^ it would also technically be his first solo top 10 hit as of course Whatโs Poppin was aided by its remix and he was a feature on Industry Baby. Nail Tech grew on me as well so hopefully it follows suit and peaks as high as the 2 hits mentioned above.

No. It vaulted from #18 to #8 because the remix had a day and a half of tracking, or something like that. It was still credited to the original that week, but it definitely would not have jumped that high without the remix.

Iโm just glad that Stay is going to drop out of the Top 5 and this will be the final week for Easy On Me in the Top 5. But why are you guys bringing Bad Habits back to the Top 10?

It got a remix with Bring Me The Horizon, plus radio has just not been falling fast enough. Those sales and streaming boosts should evaporate next week, though.

Plus, 50% of the top 10 managed to be on the 2010s decade-end list. 2017 - 4 songs by A-listers entered the top 10 at the same time.

^IIRC, those two top 10s were courtesy of the Grammys.

I'm making it illegal to listen to any song on the hot 100 rn that's been charting for over 20 weeks it'll be hard not having Levitating or any other good old hits but it's worth it to not have Bad Habits in the top 10 in *March 2022*

Like most decade-old EDM, both have aged terribly, but Pound The Alarm > Starships

A chaotic & iconic week for the charts That was an epic week. Given the Katy conversation recently โ itโs pretty amazing that during a week where the biggest news in music was the death of Whitney Houston and Adele sweeping the Grammys, Katy was such a surefire hitmaker that a new song from her could still overpower both of those events on the charts. (IMHO โPart of Meโ will always be her least memorable #1 โ I feel like the follow up โWide Awakeโ ended up as a more notable hit despite โonlyโ hitting #2.)

You know, 2012 was an epic year for music! My all time favorite personally One More Night spending 9 weeks at #1 (instead of Gangnam Style) ruined it for me. That alone drops 2012 below 2009 and 2010. For me, 2004 is the gold standard of music for the 21st century.

2012 was way better for R&B/Hip-Hop than it was for Pop in my memory, so it's a shame nearly all of the songs in that genre were having rather bad peaks at the time.
- "N- in Paris" - "Rack City" - "Climax" - "Love On Top" - "Adorn" - "Thinking Bout You" - "The Motto" - "Pour It Up" - "Mercy" - "Drank In My Cup" - "Beez In The Trap" - "Birthday Cake" - "Turn On The Lights" - "Bandz A Make Her Dance"
The nostalgia

I'm cool with "One More Night" as a song itself, but I despise it just with the fact that it is the song that prevented a #1 reign from an iconic and legendary song in "Gangnam Style"

I didnโt realize people still cared about โGangnam Styleโ so much. Lol Personally I could care less that it didnโt hit number one either. I thought it was cute for a moment and possibly purchased it but didnโt listen to it after a few weeks. Maybe back then I thought it was deserving of being num.1 but not because I loved it. Was it a huge seller? Or more YouTube??

I feel like if it was the other way around and Gangnam Style was #1 for 9 weeks (or even more) due to streaming being more accounted, i think itโs rep wouldnโt be the way it is today. People would call it overrated and be sick of it. It wouldโve also probably sticked around way longer than it did at maybe the 60-80 week range. The fact that its run was based off of radio and sales alone compared to its record breaking YouTube views at the time, is the more impressive feat.

Was it a huge seller? Or more YouTube??It was both, much more so than OMN, although the latter also had respectable sales and YouTube views and of course had far more airplay, so it's likely GS would have been #1 for some, but not all of the weeks OMN was #1. For me, I actually disliked both songs, so I don't really care much either.

This is another one of those 'different for everyone' things
There are studies that show that peoples "better year for music" lies around the year it was when they were around say ages 13-15 or the early teen years
