Why are we dragging Ghost for hitting only 500k streams on Spotify? How many songs are doing better? 18? That's hardly a problem when no song is even close to 2M streams and only a couple are at 1M. You are just focusing on Spotify, but "Ghost" was #36 on Streaming Songs last week and has a peak of #34 to this point. That's all obviously well below its current standing of #4 on Radio Songs. While they are two different metrics, you'd expect them to be a bit closer. I think radio stations would rather play a song that’s dominating call outs with 500-600k streams than a song doing 1m streams. Also, ghost is far from peaking on streams. I see it reaching top 10 on Spotify and top 20 on overall streaming after the Grammys

In regard to ghost, a lot of people are connecting to the song because of the lyrics and that acoustic guitar transition in the chorus is beautiful and very addicting. Go look at the YouTube comment section to the video and you will see all the locals on there and what they’re saying is the reason it’s doing so well

Ghost's run seems kind of similar to Adore You so far tbh. Radio staples that slowly gained traction in all platforms as months went on. Adore you peaked at #23 on streaming but still dominated airplay. Ghost has peaked at 34 and is still rising, probably will be in the 20's by next week. Songs been out for almost a year and been a single for 5+ months and is #19 on US Spotify and rising, and y'all trying to say it doesn't feel like a hit lol, I really don't understand. I'm genuinely curious, do you guys think Adore you didn't feel like a hit either?

Adore You was awful. I can’t believe radio made that one a hit, and not Golden.

Fair enough. Personally I really liked Adore You, felt like it had it's moment for sure.

Country audience is using Amazon Music more and more. Most country streaming gainers of the week are attributed to playlisting there.

“Do We Have a Problem” STILL in the Top 10 on Apple Music even after new releases came through. Must be an awkward sight for the haters. Let them jump in glee tomorrow when they see the second week fall. But that will be it from there.

Most of us pay more attention to the Hot 100 than to the Apple sales charts, and for good reason. Then we can look forward to two more big falls next week.

I think there is a general surge in Country streams as opposed to pre-pandemic times. Country has been one of the last formats to adjust to streaming, and it's been simply catching up. With that said, unless you have a "cross-over" hit, pop/Country song or are named Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton or Morgan Wallen, you likely won't have high streams as a country song (of course, there's always exceptions to all rules). Politics has zero to do with this. (Politics does have some to do with iTunes Country Songs going Top 10... because as I said Country has taken a while to adjust to streaming... but even then that hardly has an impact on the Hot 100 (see Lets Go Brandon songs)). Didn't country music take awhile to adjust to the digital era, too? And now that has been the last genre to really let go of digital sales and transition to streaming. Actually I'd say rock has yet to let go of digital sales and transition to streaming.

I read that one as a joke
Country's appeal to streaming audience is way more limited than other genres. It's basically one or two current MALE artists (Wallen, Combs, Hayes, Kane Brown if you consider him country) and then Tennessee Whiskey.
Tennesee Whiskey is seven years old and still one of the most streamed country songs on a weekly basis.

Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves still perform better than most of them on streaming (because you'd definitely be right to point out how unbalanced country radio is), and Walker Hayes only really has one hit as far. And even then, Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs still easily beat the rest, so it's just them absolutely dominating the genre on streaming with a group of artists trying to catch up to them with mixed results

top 50 on streaming songs overall: tennessee whiskey #38 it's going to be weird, but I'd bet dollars to donuts this passes Sunflower eventually for most weeks on streaming songs chart Nah, it only has 30 weeks total as of now since it's just a 50 position chart. It is 10x platinum, though, so I can see it threatening for the highest certified song ever in a few years if it keeps going the way it has been. Crazy. (It's also still top 50 at iTunes, though that's probably at most 1000 downloads a week.)

top 50 on streaming songs overall: tennessee whiskey #38 it's going to be weird, but I'd bet dollars to donuts this passes Sunflower eventually for most weeks on streaming songs chart It's not going to happen. It's a 7-year-old song that is 93 weeks behind Sunflower. To put into perspective how impossible it is, Tennessee Whiskey would need to chart on the streaming songs for nearly 22 more months (and that is in the unlikely case that Sunflower doesn't gain an additional week on the chart). If any song is going to break the Sunflower record in the future, unless that song gets virtually no radio, it will be one that finishes in the Top 5 of the all-time list. Heat Waves has the best chance of all the current songs, but it will need to chart like 150 weeks on the Hot 100 to do it.

Tennessee Whiskey was released at around the same time as UF, and with UF remaining fairly steady in the US, I don’t see it making up the ground ever.

Ah yeah I see "UF" hasn't been certified since 2016. Wow. Of course, who knows if they will then actually certify is 20 million or whatever? "TW" is gaining a bit of ground at the moment. Regardless, what "TW" has done is amazing for a country song, especially one that never received significant airplay on any format. It will surely be the highest certified album track, if it isn't already.

Lmao, just as people were saying Ghost wasn't doing well on streaming, it gets a new peak on Spotify Spotify obviously isn't all of streaming. Regardless, I don't think anyone said the song was declining in streams, so I don't get your point. The observation some of us have made is that its streaming has been well behind its airplay. That is still true at this point, even with a new peak on Spotify. That doesn't mean it couldn't catch up at some point, but to this point in its chart run its stats are heavily radio-driven. That is a fact.
