I’m glad to see I’m not the only one bothered by Big Energy. I’m not a fan of samples in general. Especially when we’re already lacking in new fresh melodies on the chart as it is

Is there even any promotion for Lil Baby’s new singles on AM? For me they don’t show up on Best New Songs or Today’s Top Hits. Not even “It’s Lit” or “New Music Daily”. You would think that he would get the spotlight as he’s one of the main flagship artists on the platform, but the only playlist i see him on his the “New In Hip Hop” one for now. I guess that’s why it took a couple more hours to get his songs in the top 5, and Jack Harlow who’s on most of the playlists i mentioned, got to #1 in the shortest time.

I think that what works about First Class is that it is essentially Jack out-draking Drake on a song that can potentially perform much better than whatever single Aubrey's released in the last 3 years. At this point if anyone's denying Jack's potential then they're simply blind to the trends in rap. Wouldn't be surprised if he would challenge for the rap crown with his next era

Yes, they get a boost, but it would take something more drastic to make that gap between #26 and #10 or so. I do not think that a record like that would be something that would earn a write-up either unless it was a slow week in music I suppose.

Globally btw, First Class did 10M streams. I legit did not expect we would get another blockbuster smash ONE WEEK after Harry's comeback but hey, the power of nostalgia for Fergie is big in turns out.

Fun fact btw: First Class got more streams than Easy On Me's first full day of tracking (yes I know EOM was released a few hours early but still, on the records of US Spotify, Jack pushed Adele out of the Top 5 in terms of peaks)

Poor Fergie should've gotten a feature out of this. I was bummed when I recognized that it leaned heavily on the sample the same as Big Energy. Oh well. AIW and FC are reaffirming that if people are excited about new music, they'll find it.

So i was right about April being the true start to 2022. I would say Jack is set for #1 but Harry has radio to his name that will probably still gain even after the rolling effect. Even if Jack doesn’t get the top spot, this is still by far the most interesting thing we’ve ever got on the charts in a hot minute.
