^ The Champion into Before He Cheats would flow perfectly! Maybe a small peace of "Jesus take the Wheel" with Dolly during that acoustic part of the show?

Not me going to the notes in my phone to find the set list I created for Carrie a few years ago when there was legit buzz surrounding the idea…
Opening:
1) Crescendoing instrumental mashup of multiple Carrie songs (undertones of Blown Away, SITW; some thunder, with JTTW being the most predominant in the mashup). Lighting slowly focuses on Carrie and she gently transitions into singing a falsetto version of the JTTW chorus… her voice floating above the music at first, followed by her full voice for the first verse and final chorus of JTTW.
2) Instrumental transition to “The Champion”, intro drops hard, Luda joins. They each do a verse into the final bridge, then the music shifts, we hear faint signature G&R sounds behind Carrie’s final note on TC before fading into complete silence/darkness.
3) Complete silence/darkness leads to intro of “Welcome to the Jungle”, G&R joins.
4) G&R transition to “Paradise City” Carrie changes & then joins them to finish.
5) Music transitions to “Before He Cheats” w/ G&R + Carrie’s band rocking it.
6) Transitional instrumental moment for the bands leads to the bridge and final verse of “Blown Away”… The band goes hard, Carrie wails like never before, nails the runs, holds the final note forever as the music fades and the spotlight focuses on just her.

I’d never forgive her if she left out “Church Bells”. Lead that choir, ma’am.

Leaving out “Church Bells” would be criminal. The truth is if she ever does it, it will definitely be a collaboration of some sort. They don’t typically allow more than 15 minutes, so if she only gets half of that time for her material I’d prefer 1:30-2 minutes of three hits than 45 seconds of five or six hits. If it’s any consolation I’d be okay switching out my “Blown Away” finale for a “Church Bells” one… maybe throw them both in if there’s time! I do think she just HAS to include JTTW. I feel like it would fit best at the very beginning where she could start sweet and light before going full rocker… sorta reflecting her career. They could even do a montage of career highlights, make it like a sweet nostalgia moment before the show takes off.

I don't think we will ever witness Carrie doing the Superbowl. She isn't a big enough mainstream artist for that kind of audience. Most non country fans wouldn't even know her hits.

On the recent Billboard Pop Shop podcast, the hosts (Billboard execs) recommended Carrie or Carrie/GNR as possible halftime performers. Obviously they’re not in charge of these decisions, but it’s still industry support.
And I still think it’s interesting that the halftime producers attended a Reflection date last year in Vegas.

I’m not expecting it by any means, but I wouldn’t be shocked by it, either. Every year, I see her name tossed out there, and she’s usually the only country artist I read mentioned. Being linked to Sunday night Football and NBC (I know they switch networks) also wouldn’t hurt her chances, I imagine. She’s also garnered quite a reputation as a live performer. Do we just expect the Super Bowl to never have a country artist headline due to it not being mainstream? I guess that’s possible. I've often read that most fans of country music tend to be tiluning in anyway (vs maybe the fans of a pop girlie). But if they do decide to get a country artist in the next 5 years, I couldn’t see them booking anyone else.

Carrie’s name is plenty big enough alone to headline. Yes, it’s a worldwide event so mainstream/global is the obvious route, but it’s really an American event and most everyone in the United States of America knows who Carrie Underwood is. She has a couple massive hits and a few very big ones to work with, and she’s an American Idol winner - who two decades later is regarded as one of the top entertainers in country music. So the idea that Carrie doesn’t have a big enough name, or the repertoire to headline a fifteen minute show… the girl who came into megastardom under similar pressures weekly for half a year… baffles me. There are definitely bigger stars with bigger / worldwide hits, but if they were to ever select a country artist to headline or co-headline, Carrie is surely at the top of that list. Her chances then increase exponentially if she’s joined with a band as big as G&R.

I agree Carrie would be the top of the list for country performers but it’s seemed to me the last 10 years the superbowl has really made an a effort to turn into a global event with their music artist choices.

Should remain on the set list for eternity. Her lung capacity is unmatched 👑 ETA - Anyone else think we’ll get either “Drunk and Hungover” or “Damage” on the 8th or 15th?

^^i sure hope not. I wouldn’t care if she released SDK(live) though
If she releases anything though on the 8th or 15th, it really should only be the OOTT video, assuming there is one

Kind of getting to the point I hope she skips. Although I do love seeing her attend and OOTT promo would be great. Seeing how quick the CMAs have moved some artists into EOTY when it took them a decade to move Carrie there, despite tons of #1s, huge album sales, sold out tours, hosting, etc. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Especially after all she’s done for that show. And the fact that they STILL haven’t given her a win in that category is just irritating.

She’s nominated for the biggest award.. it’s an honor even still. To continually be regarded by your peers as one of the top five entertainers in the genre nearly two decades in is a major accomplishment. Timing and politics are why she hasn’t won, and even still she’s one of the most nominated women in country music history for EOTY. I want the win as bad as any fan, but it’s hardly a snub to be nominated in such a category… clearly there is still major support for Carrie within the industry and those supporters deserve to see Carrie shine and once again display why she’s better than all the rest, even if the votes don’t fall in line to reflect that.

She’ll go.
I think this is a huge feat considering when each artist released their debut singles:
Carrie 2005 Chris Stapleton 2013 Luke Combs 2015 Morgan 2016 Lainey 2021
It’s her time, she’s done so much to deserve this. Yet, I don’t expect it. I will say, I fear that once she does win it, she’ll stop getting nominated (regardless of whether she deserves it).
I think the silverlining of her never having won it is that it’s quite a positive narrative for her (all she’s accomplished at this stage in her career and how obvious it is she deserves it).
🤷🏽♂️

Honestly if she wins it I don’t care if she’s ever nominated again. Idk if that’s an unpopular opinion or not. EOTY is probably pretty much the only thing left in her bucket list for awards. I’d love more awards, but that one is really the only big one left, that she’d like to cross off.

How would Morgan Wallen not win this award? Biggest album and song of the year. He's by far the most buzzed-about Country artist of the last couple of years.

Statistically there’s no question, but the CMAs are far from predictable and they haven’t shown him much love yet… he could very well win this year, but he doesn’t seem to have the buzz from within the industry that he does among the country fan base.

Let’s not ignore the glaring snub though for FVOTY. Carrie was easily in the top 5 of female country artists over the past year and she got snubbed yet again. I don’t even get my hopes up for EOTY, because they always seem to give it to someone else when Carrie has been working hard over the past 18 years to give us fans a high quality show.

Not that I really ever poured much stock into these openings, but this year’s is by far the best one to date.

Literally just realized that my post posted twice, lol.
Anyway, the tempo of this year's theme seems slightly faster than last season's. Also, at least to me, it's more country/rock production-wise.

I love her SNF intros. It's the only music video type thing we get from her that actually looks high budget anymore lol.

Speaking of music videos, where is "Out of That Truck"... I was hoping the deluxe would revitalize this era but it's not looking so good in the lead up to the release.
