From each album.. picking a few from each album cause she has tons of hits left on the table. I'll bold the one from each album that I think could've moved the needle the most. SH: Starts with goodbyeLessons Learned CR: Flat on the floorGet out of this town You won’t find this PO: Songs Like This This Time Someday when I stop loving youBA: Do You think about me Wine after whiskeyGood in goodbye (bolded two because I think DYTAM, would've been an easy #1, probably the same size as SYA, while WAW could've made some noise on the awards show front.) Storyteller: Renegade Runaway ChoctawChaser Relapse CP: End Up With YouGhosts on the stereo Backsliding D&R: BurnShe Don’t Know Pink Champagne Velvet Heartbreak (She picked all wrong singles from this project with the exception of OOTT) "Wine After Whiskey," "Low," and "Someday When I Stop Loving You" were great opps for critical acclaim and mainstream hits because the emotion in each was palpable. Emotional Carrie is the best Carrie in my opinion. I also thought she should have shot her shot with "Because He Lives" or "Nothing But the Blood of Jesus." A track from "My Savior" deserved a true release. After listening to Carrie Country for a few days, one song that I hadn't thought that much about really sounded great on radio and I now firmly believe was a huge missed opportunity, particularly since it was one of her weakest eras. "Ghosts on the Stereo" was the hit that never was on the "Cry Pretty" album.

Jumping in on the “singles that should have been” lists…I definitely couldn’t name just one. But I bolded the ones I think would have been *huge*, or would have been an iconic Carrie song if released (whether that was through radio success or awards etc) that *had* to be released. Some Hearts: 1. Whenever You Remember (a great graduation song) 2. That’s Where It Is 3. Starts With Goodbye Carnival Ride: 1. Get Out of This Town not much to say about this era, definitely my least favorite of hers. I do think they chose the best singles though. Play On: 1. What Can I Say (I’m still sad about this one to this day. It is so good!!!) 2. Songs Like This (charted with unsolicited airplay and just sounds like iconic Carrie! Take “flat on the floor” out of her tours and play this!) 3. Someday When I Stop Loving You (speaks for itself🥲) Drop “Mama’s Song” as a radio single and use these three for singles 4-6. Three multi-week number ones. Blown Away: 1. Do You Think About Me 2. Good in Goodbye3. Wine After WhiskeyThis era was so dark and atmospheric. These three fit with it so well. Three way tie for me, lol. See You Again and TBC are both great commercial songs, but these three are all so deep and meaningful and beautiful. Would have done wonders in some arena, whether that be awards or radio or both. Storyteller: 1. Relapse Not much would I change this era. The singles were really, really perfect. Cry Pretty: 1. Backsliding2. Ghosts on the Stereo 3. End Up With YouI will die on the hill that Backsliding would have been a smash. It’s an absolute earworm and the beat is amazing. Ghosts was definitely very radio friendly, even if a bit generic (I love it!). EUWY would have probably been a popular crossover hit IMO. It’s fun. I love the beat and the topic. I think it could have been a dark horse that era and pulled a streaming hit for Carrie, it had the potential to connect super well with the general public Denim & Rhinestones: 1. Crazy Angels 2. Burn 3. Denim and Rhinestones Every single this era was wrong, except the perfect choice of OOTT. Angels is an absolute jam, but both are bops. Burn would have been an iconic summer smash, but I think Angels would’ve just done super well because it’s so damn catchy. I couldn’t choose just one for most of her albums. Doing this really put into perspective how many great singles she had that just never saw the light of day. I don’t think it’s the fan in me when I say that a lot of the ones I put on this list, I think were just huge missed opportunities for potentially big hits. It is a real shame that she only ever went four tracks deep on most of her albums, when arguably, especially many years ago, she could have gone six deep. Some of these songs could have been Career Songs, and it makes me sad they never got that chance. I feel as though it is not like with a lot of artists, when they don’t get to release every great song in the album. With Carrie, I feel like a lot of songs, particularly slow ones, like “Someday when I stop loving you”, “do you think about me”, or “Whine After whiskey”, these were songs not released that literally could have been iconic if they were. We’re not just talking about generic (but catchy!) songs that radio would have liked, but we’re talking about songs that would have been known for years and years after they were released, as well as brought Carrie some much deserved, positive critical and commercial reception towards these very meaningful and impactful songs. It makes me sad they never got to see the light of day really. Maybe they’ll get featured in a TV show one day and blow up like “Running Up That Hill” did

I know that "Burn" is a fan-favorite around here but I got to be honest, it is probably my least favorite song on the album. So personally, I'm not annoyed that it wasn't a single but I know that's an unpopular opinion lol.

I second this for the D&R era. That truly was the hit that got away. Should've been the lead single. If it was, I can guarantee this era would have had a lot more momentum.

I agree and think it could have been interesting if they had gone with "Crazy Angels" as the lead instead. Looking back at how "Ghost Story" was rolled out, Carrie seemed intent on using aerials and a Reflection-style production, like when she premiered it at awards shows. "Crazy Angels" would have allowed for that as well, and is a bit more fun and anthemic in my opinion, which are good ingredients for an album cycle launcher. I also don't think "Ghost Story" was representative of the intended feel for "Denim and Rhinestones." Granted, it sounded like something that would be part of Carrie's catalog. It just didn't convey the vibe I think she had intended with the project.

For me, the holy trinity of this album is Velvet Heartbreak, She Don’t Know, and Burn. I would have released these 3 and followed it up with the deluxe and OOTT.
My unpopular opinions: idc for Crazy Angels, but have always and still really enjoy Ghost Story (although I completely understand the arguments against it being a single).

I maintain that “Crazy Angels” should have been the lead. Not only would it have sold the album’s description by Carrie of being pure “fun,” but it also provided a seamless lyrical segue from the My Savior era to the Denim & Rhinestones era. You know where to find me on a Sunday morning/But tonight I come with a whiskey warning. It would’ve been perfect (and hit #1).

It was streaming worse than HMH before it became a single.

I know this isn’t how Carrie works, but definitely glad it happened!

Not sure if this is new, but it might appear that Carrie has been writing with Brad Paisley. There’s a co-write registered on ASCAP:
"Be Happy" (Underwood, Brad Paisley, Lee Miller)

Kelly talks about Carrie here, didn't realize they actually don't really know one another (it starts about halfway through):

Kelly talks about Carrie here, didn't realize they actually don't really know one another (it starts about halfway through): I get the feeling that Carrie really separates her work and play. While she may be friendly with other artists, most of her close friends seem to be "normal" people and not celebrities. I hope with all the questioning on the topic, Carrie and Kelly decide to record a duet (preferably a ballad) some day and really go off on the vocals.

Pretty much as expected to be honest. There's no middle ground with the media, if you're not BFFs then you hate each other.

I hope with all the questioning on the topic, Carrie and Kelly decide to record a duet (preferably a ballad) some day and really go off on the vocals. Nothing Kelly said in the interview surprises me. And, I didn't see anything even under the surface of any beef between them. The truth is both are busy with their own careers and their own lives. It's completely okay that they don't socialize or have any relationship/friendship really. I agree that it was too bad that Carrie's appearance on Kelly's show happened during COVID, but it was what it was. I would love to have seen them in person and maybe even address this "beef" issue, which we all know has been floating around for decades. It would be great if Carrie had another opportunity to be on Kelly's show and it would also be great to have Kelly on Carrie Country in some way. While I'm on the subject of Carrie Country, I love how Carrie often records messages about other artists. She did one about Miranda recently, which was really really great. Those two have always been pitted against each other, and based on Carrie's comments, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Anyone think we might still get a D&R Tour DVD (or preferably, a release to a streaming service) as the era is being extended?

I wonder if we're going to get a music video for OOTT? I think with the ongoing strikes, we probably can't expect an awards show performance or much promo when the deluxe comes out for this one for a while but I do know music videos can still film with the strike, so I'm hoping they're working on that.

So i heard Velvet Heartbreak on Carrie’s Country yesterday and dang i can’t believe its not going to ever see regular radio(most likely), i think it could have been huge potentially. But i’m all in on OOTT and i guess we can just see how that goes and when thats done who knows what direction she will go for the follow up. Or if the era will be over? I am also curious when Cody Johnson will release the song they have together.
At least we have this new channel on xm to hear all these songs as if they were all singles! I do wish she would reduce the amount of Rolling Stones songs she plays. Never really been a fan of theirs and i tend to change the station when they come on. Other than that no big complaints with CCxm.

Which makes me think it would also make the perfect 4th single!! lol

Velvet Heartbreak Hive, rise up! That song is a smash if I’ve ever heard one.
