Lmao, just as people were saying Ghost wasn't doing well on streaming, it gets a new peak on Spotify Spotify obviously isn't all of streaming. Regardless, I don't think anyone said the song was declining in streams, so I don't get your point. The observation some of us have made is that its streaming has been well behind its airplay. That is still true at this point, even with a new peak on Spotify. That doesn't mean it couldn't catch up at some point, but to this point in its chart run its stats are heavily radio-driven. That is a fact. ...

Heat Waves will be joining Levitating as two songs managing to get #1 in Radio Songs thanks to a second wind. I wonder if this will be become a common occurence.

If it does, I hope it happens to songs that are actually good. (Not to say that these arenβt good, Iβd just like to see some consistency here)

Interestingly enough, Chart Essentials released what the Hot 100 would look like without airplay.

Not "bad," no. I think radio certainly serves a purpose (and an audience). I do give more credibility to songs that are driven by streaming, though.

Interesting that EOM would be at #16 and Stay at #18 if radio wasnβt included in the formula. It was pretty clear what metric was refusing to let these songs go.

A collab no one asked for but one needs it more than the other since a certain single didn't do the numbers it was suppost to which is why the album got pushed back so it wouldn't flop.

Are all these recent Ed Sheeran collabs (Peru, TJ&TQ, and now Bam Bam) just his way of saying the = era underperformed by his standards and he needs to make up for that somehow?

Ghost has already over 400m streams on Spotify and will continue to have healthy gains so it doesn't matter if "it doesn't feel like a hit" to some of you guys, it's a hit. In streaming age, peaks don't define everything.

Even if they were all in the works for a while, the timing of these collabs releasing within months of each other seems suspect to me. Reminds me of when The Weeknd decided to pump out a bunch of collabs between TMB and the release of Dawn FM.

This is too much Ed is doing fine in Europe and Australia (and Japan) and he's releasing another album in a year. He'll be touring for 4 years so i guess everything is fine with his career.

I think Ed is just naturally phasing out of the superstardom stage of his career. Not saying he'll flop but this era has been reliant on radio spamming stateside. On paper the hits have been big but you can see the cracks and the formula starting to yield diminishing returns.
Plenty of room to be successful in a more lowkey way tho.
As for Camila Cabello, she's running out of options.

Reminds me of when The Weeknd decided to pump out a bunch of collabs between TMB and the release of Dawn FM. They've already planned the Taylor remix release for January/February before the album release so there's nothing suspicious about that. About Camila collab, she asked Ed to join her on a song and he accepted.

As for Camila Cabello, she's running out of options. Isn't selling out stadiums is a proof of his superstardom? I mean many acts struggle to sell arenas yet he is doing another huge tour. If superstardom is only about making hits, then neither Taylor nor Gaga are superstars anymore so what you said doesn't make sense. Plus Ed already had two huge hits last year with Bad Habits and Shivers.

Which is still fine Ed is selling out stadiums around the world, what are you talking about? The Weeknd will also announce a stadium tour soon and i'm sure he'll do very well. Both are very global acts and will be more than fine.

Perhaps superstardom was the wrong term - commercial peak is what I meant.
The smallest cristicism in a post saying he's still gonna be fine will still ignite a whole paragraph response lmao.
