Randee’s aesthetic actually makes sense with GS. It worked with “Hallelujah” too. Her redemption!
The love interest having the “Two Black Cadillacs” single cover on his phone is a bit of a kii.

I agree. It’s definitely an improvement over the Storyteller and Cry Pretty videos. I love the concept of the starlet haunting the love interest.
The issue is Randee shoots literally everything like it is a glamour shot. So even interesting scenes, like the backstage set with the mirrors, become a photoshoot.

She looked absolutely gorgeous throughout the video! I do wish it felt a bit more cohesive and leaned more into the theatre aspect that was teased, but overall I think it's a huge improvement vs. what we've seen on the past two albums.

A HUGE step up. However, the incessant photo shoot vibe is a little overdone. I appreciate the semblance of a storyline and of course Carrie looks angelic, but it’s almost a little too glamorous given the theme of the song, imo.
Love the aesthetic, though, she looks stunning!

I don’t know; I kinda saw the vision. She was haunting him and his every waking thought, and perhaps the photoshoot vibe is how he keeps thinking of her.
Easily her best music video since LTG…aka in nearly a decade. I thought it was really cool that we saw older photos of her from the Blown Away and Storyteller eras. And those OUTFITS! Especially on stage and in that royal ballroom! Yes ma’am, give us unlimited budget!

It would have been more beneficial to play with the emotions of the song and feel like she was actually there but it was his imagination. Also, it felt more like the guy was the one who was heartbroken, not the other way around. Without the song, we wouldn’t know. I think that’s kinda the point or the song though..at least in the narrator’s eyes, she is saying the guy will be heartbroken and kicking himself for letting her go. Almost like “you won’t find anyone else like me and you will regret this” kinda message. Of course that is what she is probably wanting/expecting to happen haha whether the man in the song actually feels that way, we’ll never know. But that’s what I get from the song at least, so I think for the purpose of the lyrics/message it has to be shown that way in the video Edit: I just re-read your post and now I don’t know if I am just agreeing with what you said or offering an alternate interpretation 😂 so I apologize if what I wrote is what you were basically saying too lol |

I commend her for trying something new but I am not sure if the video worked well. The camera work could have been better and there were too many swapping of scenes. The video was better than some of her most recent ones though.

As a country artist, I commend her for doing something interesting with her videos. And she looked incredible here. However, I'm just not a fan of Randee's aesthetic for pictures or videos. While I preferred it to the CP-era videos, it felt like a long photoshoot in various locations. I think their best videos together were "Smoke Break" (I just really liked the aesthetic and thought it was shot nicely) and "Hallelujah" (which fit the song well).

Hope she starts changing it up with a different director soon. I used to get super excited about her videos, but today I forgot it was even releasing until 5 min before it happened. Happy I didn't get my hopes up, cause it's pretty much another nothing music video. Carrie looks stunning, but as far as the video goes, it looks cheap.
I haven't been impressed by any of her music videos since LTG. Smoke Break is an honorable mention, but even it was pretty basic.

Why do most of Randee's videos always feel so cheaply edited? Acting is usually painful too.
I can't remember liking any of her videos since Blown Away music video.
Her videos always try to look pretty but brings absolutely no added meaning/perspective/fun/value to the song. Hardly ever sells the song or bring much re-watch value.
Why does Carrie keep going back to her for videos? I don't get what Carrie sees!

I remember reading a quote before of Carrie’s where she stated that she feels most beautiful when she’s photographed by Randee. So, I think it’s the glamour that appeals to her. Also when Carrie likes somebody, it takes her a while to venture out. That’s why we were stuck with Roman White forever too.
I don’t get why she didn’t stick with Theresa Wingert. The CC and GG videos are full of beauty shots but felt like actual music videos too.

I liked the video after 2nd watch. The song and performances (moreso performances) have been incredibly dramatic. I thought the pacing of the video and Carrie’s natural movement toned the song down a bit. It makes sense for it to be a bunch of glamour shots because Carrie is showing her ex what he’s missing. I wish there were more scenes with the swing because she looks so gorgeous. Carrie has a naturally slow, chilled out but ethereal vibe, I don’t really expect exciting from her videos as of late. She brings that with her performance.
