I listened to it like 7/8 times , gave it a break and started to listen again. I even sounded better the second time around.

If you’re looking for glory notes, this isn’t the song. She definitely uses range for this one, but far more subtly than we’re used to.

Love this so much after a couple of listens, it reminds me so much of Something In The Water for some reason.
I'm going through really tough heartbreak right now, so this song is hitting really hard, especially the bridge. Can't wait to blast this at night in my car, singing this at the top of my lungs.

I really like this. It’s nothing “new” but she sounds great. And her voice on the final verse—-love it.

This doesn’t reinvent the wheel or anything, but I think it’s a stunner tbh. Her vocal gives the lyric a lot of color.

Her Apple Music interview with Kelleigh Bannen is great. She said this is her most fun album. In her words, it’s a “sing-in-your-hairbrush” type of album.

She also co-produced the album with David Garcia again.

That photoshoot is so Carrie and i bet the album cover will something like that. Living Glamorous Barbie, i’m glad she’s embracing who she is instead of trying to fit in the country community.

Listening now and the chorus is a total earworm, but the production with the driving drums is a little too chipper for the lyrics IMO, definitely sounds like SITW to me as well. Song feels like the successor to "You Won't Find This," which is one of my favorites off CR.

I should be sleeping, but i can’t. Just laying here thinking about ghost story and the new album. Really curious why GS was picked as the lead. If this is indeed her most fun album, i sure hope there are some rockin carrie songs on it. I hope the sound of ghost story isn’t indicative of what lies ahead for the sound of the rest of the album.
I wonder if she will have an in person FCP this year? And what all we may learn about the album by then? (release date, tracklist, etc) ….i doubt it will be out by june. August maybe?

She is going to mash this up with SITW at some point. Mark my words.

GS has the thumping percussion of “Blown Away”, with SITW instrumentation. After repeated listens, I could totally see this smashing but it’s up to radio to embrace it or not. I’m sure listeners will love it, so hopefully radio gives this a solid shot!

I have to say, this song is SUCH an ear worm. The chorus is so memorable and she sounds incredible vocally on this song, even if she doesn't technically hit any "money notes".

Ok, so first listen, it was very underwhelming, but as I listened to it more, I liked it more. The chorus is very catchy, been in my head all morning. I just hope the rest of the album is better. In my opinion, she needs to move away from producing with David Garcia and go back to her roots with someone like Dann Huff, or even Greg Wells. I’m not a huge fan of the direction that David Garcia has taken with Carrie’s music.

I’m not a huge fan of the direction that David Garcia has taken with Carrie’s music. I am just hoping there are some big vocals on the album. I did feel like there were multiple places in this single where some money notes could've been hit, though as I said, she still sounds amazing (even with no "money notes" her big voice is impressive). I'm ok with them not being in every song, but for me that is a big reason why I love Carrie... not many artists have the ability to really wail like she's able to, and I'm craving it!

Dare to say it, this is her best single since SITW.
It's everything I wanted. The chorus, especially "I'll be haunting you / you'll be wanting me", and the bridge is fantastic. This is the signature Carrie sound I've been missing.

I have no need for a new song by Carrie to be different from her usual sound or to reivent the wheel. I just need to love it, and I love "Ghost Story!"

She’s sounds lovely. I love the runs she does with the word “story” throughout.

I love it!! I’m actually getting major Carnival Ride/Play On/late 2000s vibes lol which is my favorite Carrie era so definitely don’t mind it one bit. Idk why but I kinda hear like a mixture of Crazy Dreams and You Won’t Find This (musically) for some reason. I really like it though and can’t wait to hear what’s next!!!

Still have to warm up to the verses, but overall this one is growing on me. The chorus is great, the last 30 seconds of the song almost make me tear up.

I’ve had this on repeat all day. It’s just an easy, refreshing listen. It has so many classic Carrie Underwood elements that make it accessible to her fans and casual listeners. I think this will be a hit at Country radio. I’ve posted here many times that “Cry Pretty” is my favorite Carrie Underwood song of all-time, but I knew the moment I heard that song it was going to stall out at radio. The vocal was too abrasive, the lyrics were too smart, the production was too Aerosmith…it had so much going against it. This is a melodic earworm with a classic breakup theme and some strong central imagery. I don’t see how it doesn’t work at radio.
Of course, I want more experimentation on the album but this makes complete sense as a lead single to me.
