Yikes @ that setlist. If I were there I might ask for a refund. :kii: well, good thing it wasn't a ticketed experience. it was invite-only for the oil rich, socialites, and some actual celebrities. she collected her $24M cheque, gave them some old ass songs in an hour-long set, and left. I'm somewhat glad it went down this way... I don't even want to imagine the think pieces people would come up with had she performed Renaissance for the first time at a private event in Dubai. highlights of the performance for me: - first ever live performances of several Lion King: The Gift songs - first time performing Brown Skin Girl, and with Blue Ivy on stage with her - first time performing Beautiful Liar in 15 years (thank you to the Middle Eastern breakdown in the song 🙏🏽) - new intro and arrangement to Countdown, new outro to Drunk in Love -- first time she used it as the encore I think she went with a setlist like this because of her foot surgery AND to create more of a classy, cinematic, epic feel for the occasion. many of us fans would have preferred a different setlist, even without Renaissance songs, but this really wasn't an event for the fans, as terrible as that feels. we weren't even supposed to see these iPhone camera clips, in theory. |

We don't know the stipulations of her contract with the hotel, and the setlist may have not even been her idea but at the same time I think it was a well tailored setlist for that audience.
Dubai is extremely westernized and it the "richest" city in the world but the country (UAE) still has certain protocol and rules that everyone is supposed to abide by.
