^It's probably the normal Monday rebound that most songs get after the Sunday dip. I do see that Something in the Way managed to get more than a 117k gain as well.

Hey, phieaglesfan712. Guess what song Marvel used as the theme for their new superhero show's trailer? Blinding Lights (Week 91 Remix) coming out the same week as the first episode of this show.

This is anecdotal, but I sure as hell don't care about celebrity gossip, seek out paparazzi photos, or really care about what my favorite musical artists do anymore. I follow a good chunk of them on social media, and that mostly covers it for me. Then I go see them live in concert if I can. I don't care if Olivia Rodrigo gets lip fillers or Lil Nas X uses poppers or Dua Lipa folds her toilet paper. But those are the types of stories that would keep "pop stars" in the headlines back in the day. Honest question though, how old are you? Because I promise you there are still millions of 14 year olds that do still care about what their favorite artists are doing, what they're wearing, where they're eating, who they're dating. You are able to curate that out of your social media experience because you don't care about it. But it definitely still exists I'm in my early mid 20's. I didn't say no one cares about those things, but rather that the attention is divided. You can get your fashion inspo, makeup inspo, lifestyle inspo etc. from all different corners of the internet. TikTok stars, random trends on TikTok, YouTubers, Instagram influencers... whole accounts dedicated to those things and such. which is a stark contrast from the era of "pop stars" people so nostalgically yearn for where magazines, MTV, radio, and tabloids were kind of all you had to go off of. not music related, but people went and got "The Rachel" haircut from Friends because well, you didn't even have Google Image search as an option for the first 7 years that sitcom aired. now you can pull up any random photo as your inspiration when you go get your hair, nails, makeup done. "Pop stars" are still here, but they're not people's only/main option for entertainment. Still, when they do something noteworthy, people talk about them––a lot. Lil Nas X music videos, Doja Cat's live performances, Billie Eilish's Vogue cover, Ariana Grande's wedding, Lady Gaga's 4-parter MET Gala look... just some examples from the last couple years. the general public's relationship with pop stars isn't as incessantly toxic and harmful doesn't mean we don't have pop stars anymore.

This week we will most likely be losing One Mississippi, Meet Me At Our Spot, and Oh My God, as well as *maybe* You Should Probably Leave.
(Funny how that last song is living up to its title, as it's been on the cusp of recurrency for weeks now and yet nothing has come along to truly knock it away.)

Barring some huge miracle that's probably the last Adele top 20 hit we'll have for the next five years.
I don't think IDW sounds like a major 2022 hit (love it though), CIGI is probably not getting released and the rest of the album has no business being a single.

Justin hasn’t left the top 10 of the hot 100 since album release date with peaches debuting top #1. 51 weeks. What’s the record for most consecutive weeks in the top 10? I imagine he is still very far out

I imagine he is still very far out If Justin doesn't release anything new, Stay would need to make it to Week 53 without dropping out of the Top 10 for Justin to tie the Katy Perry record of 69 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, and Week 54 to break it. With Stay about to outlive Ghost, it's pretty amazing how Justin might break the record with essentially 2 songs (Peaches and Stay).

MRC Data (formerly Neilsen SoundScan) has once again changed its name. It's now going by Luminate.I really do hope they become more transparent with their data.

I think Hold On would do well as a single in the fall. It does have that holiday feel. Adele can release I Drink Wine as the 3rd single, but she should make Hold On a single at some point because it is the most radio friendly of the remaining 30 tracks.

Katy Perry: 69 weeks (California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T., Last Friday Night) The Chainsmokers: 61 weeks (Don't Let Me Down, Closer, Paris, Something Just Like This) Drake: 51 weeks (Hotline Bling, Work, Summer Sixteen, One Dance) Justin Bieber: 51 weeks (Peaches, Stay, Essence Remix, Ghost) I think you forgot The Weeknd w/ Blinding Lights alone + SYT. Correct me if Im wrong, SYT is in Top 10 during Christmas week right?

SYT charted for 2 weeks in April 2020, and did not return until January 2021 (and when it did, it returned at #95 and took a while for it to return to the Top 10). Next week will mark the 2-year anniversary of SYT’s Hot 100 debut. If it charts, it will have charted on the first week of April in 3 consecutive years (4/4/2020, 4/3/2021, and 4/2/2022).

The Weeknd's consecutive appearances in Top 10.
February 29 - December 5, 2020: 41 weeks (Mostly Blinding Lights)
January 9 - July 31, 2021: 30 weeks (Mostly BL & Save Your Tears)
Not comparable with the four I've already mentioned.

Stay got a huge gain today on radio and it looks like Sacrifice peaked on radio. This is one of the main reasons why radio is declining. They are so reluctant to play newer songs and give more power to songs that has already been on heavy rotation since the summer of last year because anything with Biebers name is bound to get heavy plays. It’s not a new thing that radio overplays songs but holy crap this is too far. It’s not helping with the fact that people are still streaming Stay while there are countless of other new songs that is waiting to be streamed. Spotify streams are at an all time low and other streaming services refuse to share their numbers. At this rate, the charts are dead.

Y'all say radio is to blame like STAY isn't streaming well. Same with Levitating, Blinding Lights, Save Your Tears...
Streaming charts still regularly feature Sunflower.
Consumption trends have changed with streaming. A few years ago you bought a song first week and then you could play it non stop for a year but your purchase only impacted that first week. Now if you keep streaming it keeps impacting.

You can stream for free or pay a monthly charge to listen to whatever you want.

Y'know the year's been slow enough, why not have another Disney song be a hit?

Do we have numbers for format audience rates or anything? I’d be curious to see how formats (or stations) that are more current-focused do in comparison to those that rely more on older songs (either classic rock, 80s or even more recent but old hits). I think the days of radio being a marker for current hits are numbered and that radio charts will continue to move slower as we approach 2030. Does Billboard incorporate non-current stations (classic rock or 80s for example) into their charts? Classic rock might not be relevant since all those songs wouldn’t be eligible anyway but I suppose it would be interesting to see how they compare to the currents, especially if other formats start to shift more into recurrents and golds. Billboard (or Mediabase, or whoever) will need to figure out that factors in in the future.

Good to see Nas X back, 2022 has felt empty without his presence on social media.
