80: wind of change - I like this song. It's one of the ones from this era that I've always liked. I wouldn't give it much a thought anywhere else but on this rankdown, I was one of the highest rankers.
79: november rain - I wouldn't call myself a GNR fan by any means. I don't really care tbh, but even I think this rank is too low. I'd probably say this is my favourite from them. Given a lot of what's left, I'm legit confused.
78: Gangnam Style - this is just silly and fun. Harmless but not something I'd consider greatest or best or even biggest of all time. There's a time and place for this but here (on this rankdown) wouldn't be it. Almost a perfect score too! My 79
77: sweet home alabama. meh. Jewel did a cover of this for a soundtrack in 2001 that I actually really liked lol
76. Hello. Of Adele's bigger hits, this is probably the one I'd be most okay listening to. The others (especially the big 3 from 21) I'm just over. 100% done with. Even still, I'm surrpised to be the highest rank for this (my #10)
75. Just the way you are. I've always thought this song was cute. It's cheesy but it's cute. Despite that, I'm surprised it's as high as it is considering some of the losses so far.
74. Highway to Hell. I'll echo my AC/DC comments from their last outing.
73. Halo. This is okay but it's probably on the blander end of Beyonce's hits.
72. Sultan's of Swing. This is cool. Definitely out too low. FTR: I'd have ranked Money for Nothing higher, but Walk of Life is my favourite DS song by far.
71. Call me Maybe. So, I am totally tired of this song because it's still always on the radio here. But, if asked what I think the perfect pop song is, this song will be my answer.
70. the final countdown. No love lost
69. Nothing else matters. no love lost. The only Metallica song I've ever really used was Until it sleeps
68. til I collapse. I love the eminem show album but I probably wouldn't recognize this song outside of it. It's always strange to see it referenced as one of his most enduring/streamed/biggest songs.

66. my heart will go on. you know what? I agree. This score was one of the greatest of all time. This is far from my favourite from celine but it was certainly a worthy moment in time.
65. i gotta feeling. i did like this for a hot minute. If it came on in a club, I'd be okay with it. Other than that, I'm not interested. Give me hey mama, my humps or even imma be over this one.
64. living on a prayer. almsot perfect score! my #61
63. Take me home country roads. This is a lovely song. It's one of those songs you always know of and you'll always recognize because it's so embedded into music history. I love Brandi Carlile's (first) cover of this that she did with Emmylou Harris.
62. Last Christmas. This song used to piss me off because it's not a Christmas song other than the utterance of "Last Christmas" lol. I've since pulled off on that stance. It's okay. Not on my go-to list of holiday tunes tho.
61. Someone like you. Like, I recognize that this is a great song. Impressive even. But, I'm just so tired.

Lemme join Rose in commenting on the last 20 reveals  : 80 & 79: Not much for me to say on both of these. I don't remember hearing these 2 songs much beforehand and they didn't click with me when listening to this rankdown. 78: The way I was like 12 thinking that Gangnam Style was one of the best songs ever :o Tbf it does kinda slap especially if it plays at like a wedding or something but I don't know if I ever actively want to seek it out. 77: Fun fact: I have learned a line dance specifically for Sweet Home Alabama. Anything affiliated with Alabama makes me feel kind of weird but the song itself is catchy enough to listen to. 76: Genuinely surprised to see Adele out in the bottom quarter. I know Pulse is obsessed with her but honestly some of her music hasn't held up the best for me due to radio's extreme overplay. Good this was her lowest song here. 75: I am very hit-or-miss on cheesy love songs lol. Honestly I've always had a soft spot for JTWYA, though that may be from me being a huge Bruno Mars fan growing up. 74: I should like this more, though parts of it kind of sound a bit off to me. Idk how to explain it really... 73: There are so many Beyonce songs that are better than Halo, why can't any of those be her most streamed song? 72: This song being on this list feels strange to me lol, most of the songs I have heard people talk about as "classics" and such but not this. Regardless, it's a solid tune that should have ended up higher but I'm not surprised due to unfamiliarity. 71: Wow, the pop favorites can't catch a break lol. Nowhere near CRJ's best, but it is still an iconic song. 70: Finally clear my bottom 10!! The Final Countdown is way too cheesy for me to enjoy. It's always come off as more annoying than enjoyable imo. 69: Happy that Enter Sandman is higher at least. 68: What is this doing out so soon! One of Eminem's best songs, I fear. The intro alone is so great to me. 67: No strong opinions here. 66: This is both bad and good lol. It is fun to sing along to in certain occasions but also I don't care about it enough. 65: I'm still thinking about the SNL skit about this song from a few weeks ago lmao. In theory, this song is kind of bad, but it is a nostalgic bop. 64: I liked this more when I was a kid but honestly it's a bit too cheesy now. 63: This has become a staple at the job I work at tbh, so I have really fond memories with it. 62: Last Christmas deserved top half and you all know it  Easily a Christmas classic, one of the best songs for the holiday season. 61: Echoing Rose a bit here, I'm just tired of hearing a lot of Adele's music. All of it just ends up being so overplayed to the point that I find myself not wanting to return to most of it. |

That's how I feel about a lot of the songs on this list. Even if I'm aware of how talented the singers/bands are, hearing them too much would play a bigger role in how I would rank the songs as the ones that haven't worn out on me would get ranked higher. And it does seem that songs from certain genres fare better than others on repeated listens.

Really, like I said before, so many of these songs amount to being great to listenable, but really it’s the overhype and overplay of the songs that did affect it for me. I mean as much as I’d love to harp on AC/DC and Guns N Roses, they’re really just passable for me. But man, having to see those same songs top lists over a ton of variety out there makes it often worse.
And I’ll admit, this sorta played a part with Metallica’s ranking. I’d probably feel better for like other stuff from them.
