This has a noticeably large bullet this week. Is this the max spins week?

It's interesting because it looks like "GS" could fall short of the top 5 this week (looks like it will be close with Ingrid Andress), so this waiting around for weeks to sneak into the top 5 may not even pan out.

I mean Ingrid isn't moving much this week and Carrie Underwood isn't that far behind in spins so it is still plausible keep in mind their are 4 more days of updates left to determine where Carrie Underwood finishes.

I didn't say it was impossible or wouldn't happen, I was saying it looks to be close. I hope it does hit top 5 so I can see all of this press you all were saying will result.

Can't wait for this song to peak and go away just so that posters will stop coming into the thread every 5 minutes to give updates about how its not doing enough for them.

Regardless of how the song is doing, it has grown a lot on me over the months. Not my favorite on the album but I still enjoy it.

FYI, Hate My Heart is added to Apple Music's Today's Country playlist. It's just missing an announcement at this point.

Hate My Heart is an excellent choice. It's been my favorite since the release.

I think "Hate My Heart" is a perfect second single choice. Although I prefer Burn and Velvet Heartbreak, I think one of those would be better following something extremely radio friendly like HMH, I just can't imagine it not doing well.

Top 5 Mediabase.
I’m alright with that peak, but this song still deserved better. When a single by a female vocalist has poor callout results, it’s doomed at radio. In this instance, programmers were handed a single with strong callout, across all demographics, and it could only manage a Top 5 finish. It’s just ridiculous how all the stars have to align for a woman to get a #1. I bet if radio rallied more around GS it would have connected better in all other metrics.

I could be totally wrong, but I feel like usually songs, "connect," (become big streamers, etc) before they're even in the top 20 or top 10 on radio. I agree with you that this song probably deserved better (even though it was very blah to me) but I don't think radio had much (if any) impact on it not becoming a bigger hit.

Eh, Top 5 is pretty good all things considered as this has been a pretty weak link in the Top 10 for a while and all the songs above it right now on Mediabase are absolute monster sized hits (Cole, Luke, Morgan, and Tyler Hubbard) and "Ghost Story" is just so surface level in terms of impact (it has spent a good chunk of time in the 16-20 range on the Hot Country Songs chart sans the album release week which for a song in the Top 10 that's not bad but not anything great) and the timing of this one peaking was really bad with all these absolutely big hits passing it.
Hopefully whatever they do release next to radio does connect more with people (I assume it is gonna be "Hate My Heart") as it really feels like Carrie Underwood is in a bit of a rut in terms of her newer solo material connecting with people as none of the Cry Pretty singles sans maybe "Southbound" connected with people all that much and while "Ghost Story" did fine, I doubt many people outside of the Carrie Underwood stans will remember it.
Does Carrie Underwood need country radio? Quite frankly no. But selfishly I do want her to have one more solo big hit that connects with people.

I do agree this is a weak link in the top 10 and unfortunately got stuck in the top 10 with some of the biggest songs of the year, but how unfortunate that we’ve seen male songs with less impact still go #1 (7500 OBO, Best thing since backroads, with a woman you love, at the end of the bar)
Hope hate my heart can leave more of an impact, I know it was much more immediate and accessible to me than ghost story.

Yeah the fact that it has been so much lower on overall Country Songs than it has been on Country Airplay shows the disconnect; even if people liked hearing it on radio, they weren't making a point to buy it or stream it. Hopefully they move onto the next single quickly. Anyway, when will the press for this top 5 peak start (or has it already)?

It is unfortunate as those male songs got a lot luckier in terms of timing for when they would peak. I do wonder if the label would have released "Ghost Story" a bit earlier (like a month or so) to radio if it would have had a better peak at radio and better timing as I imagine 29 weeks on Billboard was about the amount of time UMG was gonna promote this song. I do think gut instinct that Top 5/3 was probably gonna be this song's ceiling no matter when it was released as this isn't a very immediate or radio friendly song for multiple listens, it just also had probably the worst timing for peaking imaginable.

Right now Ghost Story is the highest peaking song from a female solo artist of 2022. Mind you there have been some duets, but still.

At this point I’m shocked those duets went #1. Seems two females would be much more unlikely than one. And it happened twice!

Final peak of #6 on Billboard this week, Carrie's second highest peak since the Storyteller ended

As much as I would've liked to see this go higher, it still managed to become the highest-peaking solo female song on both Mediabase and Billboard charts this year (I assume "Pick Me Up" will take that title by the end of the year) and it's looking to become Carrie's first solo song to spend 20 weeks on the Hot 100 since 2014.

#6 really is not a bad peak for this.

Outside of the country charts, this has had a roller coaster run on the Hot 100. It jumped 10 spots to #68 this week, and currently has a peak of #61 with 19 weeks logged on the chart. It’ll probably drop a considerable amount of slots next week and will then be forced off by recurrent rules.

I’ll take a #6 peak. Better than I expected tbh. Just amazed how this fell like a rock down the charts once it peaked on Monday.
