Ok so follow up to the track # rankings we did…if you had to pick one number for your fav tracks which would it be?? (And I’m sorry if that isn’t worded the best, but it’s Saturday night and I’ve been drinking a little lol).
For me it has to be #2!!! Dirty Laundry, Velvet Heartbreak, DFTRM, Ghosts On The Stereo. Those four right there are easily in my top 10 Carrie songs of all-time!

That one is tough because there is not a number on all of the albums that I collectively like. I will say I enjoy a lot of her more recent #8s though so I'll go with that.

Definitely think her track #3s hold the biggest punch for me.
-Church Bells -Two Black Cadillacs -Low -So Small
All some of the best songs in her entire discography.

Meanwhile HMH is currently averaging 35K streams per day on Spotify. Pull the plug UMG. Don’t squander this hit.

I’m not even going to pretend that i understand these playlists and why they drop one song that is a current single and add another thats not an official single at the moment but i just find all this incredibly weird what is happening with these two songs. Also i gotta say, i find it hard to believe she went in the studio and only recorded this one song(OOTT). Something more is brewing. But i don’t necessarily think its a deluxe edition of D&R. It could be…. but i’m not convinced that it is.

Considering how similar "Out of That Truck" is with the overall sound of 'Denim & Rhinestones', I don't believe it is intended for a new album so it has to be either a one-off or a hint at a deluxe edition. Plus, they used photography from this era for the single artwork.

Are re-releases still a thing really? I was under the impression those kind of died out in the early 2010s. What are some examples of (recent) deluxe editions that have come out and have they actually been successful for the artist/album in question?

Luke Combs had great success with Deluxe Editions of his first two albums. But D&R is dead, and a Deluxe Edition isn't going to do anything to save it. At best it would be pointless, at worst it would saddle OOTT with unnecessary baggage, and hurt it's chances of being a hit in it's own right.

What are some examples of (recent) deluxe editions that have come out and have they actually been successful for the artist/album in question? I think it’s kind of hard to say because the current trend has been many artists releasing deluxe/bonus/expanded editions of an album literally days to maybe a few weeks after the original album’s release to bolster initial SPS figures (ex. Melanie Martinez just released a deluxe edition of her new album that debuted at #2 one week after the standard). In this climate, at best, packaging a streaming hit with a few other tracks as a deluxe edition of an album could help accelerate a Gold/Platinum certification. I don’t think there would be a huge boost on the charts unless there was physical product involved (vinyl drops always tend to revive interest but D&R already had its vinyl pressing).

It’s kind of about the quality of the new songs on the release. I know Gabby Barrett had an outright flop for a third single (Footprints on the moon) on her Goldmine album and they did a rerelease and the crowd really connected well with “Pick Me Up” so they were able to squeeze another top 5 out of the album, when the era was already two years old.

I'm guessing he asks her about the cody johnson duet. I could be wrong, but they usually reveal pretty much next to nothing on this show.

The "I can't say much" definitely makes it sound like she's talking about the Cody Johnson duet. I wonder if we'll also get a "I'm always working on something" and a "Soon".

Carly Pearce had some very nice things to say about Carrie, thought I’d share:
“I’ve always said Carrie Underwood is my inspiration for the way that she cares about the Opry and for the way that she has made it part of her platform and who she is,” Pearce said. “I hope the Opry knows at this point that I feel responsible to be one of the ladies in the next generation that carries the torch. Preserving this place is so special to me. Every person that has ever mattered in country music played here, and that’s important to me.”

I need an OOTT performance! Or the debut of the Carrie/Cody duet would be cool too! #CU4EOTY

So, overnight Carrie posted a different "Out of That Truck" video on social media. It is labeled "official video." Wonder what this means? fb.watch/k2hWBn7yQo/

It doesn't mean anything, it's just an alternative to the Lyric Video. They did something similar with Only Us, where they did a Studio Only version.

It actually says Official Audio Video, so instead of just having nothing like most audio uploaded to youtube they put some video with it, which is smart for that particular platform

OOTT lyric video is likely nothing more than a random visual to pair with a surprise release that ended up not totally flying under the radar. I wouldn’t read into it. Now, for more pressing matters: https://www.instagram.com/p/CrT55T8OmaQ 😍

It’s one of (maybe) four things, in what I think is order of likelihood:
1) Confirmation of the Cody Johnson duet, with its release being announced.
2) OOTT is indeed a part of D&R deluxe, and will be sent to radio.
3) Reflection will be extended into 2024.
4) She and Brad will return to the CMAs as co-hosts, due to the popular demand brought on by his appearance at her Nashville D&R show.

Let me just throw in the wild theory we'll get a brand new album this year. Probably unlikely but stranger things have happened.

I don’t think the Cody Johnson duet will be announced until after his current single is done (which won’t be for another 2ish months), and that is if it’s his next single.
Here’s hoping it’s OOTT as a single and a D&R deluxe.

Let me just throw in the wild theory we'll get a brand new album this year. Probably unlikely but stranger things have happened. I was thinking this too. D&R deluxe sounds fun, but the writing is on the wall with this era, and the tour is over… it doesn’t make a lot of sense to invest much more in a project that has seemingly run its course imo. The money to be made is through the tour, and the album is promoted in conjunction with the tour to sell the show…. Without a show to sell, what would the end game be for continuing with this album? A new album is starting to make more sense, but I still think some sort of deluxe album is more likely… I’m sure Reflection will be extended to 2024, so that could be the announcement, albeit a lame one relative to a new or deluxe album announcement. I would certainly LOVE for Carrie & Brad to come back, it would be a huge moment for both, and it’s not totally out of the question. Brad is launching new music, and our resident theorists have concluded that Carrie may be in the same boat. The gig is mutually beneficial to the Brad & Carrie and the CMAs, and their ratings would certainly benefit (which they desperately need). It wasn’t that long ago when they hosted, but considering all that has happened in the last five years it seems like a lifetime ago, so they can take the nostalgia angle full force. With this said, it seems to me there is some residual strain/awkwardness between Carrie and the CMAs. The way it all went down in 2019 & the aftermath was probably a bigger deal than we were ever lead to believe, so who knows. I don’t think there’s literal hostility, but it just doesn’t feel/look like it used to from the outside looking in.

I get what you're saying, I don't disagree with you...but I miss the days when selling an album for the sake of selling an album mattered. I know sales are in the gutter but they could still try and get the album some streams.

I know sales are in the gutter but they could still try and get the album some streams. Oh I do too. I think with an effective reintroduction of Carrie via “The Voice” or something of the like to the general masses, particularly to younger generations, there’s the potential for a renaissance where she could move some albums and have streaming success. Her star has been fading on the charts a bit, but her reputation as a live entertainer is at an all time high. There’s gotta be a way to strike some gold in this phase of her career, and I hope they make it happen. I think there’s still some big hits left to be had, but a boost of some kind is needed. Looking forward I hope they capitalize on year 20, and I hope Carrie gets back to some storytelling thematic songs. I love D&R and I think it should have been much bigger than it has been, but I do understand when people say they miss “the old Carrie”, because her last two projects are notable departures from what her Sony days had us accustomed to.

Are we ruling out the possibility of an international tour? I know that’s been an interest, and with OOTT, they could push it to coincide with a tour extension. As much as I’d love more music, I just think it’s too soon given her history with major music releases.
