"Bang Bang" and "Side to Side" being her 3rd and 4th biggest hits, yet rarely being brought up feels funny to me. Isn't that likely because she isn't really the most notable part of either song? It's not like either song is truly identified with her, so of course people wouldn't bring them up the way they would a song that has her on lead. I’m crying. “I give zero f**ks and I got zero chill in me” is the most iconic part of the song and sang the loudest in the crowd every time Ari performs it. Her verse in Bang Bang is also what elevates the song and brings it home.

Did billboard really fix the bundling issue? I think they need to go back to the drawing board.. Yes they did. Drop a tear.

Yeah, there’s nothing really to fix about this scenario as even with the Hail Mary of 4 more versions on Thursday, there were still about 50-60,000 customers combined across those 89,000 sales, a fair quantity. If anything, blame the market that nothing crushing on radio is likewise crushing the other metrics and thus could’ve stopped a viral song with a sales push.
For as much as I hated to see Girls Like You stomp a bunch of hype launches to #2, it had significant sales and streams at its peak that did indicate its health as a multimetric hit that As It Was has wavered on (especially in regards to sales).

I think I can safely make the argument that this is Nicki’s first *true* #1. It should have the industry-driven longevity that the Say So remix and TROLLZ lacked. That said, I’m not particularly happy that the producer she chose to work with again has another #1, even if it’s not all that surprising. wish it was anaconda still 😭

Yes they did. Drop a tear. What does this even mean… please be reminded that this is not ATRL. It means "cry about it." As in, Nicki did this without bundles, quit suggesting otherwise.

Everyone loves As It Was a bit too much that it's killing Harry Styles other singles since radio can't figure out which one to spin, Late Night Talking is getting stuck at #3-4 on Pop radio because radio refuses to let it get a head of As It Was lol

Did billboard really fix the bundling issue? I think they need to go back to the drawing board.. You cant be serious with this question. There’s no bundling or mass buying possible anymore. Didn’t you see BTS could only afford 42k with their comeback single and 66K with their recent collab. They’d usually do well over 150-200k… Nicki Minaj has always been able to sell, even before webstore singles were introduced she was still selling well over 20-30k pure per release. Imagine that with 4 versions to buy. That’s easily 20k times 4. BOOM 80k sales. It was reported that no mass purchases or fraudulent sales were detected. The limited edition a capella version and the Roman remix did the trick. That’s all it was.

I hope Stay can keep those records. I highly doubt it at this point tho.

Is anyone really surprised that “As It Was” isn’t going anywhere. I’ve known since its release that this would be a song that radio would play for a months on end in similar fashion to “Blinding Lights,” “Stay” and “Levitating.” Anyone who didn’t predict this needs to read the room better. There’s no point in complaining about it now.

That's still a problem (multiple version buying) Billbiard weds to fix, and causes a non accurate portrayal of popularity in the Hot 100.

Y’all can’t twist this 50 different ways lol. That song was mass purchased to no.1 similar to trollz and every BTS song.

I hate it when people are like "The radio is holding onto ------- for way too long. Nobody cares about it anymore." when the song is still huge on streaming. It happened to Heat Waves and now it's happening to this.

So clearly people enjoy these songs and it’s not just radio overplaying them.

SFG is literally #1 on streaming too My comment was not about any particular song. It also has nothing to do with any song charting position. It's been a problem for some time.

Since we’re on the topic of As It Was, I think at this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if it topped the streaming on the YE, it’s been consistent with no signs of slowing down.

While there are a few different nuances, multiple versions was definitely a huge factor in BTS Hot 100 chart success. As the practice has for a number of other songs, as long as it’s permissible and accepted by Billboard , we can’t blame the artists. I think actually most artists should release numerous versions of their singles . I don’t see the harm as long as it’s allowed by the rules

Mass buying obviously played a role to a degree but that's true of any #1 debut from an artist with a rabid fan base. She dropped multiple editions, sure, but most anyone would have done the same if #1 was within reach. Can't fault her for playing the game, and at least this song is genuinely connecting with the general public unlike most of her previous close calls.
I don't love the song but she was long overdue for a solo #1.

I am not surprised that As It Was is having great longevity. Radio does not always cause a song to have longevity. Streaming can help songs with less radio support late into their charts runs, especially if there is not enough competition. I am mainly talking about when Good 4 U and Industry Baby had longevity well into 2022. I know that Spotify is just one streaming service and those two songs have always been overshadowed by Heat Waves and Stay on the topic of songs with great longevity this year but my point is that streaming can help songs to have longer chart runs, not just radio.

And it not take away or say anything about any particular artist using it to their advantage?

Nicki Minaj’s song is also number one on streaming songs. It is not a BTS situation. Airplay just has way too much weight. They are acting as if it is the 90s with people waiting on the airwaves to play a song. It is so outrageous

I don't love the song but she was long overdue for a solo #1. solo-ish. it's basically a mashup collab with criminal rick james.
