We might rather ask whether or not Holy/Lonely and Bodak Yellow got into top 50 thanks to streaming and improved in sales and/or radio which would make them eligible to re-chart. Quite a lot of initial singles might have fallen prey to the complete my album curse that would lead to negative sales for lead singles, which would hinder the chart points a song could attain to. Rather than be quick to lash out at Billboard for supposed inconsistency, we ought to appreciate those songs who are able to come back from the undead thanks to checking off the appropriate boxes to do so. Actually Complete-My-Album wouldn't have affected the Hot 100, because while those sales were deducted on the digital songs chart, the sales points were kept on the Hot 100.

It really is an oddity in the pop music landscape that this could end up as one of the top 2 or 3 biggest hits of all time. I don't hate the song, but it is very safe and bland, with nothing at all special or groundbreaking about it. I mean it was pleasant to hear on the radio a few times and tolerable for it to be huge for a little while, but its longevity is quite mind-boggling, and I really hope it descends down and out of the Hot 100 relatively soon as well!!

Stay is one of the most influential songs of all time, regardless of opinion or especially whatever one sided opinion this board has about the song in general.

My Hot 100 thoughts
87. Potion: Flop. Do better Calvin 70. L/HLT Alcohol: One of the better songs from 24KT, the opening's pretty 59. N95: Surprise flop 47. Wrapped Around Your Finger: Best new song from 24KT 15. Late Night Talking: I really hope this becomes a hit 2 & 3. First Class & Wait For U: Neither of these deserve this level of success 1. As It Was: Keep winning Harry!
Songs that deserve better: Grapejuice, When You're Gone, All I Wanna Be, A Thousand Miles, Sweetest Pie, Bam Bam, Numb Little Bug, Daydreaming
Sorry but most of Bad Bunny's songs sound the same, why are they doing so well

Stay is one of the most influential songs of all time, regardless of opinion or especially whatever one sided opinion this board has about the song in general. Could you explain this? Itβs pretty self explanatory tbh. The song has a fanbase of its own and thatβs clearly making it be one of the biggest hits of all time. My Hot 100 thoughts 87. Potion: Flop. Do better Calvin 70. They should put all of their focus on Die Hard instead of pushing the already dead single that is Silent Hill. And also i donβt know how you can say that Bad Bunnyβs songs sound the same when you can clearly differentiate them all, including the ones that are popping off. If you mean to tell me that Moscow Mule sounds the same as Ojitos Lindos, Despues De La Playa, Party or Titi Me Pregunto, then i donβt know what your ears are hearing, and the Wait For U slander too, but of course thatβs your opinion.

Itβs pretty self explanatory tbh. The song has a fanbase of its own and thatβs clearly making it be one of the biggest hits of all time. But being one of the biggest hits of all time doesn't make it groundbreaking or influential. It could just be that it was safe enough to have the widest appeal to the largest number of people for a while, or for whatever reason corporate radio and streaming playlisting decided to stick with it forever.

The Velvet Underground & Nico sold fairly poorly upon release: the band (along with their benefactor, Andy Warhol) were disappointed, and would later move into a more pop direction after their follow-up also failed to light the world on fire. It is also one of the most influential albums of all time - to quote Brian Eno, "The first Velvet Underground album only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band". The year it was released, the best selling song was "To Serve With Love" by Lulu, a song I have never heard of.
Commercial success does not equal influence.

Being the first #1 song with an EDM drop was a huge deal. Yes that existed at the time, but PRA made in mainstream

That's not being influential, that's just describing what it is. I was asking what long lasting influence it had towards future music

Just watching the countdown video, they all have the exact same Latin beat 15 songs of the album give or take are the same upbeat Reggaeton but there is a lot of great diversity of sound - try listening to Ojitos Lindos, itβs a great song and very much doesnβt sound like the stereotypical βBad Bunnyβ song that you think of through popular stereotypes

Bad Bunny made a mistake in pushing Moscow Mule as the single. He should have went with Me Porto Bonito or Titi Me Pregunto instead.

Just because you go to number one does not mean you are at the forefront of a music revolution. No one says Desiigner is someone who influenced trap music in the 2010s despite the fact Panda was one of the first trap rap songs to go to number one or that ZAYN is important because PILLOWTALK was the first desaturated moody pop songs to go #1. Music that's influential is rarely reflected by chart success - be it music, movies, or TV - and there's 30 other electronic acts who've been more important to shaping music of the 2010s than LMFAO

Yeah I havenβt seen anyone even mention LMFAO in literal years, let alone cite LMFAO for being influential on anything. Being a big hit =/= being influential. Theyβre two completely separate entities.

Stay is not influential, it may be huge but that doesn't mean it's influential. If you a want good example of a big hit that was influential, look at Despacito. While Latin music was already popular before but it became even more popular when Despacito became a hit, it opened the door for other Latin hits to crossover to the US. The video also helped Puerto Rico's economy by giving it another tourist attraction. This is a good example of an influential hit, Stay has done none of this or anything close to this.
