It's been 2 hours and no thread.
Guess I'll do it myself.

Jack Harlowβs new song is already at #2 on AM.
Also wasnβt aware until now that Lil Baby released 2 new singles. I expect one or both of them to take off in some capacity, at least on AM where he tends to dominate.

Harryβs always done better on Spotify than AM. IIRC As it Was is the first song of his to reach #1 on AM at all? So idk if this says anything about Jackβs new song yet.

The Lil Baby tracks will probably be #2 and #3 on AM in a couple more hours. It would be both funny and unfortunate if one of these tracks gives him yet another #2 on the charts as if he canβt already catch a break with getting a #1 for once. Jack might have his first solo top 10 if First Class debuts well on Spotify and keeps up during the week.

Obviously a single by a rapper will have more advantage at Apple Music, but Harry is still pulling healthy numbers and the fact Jack dethroned him in barely 8 hours means the numbers will be pretty nice.
He is likely debuting top 10.

We could get 3 Top 10 debuts for the first time since CLB week. Hopefully, this will push at least one of Levitating or Save Your Tears to recurrency.

I didn't expect Big Energy to jump into the top 2 on radio, at this point, it's gonna overtake Heat Waves at the top.

I will never understand why the radio loves big energy so much

I will never understand why the radio loves big energy so much Because the radio loves Say So and Doja's sound and this is just a Doja song minus Doja (and also minus it being good)

I will never understand why the radio loves big energy so much Because it's so fun and summer is just around the corner! Song immediately makes me think of a spiked lemonade.

The sample is doing the work for big energy because let's say fantasy(which is a good song btw) wasn't sampled would it honestly be a hit rn? Latto isn't Doja (who can actually sing) and she's not saying anything lyrically.

Yes, the sample is what makes this song accessible to pop radio. Without that sample, it wouldn't be a radio hit.

I love Big Energy, it was my most played song last month. I just really like the vibe, and Latto has a nice voice.
I definitely get all the Doja Cat comparisons, but I don't really mind. IMO, Doja's the best breakout star of the past 5 years (aside from maybe lil nas x).

How about we all just be happy that one more female artist is seeing success on the charts?

Another potential hit off Latto's album is Sunshine featuring Lil Wayne & Childish Gambino. She sings the hook and she holds a good-enough tune. I hope that's the next single off the album.

I hope First Class ends up being a big hit for Jack Harlow (which it seems to be shaping up to be), I think Nail Tech is probably my favorite song from him at this point but this is ridiculously smooth and the sample works really well. Plus if it catches on that'll hopefully help Nail Tech rebound as well lol

All the new standalone songs are the best performers so far (Jack Harlow, Lil Baby, and 42 Dugg).
The new albums are flopping. Fivioβs highest album track is #144 and Camila has no album tracks top 200.
Encanto vs. Morgan Wallen is about to happen on the album charts lol.

That's pretty crazy. Dangerous has been a real longevity king there.

Bam Bam is my favorite song of 2022 so far, hopefully the album release can give it a little boost.

I'm hoping the album plus the inevitable SNL performance really helps out Bam Bam this week, especially if she brings out Ed Sheeran on SNL

That's pretty crazy. Dangerous has been a real longevity king there. It sucks that 30 didnβt give 21 the bounce to get that 85th week in the Top 10 to break the tie with Born In the USA. I like Springsteen, but would have liked to seen 21 hold the modern albums Top 10 weeks record all to itself before Dangerous inevitably surpassed both of them in September.

I'm pretty sure that most of the people who would want to own 21 already do. Why would a new debut cause a ten year old record to jump that far in the charts?

Lil Baby's top ten debut is all down to Spotify numbers - the higher of the two (In a Minute) is below 'Virgil' on AM which is not even top 20 on Hot 100.

I post the alltime top 10 weeks a certain way for a reason.
Because Billboard 200 used to also have its own version of recurrency rules, older albums were not able to chart once they went recurrent (in album terms this is the catalog chart) So from 1991 to 2009 Billboard 200 had quirky rules in place
'Thiller' in its inital chart run logged 78 weeks in the top 10 In 2008 and 2009 it logged another 13 weeks on the Comprehensive chart (This is essentially what the Top Album Sales chart is today) This makes it a total of 91 weeks for Thriller
I post both for completeness

I'm pretty sure that most of the people who would want to own 21 already do. Why would a new debut cause a ten year old record to jump that far in the charts? Old albums do get a boost for major artists when new releases come out 21 for instance climbed back up to #26 and is currently at #144 The 84 weeks vs 85 thing won't likely get major writeups if that happens (when would that happen? anniversary release, the release of another album that sparks interest in this one or death) Billboard seems to like to write about the beginning of the charts as the starting point in 1956
