I remember the 90s and 00s when there was the same group of like 15-20 artists churning out hits, in almost a cycled fashion, at any given time. It was an anomaly to see more than one or two new artists in the top 10, or even top 20. Wait, when was this? I can think of 10-15 women who were routinely getting hits in the 1990s, and we know there were plenty of men doing so as well. This, which is why "GS" has been stalled around #12 for weeks now. It's like it just has to bide it's time until there is space. This is all why an airplay hit rarely means anything to me anymore. As for the CMAs and EOTY; what has Carrie done within the eligibility year? Their eligibility year always throws me off, but I don't think Carrie had much of a tour during this eligibility? Maybe 20-30 artists or more? Idk. Just always seemed to be the same group more or less, with a few falling off and a few additions here and there. Now it’s just a free for all in terms of new artists coming up. Which is great! Radio just can’t seem to figure it out..

The Vegas residency (both runs of it), headlined Stagecoach, released an album, Ghost Story on the charts, also a much bigger social media presence this past year…I think she has definitely done enough to get a nomination

Y’all GS hasn’t stalled. It’s still got a relatively good bullet. The charts are just clogged. The only people who’ve seen change in chart position is Combs, Wallen, Tenpenny, and Swindell.
After this week 4 songs ahead of GS will be on their decent. So we will see more movement. I am kind of getting teird of it being the single though and hope the next single storms up the chart unlike this non event has.

I am kind of getting teird of it being the single though and hope the next single storms up the chart unlike this non event has. Well, it has stalled in that it has been around #12 for awhile now (that's on Mediabase; it's been around #14 on Billboard Country Airplay for weeks). Even if other songs haven't moved much either, that doesn't mean "GS" hasn't stalled. And while it has a bullet, it isn't a bullet of 500 or something. It's clearly lying in wait for other songs to peak, and then a campaign will kick in at some point to get it to a peak. Additionally Kane Brown, Luke Combs and Cole Swindell all passed it with newer songs, though that's to be expected. Tyler Hubbard and Morgan Wallen could pass it within weeks, too, which will delay its peak. Regardless of anything, I think we all agree the song isn't peaking until September/October, which means there won't be any momentum for the album until the CMAs. Considering the album is already down to #44 on Country Albums, at that point even a 100% boost would just mean a place in the top 20/30. (Miranda's latest album is a lot higher up at #22; what is keeping it afloat?)

This is clearly off topic but I didn’t know if y’all saw Carrie’s CMA submissions that have made it to the second round of voting that starts tomorrow!!! She still in the running for… Entertainer Of The Year Female Vocalist Of The Year Album Of The Year - “Denim and Rhinestones” Artist/Producer Single Of The Year - If I Didn't Love You Musical Event Of The Year- IIDLY Music Video Of The Year -IIDLY & Ghost Story Gosh, please don't reward Ghost Story with a music video nod. I don't want Carrie to keep getting the wrong idea!

What do we think the Metacritic score for the album would have been if had gotten one? I personally think probably in the early 70s which is pretty much on track with her more well-received albums.

Okay, so realistically ... Do you think we will ever get a Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Okay, so realistically ... Do you think we will ever get a Super Bowl Halftime Show? Not as a strictly-CU-headliner, no. I can absolutely see her doing it as a co-headline, like JLo/Shakira; Snoop/Eminem/Kendrick/MJB/Dre; etc.

Could totally see Carrie/G&R…
If Carrie came out and did one of two of hers and then G&R joined to do some of theirs with Carrie, I think that would make for a great show. It would be considered a co-headline, but I imagine Carrie would step in on the tougher vocals that Axl tends to struggle with in his advanced age, relatively speaking. If they brought to the stage the energy from Stagecoach or London, it would be a hit for sure.

I'm home sick with covid, and I've been re-watching her American Idol performances. She has come such a long way. I'm so so proud of her.

Anybody know how the tour is doing/ selling with pre sales? I really hope she has great numbers like her last tours but the soft response to the album does have me worried.

At this point in her career I don’t think it really matters a whole lot what album she’s touring. She’s becoming a legacy act, people want to see Carrie Underwood in concert regardless.

Maren's team abandoned "Circles..." after it hit the top 10 and have moved on to single #2. "Ghost Story" has had a similar rise to "Circles..." and Carrie's album fell almost as hard as Maren's album after debuting. I wonder if Carrie's team will abandon "GS" once its top 10 and move on, or if they will gun for #1.

Surprisingly GS is testing very very well (at least based on Monday Morning Intel reporting- it’s #3 for callout score LW) whereas “Circles…” never tested too well. So I’m thinking they’re prob gonna try riding out GS to the top

I image they’ll stick with it for at least that long to see what it can do. It is set up better than Miranda’s and Maren’s leads, with it having good testing on its side. I will be happy when we finally do get the second single though, because the other songs on the album are miles better than this imo.

I mentioned it a page or two back, but can confirm that the tour is selling very well. The album’s performance is not indicative of her draw as a live act.

Carrie could’ve bombed marvelously and sold only two copies and she’d still be selling out this tour. She’s at that point now.

Seeing the news about Maren Morris teasing another Zedd collab sure makes me wish Carrie would get together with one of those dance-pop guys… Zedd/Calvin Harris/Steve Aoki/Tiesto/David Guetta/Kygo….. something that could potentially hit huge. Would never want her to go full blown pop but if Maren Morris can do it, why can’t Carrie? I don’t know if she’s had opportunity and turned it down or its just never been a possibility, but i would love to see what a huge dance/pop song with Carrie would be like.

There is "Tears of Gold" with David Bisbal which is in that realm but yeah a song with one of the popular guys like Zedd would be cool.

I would love to see this too. But I am leaning towards the guess that Carrie had turned down many pop collabs over the years. Considering what a big name she has consistently been especially during the early eras (crossover wise), hard to believe there hasn't been any good pop collab opportunities. She was probably not ready and not keen to dip her toes in the pop world for a long time. Much like her stance on no remix.

Now it just needs to peak in the top 10 on BB and I will be satisfied enough to say let’s move on. This song has been out since March, it’s getting to be time for something new.
