I know CMA tends to vote a certain way, but come on, IIDLY was a waaaaaaaay bigger hit

It's wild to me that as big of a hit as "IIDLY" was, they didn't win a Duo/Collaboration Awards from any of the big 3 awards.

CMA voting has become so political, so it doesn’t really surprise me. It’s all about who you know when it comes to winning a CMA. Staggering to me that Carrie has only won 8-9 of them in her career out of how many nominations.

I wonder which Alan song she will be singing for the tribute. “Remember When” maybe?

That bit of “Remember When” was so pure. Such a tease.
Also this entire presentation proves that she should be hosting this show lol.

And she loses EOTY yet again….what a shocker. I’m getting so tired of the CMAs and their BS. Only consolation was that it was someone deserving like Luke Combs.

We knew this was gonna happen. We got fed either way so that’s still a win.
The people know who the real EOTY (and decade, and century) is.

EOTY is a long shot, and always has been. I wasn’t expecting it but I’m hopelessly hopeful it’ll happen some day. The Wallen/Combs wave will be hard to break through but if she continues being nominated, then I’ll always believe she has a shot. That said, I don’t see anyone but Combs or Wallen winning in the next couple of years, no one comes close and they take up so much space in the industry… Carrie would need an amazing year to make it happen anytime soon, so it’s definitely not something I expect… I just hope and wish for it even still.
Carrie was perfect tonight, as always. She shows up, shows everyone how it’s done, claps for the winners, and then goes home where she keeps her 25 CMTs and 17 AMAs, among dozens of others. Not to trash the CMAs, they haven’t been awful to Carrie… she is a 5-time Female Vocalist and perennial EOTY nominee after all. However, of all the awards organizations, they have certainly overlooked Carrie a notable number of times. The night began with a tribute to the industry’s first female EOTY, yet they awarded one single woman two awards on air; one of which a female has to win. Country music has definitely been better about female representation, but Carrie was a major voice and advocate in making that shift happen… so it makes the snubs sting even worse when they have a solid chance every year to name a female EOTY.
Anyway, the show was wonderful and I love that Carrie always seizes the opportunity of performing on their shows. Hopefully one day her name will be called as CMA EOTY, but I’ve accepted since 2019 that it’s always wishful thinking to believe it’ll ever happen…

Y’all we need to stream the f**k outta HMH, and any other singles we get this era. I wanna make sure this era and Carrie in general are undeniable in this current eligibility period. Let’s just go balls to the walls. I want 2 or 3 consecutive number ones baby! This tour is selling out and will continue to do its part. Let’s do ours. Let’s not give up hope! Not to mention I bet the next leg of Vegas Shows are even more insane than they already are! 2023 EOTY BABY LET’S GET IT!

Lol I kinda love how even her team is in on just flat-out saying how silly it all is.
Anyways, we were given a whole lot of great new content to enjoy tonight. And, above all else, the crown as Best (Co-)Host of the show remains on her head. I don’t know that they’ll ever find a fit as solid as her & BP were.

Carrie was amazing in all of her performances, and introducing Allen Jackson I thought there was finally a worthy host on the stage. She just encompasses everything country music is about. She is the current Queen of country no matter who is winning the awards. Its her face on every advertisement, and they couldn't have a better ambassador. She cares to much about the show, representing country by just all the outfits she uses, all the little details to awards shows Carrie is showing the younger generations how it's done. It does break my heart for her because I know she wants EOTY. No one works harder than her. They really screwed her over in 2019, but I'm glad that it seems she sees beyond the awards. She's already a country legend. Yes, they'll never find better hosts. I wonder if they'll ever come back together and host. Everyone would love it.

It almost feels a little personal that she never wins EOTY - she deserves that honor. I’m not sure what she can do at this point to win except likely a legacy award in the future.

It’s tragic to consider, but I feel like for Carrie or Miranda to stand a chance to win this, they have to be the sole female in the category, have a massive year with big moves leading up to the voting period, AND have no other *Garth’s massive comeback* situation in play.
So good luck 😞
The 2019 CMAs was probably the most frustrating evening to be a Carrie fan and or a general supporter of wanting to see equality in the male-dominated genre. Since then I’ve gone in accepting she’ll lose it.
I will say I hope she continues to get nominated as it’s still *a level* of recognition for all her efforts.

I don't think it's personal so much as it's WME bloc voting, and the good ole boys. I mean, Miranda has been a WME awards darling, and she couldn't get EOTY in what is probably her best shot at the award. She didn't get anything last night, and a lot of people predicted she would get a couple. Artists have said in years past how political it is. I get it still doesn't taper the hope and excitement of winning, but when the same things keep happening over and over it really puts it into perspective. I really feel voting needs an overhaul of some kind. Country music is so misogynistic it's almost impossible for women when they can barely get airplay. It's really gross when you think about it lol Maybe there needs to be a Female EOTY and a Male EOTY, or maybe fans need to be incorporated into the process in some kind of valid way. I come away from the awards every year feeling like they are kinda fake. Carrie gets that promo and face time though. I really wish she would host again. She's so good at it.

I don't think it's personal against Carrie either. I think its a combination of several factors. She's a woman in male dominated industry, she's a natural introvert in a field that's suited to extroverts, and label politics. Personally I think it will reflect very poorly on the organization if she ends her career never winning this award after the career she's had and all that she's done for the organization but her window of opportunity is rapidly closing if not already closed. 2019 was a stab in the back but I honestly didn't expect anything this year.
I think at this point the fans care more than she does. She was visibly shaken in 2019 when she was put in the untenable position of pasting a smile and closing out the show after that major disappointment. Since then though she seems to be taking it in stride.

You guys have amazing patience and faith to still care about CMA EOTY. I haven't even bothered checking nominations or watching the show for a few years now.
The boys club aren't going to give it to her ever. If she couldn't win during her peak album eras, they will have even less reason to vote for her now.
As for hosting, I hope she and Brad never return to co-hosting CMA again.

This is going to sound emotional and I really don’t mean it to, I’m one of those fans that remains hopeful, but realistic. I know Carrie’s chances at CMA EOTY are slim, so I’m not coming from a naive perspective in saying this. However, I think it’s unfair to ask Carrie’s most devoted life-long fans not to care about this award. Many of us became fans of Carrie through a competition, and for nearly two decades fan-voted awards have given Carrie’s fans the chance to sorta relive that feeling, so there’s a competitive edge to the fan base that doesn’t just disappear with industry awards…
Industry awards are obviously different, but of course in a competitive setting the fans will bring a lot of the same energy. I think by now, most of us know the reality that chances are slim, so the preachy “Carrie fans need to stop thinking she can win” entirely misses the mark of what’s going on. We’re a competitive fan base full of fans who would vote their faces off to make this happen if they could, so if channeling that competitive energy into a bit of hope keeps the train moving along, so be it.
I’ll also add, Carrie has been nominated five times; 2016, 2019-22. It’s not outrageous to hope for something when she comes that close to it for so many years… Just saying, clearly the industry knows and agrees she’s one of the best they have - she wouldn’t make the top 5 consistently if they thought differently, so while that doesn’t necessarily impact her overall chances of a win, it is a win in itself, and with every nomination comes a little bit of justified hope that her name may one day be called. I realize it isn’t likely, but so long as her name is in the running my mind will always sneakily convince itself a win is possible, and that’s because Carrie is a WINNER.

The Country categories are very traditional this year, the only standouts from that are Kelsea, Maren, and maybe Ingrid/Sam Hunt… I mean, Willie Nelson is one of the most nominated country artists, and Dolly & Reba scored a nomination! Miranda, Ashley McBryde, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, etc…
I think Carrie’s best shot is to submit more traditional material to the Country categories, Album is a particularly traditional category and I think that’s largely why Carrie has never been nominated there.

Her lacking of a single Country Album nod in her entire career is pretty mystifying, but definitely not with this era. Wasn’t expecting anything this go around.
I’m just glad she got an 8th win last year. She’ll have many more to come.

Sucks that she didn’t get any Grammy nods, but I’m not surprised either. The country categories have been skewing more towards “traditional” sounding country. I still am annoyed that they did away with male/female vocal categories, because Carrie was almost always guaranteed a nomination as long as she released something. D & R is a fun album, but I’m ready for a more traditional Carrie album again in the same vein as Storyteller, Blown Away or even Carnival Ride.

John Legend went pretty hard in his nomination push for Carrie as Blake's future-replacement on The Voice. He even called out her already-existing partnership with NBC as a reason for such consideration. You can tell this is something that he's already thought about 🤣
