", but I guess they were saving this due to "Dance the Night" (two songs with the same sound independently that they were released six months apart) or in case the aforementioned two songs didn't match the label's expectations. 🤷

I’ve enjoyed both songs that were released so far but I have to admit they are not that far of a departure from the FN sound. Which isn’t a bad thing because that sound works for her but I was hoping for a lil more risk especially after the talk about going a psychedelic pop route. I can’t be mad tho because she’s still giving us bops.
