"Revisitable" isn't something to describe most Kendrick albums, at least if you're just a casual fan who won't care about lyrics. DAMN. and the Black Panther album are the most accessible Kendrick projects and yet are among his weakest. Again, let's just celebrate one of the best albums of the year is on tracking to having one of the biggest debuts of the year, "longevity" be damned. I mean, DAMN literally won a Pulitzer, the most prestigious writing award in the world, and the first time ever it went to a non-jazz album. "accessible" and "popular" =/= weak. in fact, it can be an album's greatest strength, which sounds like where thegreatdivine disagrees with some of the discussion. Kendrick was able to cover heavy subjects while still racking in incredible streaming numbers with his past work, so the rapid decline of his latest project is a surprise, and might speak to how his audience feels about the project. while I agree that not all great albums have to have a certain "replay value," I don't think an album can be a 100-rated masterpiece if it opens with 100M streams on Friday and falls below 10M by Thursday. that's a very harsh decline for an album that is supposed to be introspective, thought-provoking and moving. 1. I never said DAMN. was bad, just that it was weakest AMONGST Kendrick discography. The bar is set so high for Kendrick that I could say it is amongst his weakest album while still saying it is a great album, still one of my favorite of 2017. And I think I should've clarified that being accessible and popular isn't always bad: I do really like the fact Kendrick is able to make a lot of catchy, melodic rap music while still being able to write mature, complex music. It just personal preference that I like the more mainstream oriented albums like To Pimp a Butterfly and Untitled Unmastered the most. 2. I don't really think the declining numbers are a sign that people think the album is "bad" or that it isn't "thought-provoking and moving". I said this earlier; not all audiences who supposedly like Kendrick will listen to him the same way. There's the fans who will relisten to this album over and over again, really dissecting the lyrics and coming to their own interpretations, while there others who, while recognizing Kendrick as one of the best rappers of all time, will mostly come for any good melodies and beats (anecdotately: my older brother falls into former camp and my sister falls into the latter). I'm not saying one audience is better than the other, it's just different preferences and let's be honest: most of the general listening public falls into the latter rather than the former, and I think that's the big reason why it's not resonating with people more. You used the example of Jessie Ware earlier: Jessie's last album was easily more friendly, fun, and accessible than this album so it's not that big of a surprise it got more attention thanks to the critical acclaim. Like if you were just a casual music listener and just on your commute or in public, it does make sense that the more lighthearted, upbeat, and fun Bad Bunny album is being streamed more than the darker, complex Kendrick album that dives into uncomfortable subject matter and isn't very heavy on big hooks and melodies. Ftr: Mr. Morale is like the best rap album of the year so far and yeah, the lack of "replay value" in terms of hooks doesn't bother me too much. It's still so creative and uncompromisingly raw and uncomfortable, it's hard not to love it.

Imo, I think DAMN was his most mainstream after GKMC. Even with that it was still fire lol. I love his versatility and storytelling.

I can see N95, Die Hard, Silent Hill + maybe Father Time and Rich Spirit having decent longevity from this Kendrick album. They are the most accessible songs from the album. I'm really rooting for Father Time, fantastic song.

Hello guys. For project purpose only. Does anyone here have data/source or idea of the total numbers of songs that debuts at number 1 in UK? I cannot find any articles online or forum.

SloMo could be big in the iberoamerican sphere, Spaceman sounds and feels like a UK hit and Hold Me Closer has potential to do great in continental Europe, but whether they smash globally remains to be seen. Stefania will probably do the best at the beginning but doubt it'll have much staying power. Honestly Supermodel is decent and since Maneskin actually have a base it could do well too I wouldn't count Space Man out, especially considering I would've said the same thing about Arcade in 2019. SloMo does sound like a hit, idk get Anitta on a remix. I don't know if Hold Me Closer will do much outside of continental Europe, but I personally think it sounds like a smash. Weirdly enough, the highest Eurovision song on the UK Midweek chart (aside from Ryder) is Give That Wolf a Banana lol also - the new Ethel Cain album is AMAZING. Go listen.

Is Kendrick's album flopping, what am I missing? I'm too busy to keep up with the charts lately No, it isn't "flopping" by any stretch of the imagination. It should debut with > 300k units, enough to be the biggest opening week of the year (so far). It's just that it's streaming performance so far, especially on Apple Music, has been less impressive than most people would have hoped. He'll have a solid debut week but the album might not have much longevity on the charts.

It's crazy how Bad Bunny is pulling similar numbers to Kendrick this early in the week on Spotify. AM is obviously where Kendrick is definitely making up space but it wouldn't be surprising if Kendricks album drops below Bad Bunny next week. People overestimate album bombs WAY out of proportion and set themselves up for disappoinment around here. Kendrick will perform just fine, not every record needs to be broken every week. What's the point of a record if it's broken every other week lol If Bad Bunny continues on this trajectory for the next few years, he'll legitimately become one of the biggest acts in the US, consumption-wise. He's already an arena veteran in the US. I'm surprised by how well his album has held on Apple Music. For context, Bad Bunny's album has 17/23 songs, while Kendrick has 18/18 songs in the top 50 of US Apple Music and Bad Bunny's songs are currently rising while Kendrick's songs are falling. This is something you couldn't imagine happening 3 years ago but we're here now and it's happening. It's really impressive how much he's blown up from 2018-now. It's similar to Post Malone's rise from 2016-2019 but even more impressive to me because Bad Bunny doesn't sing in English but his music has managed to captivate English-speaking audiences regardless.

You Proof at #5 at Apple Music ... I don't think anybody expected that at this point. Even though Donβt Think Jesus is the best of his most three recent songs, You Proof is definitely going to be the most commercially successful since itβs the poppiest. I hope it can debut top 10 even with Kendrick

Going recurrent this week are Hrs and Hrs, WDTAB, Beers On Me, and 23.
Surface Pressure did not survive a 20th week on the 5/21 chart, and Broadway Girls did not get an exception for the 50/20 rule despite possibly gaining in what would have been its 21st week.

Is Khalid Skyline still something that's gonna happen on the hot 100 or has that died off already

Select Hot 100 positions WITHOUT the Bad Bunny album bomb OR Future's leftovers (I kept Harlow's "bomb" b/c it was a small explosion + kept Wait For U)
6. About Dang Time (+13, new peak) 8. Thought You Should Know (Debut) 10. The Heart P5 (Debut) 13. Dua Lipa (Debut) 14. Churchill Downs (Debut)
- Super Recurrent Cutoff -
22. Boyfriend (+12, new peak) 30. Numb Little Bug (+10, new peak) 34. This Love (TS) (Debut)
- Recurrent Cutoff -
41. Nail Tech (+44) 44. She's All I Wanna Be (Holds peak) 50. 2step (+1, new peak) 55. Get Into It Yuh (+17, new peak) 56. Hold My Hand (Debut) 73. Honest (-29)
It can also be assumed a majority of the Bubbling Under would've charted. Summer's basically here, & unless you're a rap fan, the charts are STILL lackluster

Interesting to see if N95 can go #1... I think it might just miss out with AIW and FC increasing on airplay.

Interesting to see if N95 can go #1... I think it might just miss out with AIW and FC increasing on airplay. I think the predictions factor in the potential increase in airplay. Besides, AIW is very near its peak on radio (I mean, how much more can it possibly grow), so its updates could turn negative any day now. N95 has the Hot 100 #1 in the bag. Plus, it wouldnβt be a good sign heading into the summer if the Hot 100 #1 fell below 300 points, especially with all the new music/albums that have been released in recent weeks.
