Rod Wave’s Beautiful Mind (Alamo) debuts at #1 this week as Megan Thee Stallion’s Traumazine (Atlantic) opens Top 5.
In addition to the top slot, Sony will have the Top 3 albums on the chart this week—including Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti (Rimas) at #2 and Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE (Parkwood/Columbia) at #3—and five of the Top 10 with Harry Styles’ Harry’s House (Columbia) and Future’s I NEVER LIKED YOU (Freebandz/Epic) at #7 and #8, respectively.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re late for happy hour.

That's actually OK for Megan. If she somehow gets a hit this is an OK result as she moves out of that label.

I'm surprised Lizzo is so low already given how much press she's been getting and how big of a hit she has.

^Not only that, but the album itself has among the lowest SEAs for an album in HITS' top 50. Probably not surprising, given that it fell to #44 in the US weekly Spotify chart.

Morgan Wallen almost being #2 with an album from Q1 2021. His streak is unprecedented for a country or any artist, for better or worse. Nice to see Megan perform a little better than expected, though I still haven't listened to the album yet. Also not a terrible 3rd week hold for Beyonce!

I'm surprised Lizzo is so low already given how much press she's been getting and how big of a hit she has. I'm the opposite. I'm happy it's hanging on as well as it is. "About Damn Time" doesn't have large enough streaming numbers to keep the album very high and the album's overall streaming has dropped quite a bit. Hopefully the album will start climbing with the second single being pushed now. Nice to see Megan trending up throughout the week. A solid debut for her and hopefully she'll have a number of successful singles on Urban/Rhythmic radio to help keep the album afloat for a while.

Not what anyone expected for Adele back during release.
Lizzo's album will live or die by the hits. The album itself isn't moving many copies. The 2nd single is off to an OK start.

Not what anyone expected for Adele back during release. I said RED (TAYLOR'S VERSION) would be tough competition for Adele and some people acted like I was insane... they opened with similar enough numbers, and now RED is surely surpassing it soon on the Year-End considering it's currently 80 spots higher on the Billboard 200 (No. 58 vs No. 138). 2022 YTD:18 ADELE | 30 COLUMBIA (SME) 630,000 19 TAYLOR SWIFT | RED (TAYLOR'S VERSION) REPUBLIC (UMG) 614,000

The bulk of Adele's activity happened in 2021- and with mediocre fanfare for the second single and nothing thereafter, her name alone can only do so much to keep the album afloat. Plus, all of the 30 vinyls were instantly available upon the album's release, so nothing later on to boost the album back up the charts.

Even considering 2021 though, the lifetime numbers of Adele’s album are pretty disappointing imo.
The album total SPS has still not surpassed 25’s first week. The album is already out the top 100, so it’ll take years to even match the first week at this point.
Historically, any album that couldn’t pass the prior album’s opening week with its total sales would be seen as a hardcore decline.

I mean Adele stopped at single 2 (which was never promoted except for a video). So, assuming there is a third single (and maybe a fourth) there's a possibility it can stay back afloat in the Top 50 for half a year or so. Of course, this is all hypothetical.

kimberly- Taylor Swift is an anomaly, so why compare? I don't think Adele has a hardcore fanbase akin to the Swifites. :)
iHype- it's definitely a notable decline, though with circumstances, for sure. Especially given how album sales have come down since the release of 25. And, let's face it- that's where her biggest strength was.

Adele is just as much of a sales anomaly as Taylor Swift imo.
I don't think people have to use the "she stopped at two singles card" when that's her and her team's fault. If she had promoted more, sure, it still wouldn't have matched 25 but it wouldn't be out of the top 10 YTD chart already and trending downward.
There's an I Drink Wine video on the vault, but other than that there's not a lot of promo lined up aside from the residency.

kimberly- Taylor Swift is an anomaly, so why compare? I don't think Adele has a hardcore fanbase akin to the Swifites. my initial comment is based on a personal anecdote of how people called it b.s. when I said "Taylor didn't necessarily have to move her album release, she would have challenged for #1 against 30" 30's whole run so far is one of the greatest underperformances in recent memory, regardless of that comparison. I'm really curious to see how her next album will perform — if there even is a next album, that is. Her heart doesn't seem to be in it anymore and she's not managed to outsell 25's first week in 9 months, so why bother?

One of the funniest karma moments I've seen on Pulse is people writing in blood that there was no way it was opening under 1 million. I recall reading quite a few heated answers when someone suggested 800k range was more in line with the terrible shape of sales.
Adele ain't alone on the underperformance train either. From that list I'd say Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Post Malone and even Kendrick Lamar could use a boost for their next release.
