Loving the sound! Also love that they’re releasing tracks, I wonder if these pre releases will end up being the singles. Wouldn’t be the first era they did that!

Surprised we are getting another song so soon(again) lol ghost story has only been out a month…
Correct me if im wrong but it was Love Wins and End Up With You as the instant grat tracks from CP and those were on back to back weeks 2 weeks out(8/31/18 and 9/7/18) from the album release(9/14/18), right?
Based on the Crazy Angels clip, and D&R in full, Ghost Story easily still the weakest of the 3. I will confirm this for sure come friday though haha
Makes me wonder how many more she will release between friday and june 10. 1 more? 2 maybe?

This is really giving me Carnival Ride vibes. Queen is giving us all the eras in one album! ❤️

So because I'm that person, I typed "Carrie Underwood Crazy Angels length" into Google and it brought me to the link for the YouTube audio that hasn't been released yet and it says the song is 2 minutes and 37 seconds. If accurate, I feel like we're going to get a short album based on the already released songs.

Honestly, it could work in her favor in the long run in terms of streaming/playlisting as long as the right singles are selected

I don't care about song length as long as the songcraft isn't slighted. The Beatles and Motown had short songs but still usually had bridges, pre-choruses, etc.

Longer clip of the song. I love it. It feels so nostalgic to her past eras. I’m really rooting for it to be a single eventually, cause I just know radio would eat it up. Thanks Maddkat for the long preview!

The Beatles and Motown had short songs but still usually had bridges, pre-choruses, etc. I'm always apprehensive of shorter songs, especially in country. I think the length was fine on a song like "Denim & Rhinestones". However, I find many of Carrie's songs, including "Ghost Story", could benefit from more information or details. A better understanding into why the character feels a certain way makes the song's message more impactful. 20-30 additional seconds of a verse/bridge can often achieve this IMO. Knowing the wait between Carrie's mainstream country releases, I just want more music than 12 songs at 2:30 - 3:00 minutes. I'm sure some songs are longer, but if the post is correct, these songs are not indicative of that. Streaming will probably never be her strength, so I don't see why they'd cater to it (if they even considered streaming while writing, that is).

Someone on ATRL posted the track lengths (so take it with a grain of salt) but none of the songs are longer than three minutes and forty five seconds and a majority of the songs are less than three minutes and twenty seconds. I know most people don't mind shorter songs but I am one of the few that it bothers lol.

I understand your point about having more information/details, but that's about the writing and not the song length. I think specific information can be presented in a short song if the writers are intentional about it. Radiohead has a 2 minute song about a family being bombed. Queen's "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" paints a real lyrical sketch in under 2 minutes. The White Stripes "Fell in Love With A Girl" manages to say a lot lyrically in about 2 minutes, too.

Sounds like it could be a great single! Love it! Yes. It doesn't make a 'statement' I guess, so maybe that's why it wasn't chosen as a lead single, but "GS" was a poor choice so I am not sure what the basis is for that decision.

Delicious pop-country track. She really is recreating SH/CR-level bops with this record. I’m excited.
After this and D&R, it also confuses me as to why ‘Ghost’ was selected as the lead. That Grammy Awards performance could’ve been decked out with denim! and! rhinestones!

If it’s an exhibit perhaps Carrie isn’t included (which yes doesn’t make sense). But if for some reason they have nothing on display for/about her it would make sense she wouldn’t be listed

Feel like it was glaring that Carrie wasn't on that list. I'd say she's done in country music than almost everyone on that list with the exception of a select few. For whatever reason though, some critics just don't care for her, and don't give her the credit she deserves.
I mean Carrie has the third most #1 hits of any female country artist ever, and she's still extremely relevant and putting out hit songs/ albums.

"Crazy Angels" takes me right back to when I saw her live for the first time on the Carnival Ride Tour. It's like an energetic lovechild of "Some Hearts" and "Twisted." Love that she's revisiting this sound.

I’m not worried about the shorter song lengths. I’m pretty sure it’s just indicative of more uptempos. “Crazy Angels” is the shortest song on the album and it feels complete to me.
Anyway, “She Don’t Know” is out 5/20.

I was able to defend the choice of “Cry Pretty” as a lead single…I can’t do that with “Ghost Story.” As great as that song is, it had absolutely no business being her first solo country single in nearly two years when “Crazy Angels” exists. That 90 seconds is country-pop MAGIC. Can’t wait for the full song!
