11(+2) Latto - Big Energy 47.42(+0.79) What did I tell y'all about this song? I said when it first charted to look out for it being a hit in the future.Β Was anything needed to be said??? Was obvious from jump she wanted a radio hitπ

If anything, this is making me appreciate how surprisingly decent mainstream country has been so far this year. Sure, we still have a few mediocre songs here and there, and even a couple outright awful ones in AA and Beers On Me, but for the most part, Iβve been enjoying the charting country offerings a lot more than some other genres with presence. I know a lot of you donβt like or care for the genre, but I do suggest you take a listen to songs like You Should Probably Leave, Half of My Hometown, Heart on Fire, If I Was A Cowboy, and Never Wanted To Be That Girl if you want a taste of what Nashville has to offer right now. DISCLAIMER: I'm not Republican, and this isn't intended to bring up a political discussion I think a contributing factor to country music's current dominance is the growing rural Republican pride going on What is country supposed to be dominating? The only country artists that have any streaming presence are Luke Combs + Morgan Wallen, so I am genuinely perplexed with your statement

I don't think political affiliation is as much a factor as:
- The fans have adapted to streaming - country songs with a pop flavor attracting multiple formats have become more prominent - albums have gotten longer

That song is number one on Spotify's biggest playlist and purportedly has 70,000,000 people listening to it everyday on airwaves, but it is barely hitting 500,000 streams on Spotify? The problem is way bigger than what people are saying it is

has 70,000,000 people listening to it everyday on airwaves No. It was heard an estimated 70 million times in the last week. AI does not estimate the number of unique people hearing it, let alone in one day.

Ghost being a smash feels weird. Genuinely it seems like a song that you'd only hear if you were not seeking out music by yourself - nobody's favourite track, but something they wouldn't mind hearing, and as such they just wouldn't change the station or skip it on a playlist if it came on. They wouldn't add it, but they'd still listen through the entire thing. Literally the definition of filler

I think Ghost is a quality song to an extent, but wonder if in five years people will be like "oh yeah Ghost now THAT is a great Bieber track". I don't think so.

I wonder if Nail Tech is gonna stay strong enough throughout the week to debut top 10, I feel like it's about time for Jack Harlow to have a big solo hit (yea What's Poppin was big before the remix but the remix was what really took it to Smash territory)

Why are we dragging Ghost for hitting only 500k streams on Spotify? How many songs are doing better? 18? That's hardly a problem when no song is even close to 2M streams and only a couple are at 1M.

Ghost is the decent filler song that could. Pop music is so close to being dead rn, pretty much anything could dominate

I'm not saying it's bad, I enjoy it, but it is simply a non-event for me. Perfectly enjoyable between songs but it won't really define Bieber's career or the year

What is country supposed to be dominating? The only country artists that have any streaming presence are Luke Combs + Morgan Wallen, so I am genuinely perplexed with your statement yeah, looking at the top 50 us spotify albums last week, there's just morgan and ex-country star taylor. I think there is a general surge in Country streams as opposed to pre-pandemic times. Country has been one of the last formats to adjust to streaming, and it's been simply catching up. With that said, unless you have a "cross-over" hit, pop/Country song or are named Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton or Morgan Wallen, you likely won't have high streams as a country song (of course, there's always exceptions to all rules). Politics has zero to do with this. (Politics does have some to do with iTunes Country Songs going Top 10... because as I said Country has taken a while to adjust to streaming... but even then that hardly has an impact on the Hot 100 (see Lets Go Brandon songs)).

You are just focusing on Spotify, but "Ghost" was #36 on Streaming Songs last week and has a peak of #34 to this point. That's all obviously well below its current standing of #4 on Radio Songs. While they are two different metrics, you'd expect them to be a bit closer.

Didn't country music take awhile to adjust to the digital era, too? And now that has been the last genre to really let go of digital sales and transition to streaming.

Unpopular opinion: I preferred Hold On over Ghost. I can top that. All four of the hits on Justice pale in comparison to most of Justice.
