I...am not loving Take Me Out tbh. I'll have to give it another listen or two but love songs just aren't my thing. Gimme the breakup anthems Carrie.

“Take Me Out” is pleasant. Carrie sounds so in love and sincere singing it. Seeing the comparisons, I much prefer “Heartbeat” after a few listens. I think a stripped back, traditional production could really elevate it. In fact, I would have loved a stripped back version of the album. I think it would be really interesting to listen to a more traditional take on many of these songs. I hope she takes that route with her next album.
I wonder about the logic behind including a live version of “She Don’t Know” (aside from it being an album highlight). Could they be considering it as the 4th single if OOTT does really well?
Also, does anyone know the timeline of when Carrie wrote the songs on the deluxe edition? I’m curious if they didn’t make it on the standard edition or if they were written after its release. Like, did they save OOTT for the deluxe, thinking it would be a hit? Do we have the writers for the other new ones?

I think I'm gonna like Carrie Country radio. In the first thirty minutes, she played Brooks and Dunn and Foo Fighters back to back. Crazy, but refreshing to me. I'm not sure what she'll play next. And I like that a lot. She also played "Little Toy Guns" which I never hear anymore. I had forgotten how good it sounded on radio. She just did a story and intro about how much she loves George Michael and played "Faith." So far, I'm definitely a fan.

Take me out is cute, but I do find it rather boring. I kind of feel the same way about it as I do with Faster and Wanted Woman, she sounds great, but the production just leaves more to be desired from me. I do like it somewhat better than those two though, but it would still be in the bottom three on the album for me so far.
If she still wants consumer success, she'll stick to production similar to what she has on OOTT, which really leans into that early 2000s production feel. That one is so infections, and the staying power of it, really speaks for itself. I feel like TMO might have a little hype right now since it's new, but feel like after the new dies off, it'll stream similarly to the other album tracks on D&R.
I really am intrigued by the new title "Damage."

Take Me Out feels a little too generic for me. Something about the production doesn't suit the vibe and feel that the lyrics is trying to bring either, imo.

This was alluded to but TMO sounds like what they came up with right before “Wanted Woman”… sonically they’re pretty similar, not to mention the identical theme. Between the two, they picked the right one for the album. I like TMO well enough, but I much prefer OOTT and WW.

I love Carrie in her softer, romantic mode. "Wanted Woman," "Faster," "Heartbeat," etc. So I really like "Take Me Out." It's not single worthy or anything, but it's nice.
I'm not even a married woman with kids, but I can totally identify with those lyrics, lol. I'm like, yes bitch, let's drop these brats off with grandma and get it on 😂

Loving her radio station, downloaded Sirius with the 3-month free link, might end up keeping this after all! In the last half hour I’ve heard Brad Paisley, JoDee Messina, G&R, and Carrie of course.
…. And now “Chaser”… which both enthralls and enrages me. Easily one of her biggest missed opportunities for a hit. But anyway, download the app and enjoy the station. If you’re a fan of Carrie you’ll very much enjoy the show.

I have to admit I really love Take Me Out. I like it a lot better than faster, which is just okay to me. I find TMO to be kinda addictive to listen to. It's streams were pretty good too (139,669). My favorite Carrie love songs are Someday When I Stop Loving You, Look at me, Heartbeat, Wanted Woman, & Take Me Out. Honorable mention Like I'll Never Love You Again. Just don't love it as much as the ones I mentioned above. Wanted Woman is also a little different to me because I don't really consider it a country song, but I love it's 70's/80's vibe.

Infectious is the perfect way to describe that one (I cannot get enough of it!) and there’s a reason it’s out-streaming 65% of the billboard chart and just really, really connecting super well with everyone and not just Carrie Stans. Considering this, I would really like to hear more like this. I think general audiences have missed that sound from Carrie and I hope she does more of it because it’s amazing how well OOTT is connecting and resonating with basically everyone loving it

Carrie’s country is already an automatic win for me. I heard ‘just pretend’ by bad omens on it & was shocked & excited at the same time. What are the odds that my favorite singer’s radio station plays the song that I’ve been obsessed with for months now? 😂

^ Ditto.
I was a total prick when she first announced it, I was underwhelmed then… but listening has flipped my perspective.
I LOVE “Carole’s Corner” … she shares a little anecdote about Carrie and then she plays a song or two she loves. I think it’s such a neat idea! Then there are the “Take the Wheel” segments where fans get to countdown their five favorite Carrie songs (I would love to do that, I have to figure out how to submit/apply for that). Then “Savior Sunday” - I’m not that into gospel music, but it’s right up her alley, and she plays a nice mix of genres throughout so it doesn’t feel preachy, more relaxing than anything.
I’m impressed with the whole project, I hope it does really well for a long time. If and when she settles down from residencies and touring, this is totally something she can continue from home at her own pace so I hope this lasts a long time!

I went to a county queens event tonight in Philly. Truly so much Dolly, the chicks and Reba. I was surprised Carrie only got before he cheats and undo it. Gretchen had just as many songs as her played

Taylor’s Cruel Summer taking off on streaming and radio got me wondering what Carrie song from a past album would have the best chance at being a hit!
There are so many songs we all wish and/or think should have been released as a singe…which songs do you think would be the best ones to send to radio (and all the streaming playlists too of course)?? I actually think Songs Like This would sound perfect on radio and would make for fun Tik Tok videos lol I think Low and Ghosts On The Stereo would connect really well too!

From each album: Lessons Learned You Won’t Find This Look At Me Wine After Whiskey Chaser Low Burn ETA: While I'm aware it doesn't apply to all the songs on this list, I think releasing a traditional-leaning song from each album could have been a smart move from Carrie. ITYS seemed like such an unexpected moment from her and seemed to garner a lot of praise/attention. I think her singles catalog would be more well-rounded and a better representation of Carrie as an artist if she had released a handful of these songs: "Look At Me", "Someday When I Stop Loving You", "Do You Think About Me", "Wine After Whiskey", "Choctaw County Affair", and "She Don't Know". Could just be personal taste though

AGREED! ^
All those songs you listed make up my list as well for missed opportunities, and they’re all classic country songs. It’s crazy to look back at her radio career from this perspective given how successful it was, but each era could’ve definitely supported additional singles, and I wonder if there were missed Song/Single of the Year opportunities with some of these songs as well. After her debut she didn’t receive many nominations for her singles discography, mainly for herself as an artist. I wonder if there’s a song in the mix that could’ve changed that?.. I still believe “Wine After Whiskey” is one of her best songs ever, and I find it baffling that her team didn’t do anything with it.

In chronological order:
"The Night Before (Life Goes On)" is one that was missed from her debut. Could've started the storytelling aspect earlier. I think a 5th single would've been justified but I also can see why they chose not to do one. This album more than paid for itself.
"You Won't Find This", although honestly I think this era was pretty much spot on. I don't know that a 6th single would've done much for the album or for her and may have caused oversaturation for country radio and overwork for Carrie.
The Play On era is where things kind of started to fall apart. "Quitter", "Someday When I Stop Loving You", and "What Can I Say" all could've been huge and they should have gone at least 1 more single deeper AND cut "Mama's Song" for one of these three.
I will forever be upset that "Do You Think About Me" never saw the light of day. "Wine After Whiskey" as well, though I'm not as convinced that song would've been super radio friendly.
"Chaser" and "Relapse" both come to mind with Storyteller. Not sure I would've done both, but one or the other would be good. Otherwise I actually think this eras singles were pretty good.
Cry Pretty is kind of a tricky one because I think the title track was so integral to everything about that project, and "Love Wins" is so important to Carrie for whatever reason. Having said that, I'd pick "End Up With You" as a song that was missed. Honorable mentions: "Low", "That Song That We Used to Make Love To", and "Backsliding".
I am not the biggest fan of the Denim & Rhinestones album, but my immediate thought is that "Out of That Truck" should've been on the album. The other candidate would be "Burn" as a missed opportunity.

From each album.. picking a few from each album cause she has tons of hits left on the table. I'll bold the one from each album that I think could've moved the needle the most.
SH: Starts with goodbye Lessons Learned
CR: Flat on the floor Get out of this town You won’t find this
PO: Songs Like This This Time Someday when I stop loving you
BA: Do You think about me Wine after whiskey Good in goodbye
(bolded two because I think DYTAM, would've been an easy #1, probably the same size as SYA, while WAW could've made some noise on the awards show front.)
Storyteller: Renegade Runaway Choctaw Chaser Relapse
CP: End Up With You Ghosts on the stereo Backsliding
D&R: Burn She Don’t Know Pink Champagne Velvet Heartbreak (She picked all wrong singles from this project with the exception of OOTT)

I always thought Keith would have sounded great with her on WCIS

And it would have fit perfectly in the chronological track list releasing that the other 4 singles followed (1, 2, 3, 4….5!!!) it was meant to be lol

Came across these on YouTube, they are high quality recordings of Carrie’s tour stops during the Some Hearts tour in 2006-07. If you’re feeling nostalgic they’re worth the watch!!! Even back then she was incredible! youtu.be/RwaKomMUcHYyoutu.be/wL0OquSmXqw

Watching those clips really demonstrates just how far she’s come as an entertainer. She’s 100x what she was when she started out, and I think that’s the best part of her evolution as an artist. Some acts mainly show their growth in different forms — appearance, diversifying their resumes, sound, etc. And all of those are good and valid (and growth is necessary in all forms, always!), but to grow as a live performer is one of the biggest things that keeps people coming back for more. (And, not to mention, what helps keep cash flowing in. #streamingwontpayyoushit)
D&R has unequivocally been her weakest era commercially, and yet her tour numbers didn’t falter. On the back of approximately zero major hits this era, she sold more tickets in key major markets than she ever has on past tours, including in places like LA, SF, Boston, Chicago, and Nashville. That speaks to her legacy and her consistent development as a live performer. I’m proud of her.
