I was able to defend the choice of “Cry Pretty” as a lead single…I can’t do that with “Ghost Story.” As great as that song is, it had absolutely no business being her first solo country single in nearly two years when “Crazy Angels” exists. That 90 seconds is country-pop MAGIC. Can’t wait for the full song! This! Crazy Angles fits exactly what I was hoping she'd come back swinging with for a lead single. Upbeat, light, fun, radio friendly, and the perfect song to blast over the summer. Plus she actually wrote it.

Carrie said herself that GS was chosen as the lead because it’s closest to the classic CU revenge song but with a twist. Also I think the imagery allows for more elaborate performances.

Commercial success is nice, but if their focus is on entertainment value and potential (like GS at CMTs), then I’m definitely here for the show. As much as it is fun to watch singles climb up charts, it’s more fun watching Carrie fly while she sings. GS isn’t the most radio-friendly song relative to what we’ve heard so far, but the driver for that was obviously Carrie’s creative vision for the performance. Having that performance to go back to and watch for decades to come is worth it!

Hahahaha, her label is so bad at picking lead singles holy shit. I thought maybe they chose GS because it was the most country but that’s not even the case. Crazy Angels is terrific and it really sucks this album was set up so poorly lmao. (Still prefer D&R to everything)

Pre-ordered her album last night, can't wait! I couldn't say if "Ghost Story" is a bad choice until we hear the rest of the album. Sometimes I think labels and artists pick the weaker of the single options for first because first singles automatically have more energy around them to help make those songs hits than if they were second or third, for example, while saving the stronger options for second and third.

I’m not saying GS is the only song that flying works for, what I’m saying is Carrie clearly had a vision for the song and wanted to kick the era off with that imagery. Not that she can’t fly to another song, but given what she delivered last week at the CMTs, I’m not as upset about the single choice as I was before.

I think I like GS and D&R over Crazy Angels, but no doubt CA is going to be a fun one for her to perform.

It may not be the album I want from her at this stage of her career, but it's shaping up to be a tremendous album and I'm very grateful for it.

I am shocked at the lack of Carrie here. Carrie was not included because they’re going to make one whole section just for her because Queens dont share

Loving the throwback vibe from Denim & Rhinestones and Crazy Angels!
I am hoping we will get some awesome videos this era. Perhaps some fun 80s themed ones!

One thing I have noticed is she hasn't went off vocally on any of three already released songs. I know a lot of people want her to tone it down but I am hoping she didn't get rid of her vocal acrobatics completely for this album.
Regardless, I like all three songs!

Don’t worry, I’m sure she’s hiding some all-time career vocals somewhere. No album has gone without at least one MOMENT from her.
I gave “Crazy Angels” a spin upon first waking up, and I stand by my statement from earlier. GS had no business being the lead when this one exists. It would’ve gone perfectly on the radio with these upcoming summer months. And she could’ve found a reason to fly. Heaven knows I’m flying low tonight was the lyric ready to be brought fully to life. And also it sounded like a pretty genius lyrical transition from the MS era to where we’re at now.
I also co-sign the praise for the lyric videos. I want lyric videos for every song now, because these visuals are INSANE. Hopefully the music videos will be just as great; and I too hope we get an 80s-style video. D&R would be the perfect song for that!

"Crazy Angels" gives me a Shania meets Martina vibe and I'm here for it. Another solid track! And to address my previous comment on song length, CA is an example where I don't feel the (lack-of) length hinders it in any way. I do feel like the production fits the song, even if it's a bit on the heavy side. I do usually feel this way with my first few listens of new Carrie music, and rarely notice it beyond that. So if we're getting "She Don't Know" a month from now, doesn't that seem a bit odd that we got D&R and CA this early? Or is time just moving faster than I realize? Seems like they'd release another track between now and SDK?

CA is probably the strongest of the 3 songs released thus far. My only complaint is that it’s so short. 2:36 is probably the shortest length for a Carrie song yet.
I don’t get why they’re releasing another song before the album drops. I get that they want to build buzz and momentum, but why would you show your hand so to speak before it’s necessary? I’m personally hoping for another ballad at least. Idk how I’d feel about an album of just uptempo.

Seems like they'd release another track between now and SDK? I’d guess we’ll get the music video for GS between now and then, rather than another new track. And I have to imagine that’ll be the last new track we get before the album in June. Excited to see some promo for this record. Hoping she performs these other tracks on the late night circuits.

What's with all of these short songs. I hope there's longer songs on the album.

I am shocked at the lack of Carrie here. That's cuz they listened to her lastest 2 songs and want nothing to do with that...

Yes, I’m sure Carrie is crying into one of her 8 GRAMMYS because one of her dresses isn’t showcased in an exhibit alongside the likes of legends like Jessie Jo Dillon and Danielle Bradbery.

Looks like a performance of the song with dancers? I hope to see a storyline in the video too.
