Just a little update no one asked for...I take back what I said about this album not really having any standouts. "Burn" has grown on me quite a bit over the last few days. I'll join the group who thinks this should be a single at some point. "Wanted Woman" and "Faster" have also grown on me to a lesser extent. Honestly there isn't really a "bad" song on here, but these three stick out as the best for me right now.
I think it would be hard to rank her singles in terms of radio friendliness. Radio and music trends have changed so much over the course of Carrie's career that trying to speculate how her earlier hits (JTTW, BHC, etc) would do if released today would be a hard task IMO. I don't know that it's a fair comparison.
As far as her competition goes...is Morgan Wallen's album eligible this year, or was it last year? I thought he released a new album for some reason. Do the Grammys normally nominate more than one female for the album category? Also, I don't think Carrie has ever been nominated for the Country Album category, has she? She might have an uphill battle ahead of her.

Yeah, I don’t know that she’ll get into Country Album. She literally never has; I have no reason to believe this would change that. (Also have no reason to believe it wouldn’t; just going with the trend.)
I’m really just happy that she got another win this year, esp. for a project that meant so much to her. It’s cool to see. AND it’s her first album category recognition, which is great! She/her material has now been award trophies in album, song (JTTW, BHC, and BA), performance, and individual artist/person categories. It’s cool to see.

😑 I’m aware she never has been nominated in that category but it feels like a relatively light year for country album releases which is what prompted my question as to who her likely competition would be. Miranda, Lady A and Zac Brown Band are the only winners inside of the last 15 years that have new projects that are eligible and Miranda’s is the only one that seems to have made much noise. That doesn’t mean they’ll have an issue filling up the category with albums besides Carrie’s but a lighter year with less obvious picks could increase her chances this time.

Honestly, the fact that Some Hearts (a juggernaut era not only in country, but overall that year), Blown Away (often consider her original masterpiece), or Storyteller (which was one of the best reviewed country albums of that year) were no nominated, I have 0 hopes for this album. Would it be nice? Absolutely, but I can see them nominating some random bro-country artist who nobody knows before Carrie at this point when it comes to this category. Although, maybe now that she just won an album award at the Grammys she may get lucky and nab a nomination?

Ok, I forgot about that Zach guy who just dropped a country album with a bunch of songs and debuted higher than Carrie did so you’re probably right. At the same time, the Recording Academy is well aware of her presence and it seems like they’d have to go even farther out of their way to skip over her this year.

Can't imagine the possibility of this album being nominated if it isn't even getting much major reviews.
Is it actually possible.... that Carrie herself doesn't want it reviewed??

I think 29: written in stone could be a front runner for album (idk if it’s eligible given the ep was already nominated, but the full album was released in eligibility.) I really don’t think this album was made with any intent on getting awards.
For the post about her most radio friendly vs her least I’d say
Most: Before he cheats Church bells All American girl Blown away Undo it
Least: Cry pretty Love wins Drinking alone Mamas song I told you so Temporary Home

Is there going to be a rankdown for the album? I am 100% hosting one in the near future, don’t you worry! 👍🏻

Let's take a moment to appreciate how the beautiful photos in the lyric booklet go with the songs they're associated with. I love details like that & wish other artists & their teams would put more thought like that into the booklets.

I'm still enjoying this album. I hope Faster will be a future single even though I don't see it happening.

On the vip package page, it says that the meet & greet is for the 'top price lower level ticket in the first five rows' but that only qualifies for the ghost story package since that one also says 'top price & lower level' Is that accurate or does it not matter which vip package is bought for the meet & greet? www.carrieunderwoodofficial.com/denimandrhinestonestour-packages/

Well, this flatlined. Fell out of the top 50 completely. Disappointing to say the least. Shame, because there are so many radio friendly songs on this album. Let’s hope radio can salvage this era, because clearly the album sales aren’t there.

Also, she kinda completely stopped promoting the album through performances and interviews which admittedly are my favorite parts of an era.

Someone needs to lock her in a basement to film TikToks.
But, really, Luke f**king Combs doing 65-75k with his new album tells me all I need to know about the state of that chart. Physical sales are dead and most mainstream Country artists just don’t have the streaming audience to be competitive.

If you're not a 20-something streaming force or one of, like, 5 exceptions, this is just the brutal reality of how the charts work these days. It's stupid and I won't get used to it. Particularly brutal for us stans of 2000s divas *cries*
"Burn" is great btw. A summer vibe for dayz.

I will say…even Luke Combs only doing 65k-75k is a huge underperformance. The dude just sold out 3 stadiums in Denver, Seattle, and Atlanta. But yeah I’m also just thoroughly confused by the way this one was rolled out.

Y’all I’m not stressing at all. She gave us an amazing album! She is headed to London this week to get some international press! July is a mostly quiet month for her and a lot of artists generally since those with kids have to go back to school in August and they want to get in that quality time. And I’m sure promo will bump back up in the months of August, September, and October for the tour! Plus this album is full of fantastic songs across the board and I feel like this is going to be a successful radio era. So put all of that in the pro column y’all.

Luke's numbers that he is predicted to pull in made me not stress over the album sales at all. Of course I wish they were better, but it's happening to everyone, not her. Even the trendy Luke Combs is pulling in crap numbers, while he's in the peak of his career.
She has a solid album with potential singles that are locked and ready to go. Let's enjoy this era.

Sales in general aren't great, but the position is what is worrisome. It's not like the album is hanging around the top 10/20 overall and with sales similar to everyone. Carrie's album likely being out of the top 10 country albums in week 3 is what is mind boggling, and there is no real positive spin to it. Even worse is "Ghost Story" isn't going to peak for another month or three unless they move on, so the album will fall even farther. I say move on to single 2 now and hope it helps the album.

I believe it's about time we realize the Carrie has transitioned to the point of her career where new music isn't going to perform well no matter what they do. It happens to everyone. It's completely normal. She has had an amazing run. So long as her back catalog still brings in the casual fans to her shows and keeps them streaming while the hardcore fans fill in the gaps and stream/purchase the new stuff, she will be fine. That's just the nature of becoming a legacy act.
I, for one, quite welcome Carrie to this point in her career. Once musicians reach this stage, they're able to be way more creative with their music as there's a lot less focus on creating music that will sell well because, quite simply, it won't. And it shows. This album is one of the best of her career and I and the other 15k of us that love it will be streaming it for years to come while the general public keeps giving her their coin to hear "Before He Cheats" for the trillionth time.
(That being said, I'm still perplexed at the choice of lead single when it's easily one of the weakest tracks on the album lol.)

Even though I think GS was definitely a weird choice for a lead single, given the material that was available. I think it'd be silly to pull it now, given that it's gaining traction on radio and has a solid chance at making it to #1 as long as its callouts don't take a turn for the worst. Last era, we would've loved to have radio get behind a single like they have been getting behind GS (minus Southbound.)
As for the legacy title, I mean I know it'll come eventually, but I'll have to see how the singles perform this era, as well as the next album's sales look like before I delegate her to that. I don't know off the top of my head how everyone else's albums did post the first week, but I know Carrie's pretty much matched where everyone else was at for first week sales.

I guess I get that, I'm just someone who doesn't really 'get' the point of a radio #1 if it's not doing anything for the album or the artist's momentum in general. Even if "GS" hits #1 at radio, the album will keep dropping and is it really a song ticket buyers are going to be hungry for in a concert? That's the way I look at it.
