It does make me wonder why they released so many songs a good while before the deluxe is out. I mean like it has already been mentioned, there's only two tracks from it we haven't heard yet and the deluxe is still not coming out for over a month. I don't understand their strategy.

I would assume it’s because by releasing songs one at a time, they kind of each have their moment and garner more attention/streams than they ever likely would being just 1/5 new songs. I do get that it makes the actual release day less exciting, but I imagine it increases the streams of the songs in the long run? For example, note the stream count for “End Up With You”, which was also a song that was released ahead of the album. Same case for “D&R” (song), “Crazy Angels”, and “She Don’t Know”. “Take Me Out” already has more streams than 5 songs on the standard edition.

Considering how fast new music is released and consumed in the streaming era, it’s also a strategy employed to keep an impending release top of mind, especially for the average listener who may be a casual fan and not as likely to remember a new release months down the line. Helps a bit with pre-orders and pre-saves to libraries as well.

Each song gets to have it's own little moment, and put in the new music playlist. If I were to guess when the deluxe comes out in a month either Damage or Drunk and Hungover will be the focus track, and get placed in the new music playlists as well. The entire reason they are doing a deluxe imo is to help bring in more streams for the album, and this is the perfect strategy to do that.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD DIGGING UP SO SMALL OUT OF ITS GRAVE IN 2023 IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED.
She needs to perform this one more, as it’s one of her most beloved songs in the fanbase. I get why she doesn’t though, cause she said it’s “really hard to sing.”
This takes me back to 2014 when I first saw her at the Opry. She had already stopped performing it for the most part, very rarely playing it. I remember I tweeted her which show I’d be at and that it was my favorite song of hers. Let’s just say Carrie obliged :) She definitely sees our tweets

I don't know why she doesn't include So Small on the setlist, it's such a good song. One of her best ballads even.

I get why she doesn’t though, cause she said it’s “really hard to sing.” Out of all the songs she sings constantly, "So Small" is the one she deems too hard to sing? I- alright then lmao. I assume she meant emotionally but also she has some pretty emotional songs in her discography she brings out more often than "So Small".

I think she meant it's a more challenging vocal, because I think a lot of the high notes is at the upper part of her vocal range. A lot of her other belting songs are more in her mid range, the belting in SS is in the upper part of her range, which most likely gets more difficult to do as she is getting older.

I wouldn't relish being Carrie and opening for Guns n' Roses. Being a pop country artist trying to entertain a bunch of rockers mustn't be a rewarding experience for her. I'm surprised she agreed to it.

Someone on a different site had the sheet music and said the belting parts are in her upper register as opposed to some of her other songs. It seems harder to sing to me. Well, they're absolutely 150% incorrect. I'd stake my life and that of my entire family on it, that's the level of certainty I have. It's a belted high E-flat. She has sang this note and higher throughout her entire career. In "Wasted," in "Last Name," in "Good Girl," in "Flat on the Floor," in "Low," in "How Great Thou Art," in "O Holy Night," etc. etc. etc. The note is right in her mid-belt wheelhouse. and she has higher notes in other songs. Some Hearts, AAG, Undo It, JTTW (the final chorus, "ohhh i'm lettiiing (E5) go, so give me oooone (E5) more chance".... I remember during an interview before Carnival Ride was released, she stated that she belted her highest note ever in AAG (honey you oughta KNOOOOOW (E5)) ... yet, she belted that same note multiple times throughout the Some Hearts album, including on the title track and for the exact same length of time as in AAG. and she was belting F#5 in "Alone" during her summer tour every night leading up to the release of Carnival Ride. Sustained and with vibrato. I think it's the specific way that she places her voice (ie. position of the larynx) on certain notes in specific songs that make them "feel" higher for her than when she hits them in other songs. That's why I've always said and will continue to say that she could greatly benefit from formal vocal training. I don't care what anyone else says, so whoever wants to come at me for it you're more than welcome to. Been around there and back a million times already. It doesn't phase me.

I'm surprised she agreed to it. Any chance to share her music and talent with an audience who might otherwise not know of her is worthwhile. If she gains just a few “fans” at each show, it’s worth the gig. A lot of these people may have had no clue that she has an affinity for rock music, and some probably didn’t know what her voice is capable of before seeing her. So while obviously it’s not something she needs to do regularly, I’m sure spending time with G&R in any capacity is something Carrie will always agree to, bc she stans them pretty hard!

Anyway,... and as far as her opening for GNR she's a huge fan, and just wanted to do it for fun to watch their shows. Sort of a bucket list kinda thing. It was only three shows anyway, not the full tour.

Ok I'll admit, my word choice there was definitely a bit verging on the melodramatic. 😂 But I'll chalk it up to a severe case of "Carriefans PTSD" LOL. I forget we're all older now and ideally have grown more tolerant of each others' opinions without feeling the need to "fan-shame" whenever someone criticizes anything. For what it's worth, I always remember you being a more level-headed, "voice of reason" type on that forum, even way back in its heyday when we were all youngins!

I'd be in heaven if she would add "Alone" to her setlist for the next round at Reflection(seeing her in a month!), or when she does her next full tour. I wish i could have been in Nashville last night for that song, and an added bonus to see her do the other different songs she did. The videos i've seen on socials have all been incredible.

As much as I'd friggen' LOVE this, I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it was far more likely to witness Lord Jesus Himself descending from His holy lair for a special cameo appearance during the JTTW/HGTA medley. Something tells me hearing Carrie sing "Alone" again is a modern luxury she's reserved solely for the 80s hair band fandom in attendance at these Guns n Roses concerts. I have a feeling she's going to keep "Welcome to the Jungle" as her cover of choice. It got an incredible reception from the audience and from critics that reviewed the show.

Already more promo than the standard version got last summer. 🥲
Also she has been getting some seriously high praise for her GnR sets. I don’t think it’s totally out of the realm of possibility that we’d see a co-headline Halftime Show with them.

While I’d take a Carrie/G&R halftime show over her never getting the gig, I’d rather her do it alone and cover “Paradise City” (or even bring them out for JUST that one). Axel’s vocals just don’t cut it anymore, IMO. And we’ve seen the energy she still brings to it solo.
If she were to bring out G&R for a song, I would love for her to balance it out with a more traditional country act with a hit that everyone knows. Bringing out Dolly (bc who doesn’t love Dolly?) for a bit of “I Will Always Love You” would be a moment and show her versatility.
Another opportunity to create a “moment” - bring out Kelly and sing together on one of her bigger songs that the general public knows and loves.
I’d hope the other 4-6 or so songs she’d get to do solo. She more than deserves the opportunity and would crush the Superbowl stage.
I think she’d have a lot of doubters going in, but if she plans the set/guests correctly, it could likely be a highlight of her career in showing the GP what she’s made of.

I hope the promo includes releasing the D&R tour on a streaming service…
While they’re at it, put all the tours on a streaming service… still mad we never got CP360.
I think it’s great promo for Vegas, too, to give people a taste of what her shows are like from the comfort of their own homes.

Especially as a fan who never got to see the tour due to a lack of Euro dates. A release of a concert special on a major streaming platform would be excellent promo. ETA: Just asked ChatGPT to create a set list for Carrie’s SB halftime show. It’s funny. Set List: Opening Number: "Champion" Country Medley: "Before He Cheats" "Cowboy Casanova" "Blown Away" Collaborative Performance with Special Guest 1: Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton perform "Hillbilly Bone" Power Ballad Moment: "Jesus, Take the Wheel" Energetic Performance: "Southbound" Acoustic Segment: "Temporary Home" "Wasted" Collaborative Performance with Special Guest 2: Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban perform "The Fighter" Feel-Good Anthem: "Good Girl" Tribute to Legends of Country Music: Medley including songs by Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Loretta Lynn Closing Spectacle: "Cry Pretty"

I think she could do a halftime show. She'd need to pick her absolute biggest songs though people want to hear songs they know.
Opening:
Good Girl Cowboy Casanova Somethin' Bad (with Miranda)
Blown Away Two Black Cadillacs Church Bells If I Didn't Love You (with Jason)
Alone (Heart Cover) Undo It Last Name Paradise City (with G&R)
Encore: Jesus Take the Wheel Before He Cheats
I think this would pay homage to her musical carrier, while also performing the songs that stand the most chance of being known by her outside of the country genre. Maybe "The Champion" thrown somewhere in there as well.

Creating a setlist is so hard. I couldn’t really see her singing “Alone”, but it would be amazing. I imagine she’d swap out some of these for AAG, Last Name, Undo It, SITW, IIDLY, and JTTW (could she get away not singing this one?).
(Sick intro)
1. Cowboy Casanova 2. Good Girl 3. Alone 4. Paradise City (happy for solo but with G+R is fine)
(storm siren to silence)
5. Blown Away (a cappella start, builds) 6. Church Bells - big choir finish
(Massive bell sound and stage goes dark, single spotlight shines to reveal Dolly sitting on a stool)
7. Dolly (solo part of 9 to 5 a cappella with a mic catching her playing the song using her acrylic nails)
(Picks up an acoustic guitar)
8. Dolly - I Will Always Love you
(Spotlight lights up Carrie on the stool next to her as they sing it together. Dolly exits as the song ends)
9. The Champion (with Ludacris) 10. Before He Cheats
G&R, Dolly, and Ludacris all on the same stage 😂
