The whole Kelis thing is pure confusion. Which song interpolated or sampled Kelis? I've seen three different songs mentioned.

The whole Kelis thing is pure confusion. Which song interpolated or sampled Kelis? I've seen three different songs mentioned. It's Milkshake, there was initial rumour of it being Get Along With You which was made up. In Energy, the beat from 0:50 until the end of the track is basically a slightly deconstructed version of the Milkshake beat. I always thought it was super obvious, but I guess most people remember Milkshake for the lyrics and not the beat...

The sample/interpolation has definitely been removed. It was the background vocals during the transition into the Big freedia sample the “la la la la” it’s the la la’s from Milkshake sped up. This is already her most polarizing release imo and it hasn’t even been out a week lol I’m about to go order a physical copy I want to hear the art as intended an edit is fine but the removing and re-recording gets annoying. oh. nevermind. looks like true.

Considering the juvenile lyrics on this album, I guess we can believe Beyonce wrote some of it.
The Diane Warren slander is ridiculous.
Yonce brings this on herself since she’s gone around in interviews claiming she’s written multiple number ones in a row. Matthew is the one who taught her to make the public believe she’s a Jack of all trades. It’s all smoke and mirrors with her.
Some of the BeyHive act like terrorists and that bullying needs to stop!!!

I wasn’t going to write anything because I love that Beyoncé can manage to do so well still this late in her career as a female R&B singer. However, it’s quite insulting that she gets praise for breathing at this point. Listening to this album, I just heard noise. And on top of that, the endless amount of people involve, it is far from creative or illustrate her as an artist. I don’t see her as an artist. She’s a great performer and a good singer. If this album came from anyone else, it wouldn’t get an ounce of praise as it has been receiving. There has been such a change in how critics look at these reviews that I’m not shocked. She’s also a great business woman because the way she has manipulated gays with this album. So many are so far up her ass that you can’t see what is being done. She’s doing what on trend right now and because of her hype, she can get away with it. Think about it! There isn’t a thing that she won’t try and use for money. First, Black Lives Matter and now the LGBTQ movement.

This is reminding me so much of the B'Day launch, there were so many mini "scandals." And you know what? Nobody remembers them, lol. The same way they won't remember these a month from now.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present my darling mother's hot take on the new Beyonce album (she has heard clips on TV, mind you.) That techno funkno. It's for people at the club. You hear her voice, but it's not her voice. It's mixed with the synthesizers. It's technisized. All I heard was that funny sound. Her voice thrown intermittently with that. There's no chorus. But the kids are doing it now so she's doing it.She ain't lied!

Beyoncé did the right thing by removing the Kelis sample. It wasn't even worth it and Kelis just used her name and album release hype to ignite he feud with Pharrell.
Bey was like "I'mma let you do you sis. I'm out!"

This, along with Bad Bunny's "Un Verano Sin Ti", are two of the best albums I have heard in YEARS. I finally let myself listen to this on shuffle -- I felt like the transitions worked so perfectly as they were, that shuffling them almost felt blasphemous. Well, joke's on me, because it still SLAPPED.
Absolutely impressive body of work. I thought "Beyonce" and "Lemonade" would be hard to top but....she may have actually done just that.

Beyoncé is not intelligent, but that's OK! Not everyone can be a scholar. She was essentially a child star. I don't even think she finished high school. Old news. Most pop stars are the same, in that regard.

In defense of Miss Knowles, the whole sp*z thing is ridiculous. I have never ever heard that that word was derogatory towards the disabled community. This generation just irritates me! You can be unaware of things yet it doesn’t change the gravity of something. Disabled people have been called that word for decades - oh ‘stop being a ****’, ‘Stop ******** out’, when the disabled person is having a legit breakdown (edit: or something of the sort, I shouldn’t make it sound like it’s to do with mental illness solely, could be a physical one as well). It’s insensitive, cruel, and highly dismissive. I didn’t realize the severity of it either until Lizzo. Now I see. Pays to be educated, empathetic and respectful. This will continue as we learn and grow to be a more empathetic society.

In addition to this, words have different meanings and connotations in different places. Growing up in the UK, this word is a definite no for me. It was absolutely used as a very derogatory term against people with physical disabilities in the 80s/90s (probably before, probably after). Were Lizzo and Beyoncé expected to know about the word's use outside of the US when making these songs? No. But I respect that they listened to those fans who do associate the word with negative connotations and made a change. (Although I do find Lizzo's situation more genuine; Beyoncé had time to get ahead of it, even if the vinyls had been pressed. Always the marketing machine...)
