Is there a universe where this actually is the YE #1? It would be a good representation of the year - mid Said it the other week: we're are now halfway through the chart year and there are barely less than 10 good hit songs that weren't on last year's YE, even then more than half were released last year, and the best hit song of the year so far was released THIRTY SEVEN YEARS AGO |

This is blatant self-promotion but I made a couple digital drag videos to 2 Kate Bush songs last year, if anyone wants to get a bit more exposure to her music with some visuals behind it. I'm particularly proud of the Under Ice one:

2022 is definitely a step back from 2020 and 2021 but it's not terrible, there are some songs that I have as either great or classic on the YE.

Now that it's finally charted, I think it needs to be said: OneRepublic made a better Top Gun song than Lady Gaga I've been listening to it non stop and have been waiting for it to Chart. OneRepublic is due for a hit again and it'd be nice if this was it. |

Will kate bush sell more this week? Likely down from peak days, but should be busy for the whole tracking week rather than part of it.
It's still just 1 sales #1 this year that pushed even a 25k week...

Kate Bush repeaked on AM, had a soft Sunday US Spotify dip, and is dark green on iTunes - the momentum is not slowing....
With a bunch more radio #1 is absolutely possible after next week's Hot 100 if it keeps this up. But they need to fix the YouTube video claims because its video streams bombed this week and is losing like 10-15 points from it

Iβll be okay with anything but As It Was at #1. There are so many great alternatives like First Class, wait For U, About Damn Time, and Running Up That Hill. Anyone one of those songs would be better than AIW.

The Duffer Brothers confirmed they are gonna be using "Running Up That Hill" again in the Strangers Thing finale next month, which means it'll probably get another streaming boost.

If you look thru the years, pop culture has always somewhat correlated to politics and the economy. It doesn't make sense on a surface level, but maybe inflation's part of the reason music's in such a rut? |

Are you saying that phistradamus strikes again? I donβt get the appeal of As It Was. At least Stay was fine in the beginning before the radio overplay made it unbearable. AIW is just plain boring. |

Your quote of me is a non-sequitor. The fact that you don't get the appeal of a song has nothing to do with its position on the charts, if it happens to be appealing to millions of other people in some fashion.

Why donβt we just agree that both songs are great and 2 of the best songs this decade so far? Just like both, or not but thatβs your opinion. These songs broke records and have insane longevity because they appeal to an audience that clearly likes these songs a lot.

They will probably get their #1 the week or release, but further than that, not very likely. Specially if RUTH has several million AI and is pulling 2 or even 3 + million daioy streams, which is very likely if the song will be featured on the season finale. |
