"Impact" can be argued but I don't know how anyone can dispute Drake not being deserving of the #2 position on Billboard's Artist of the Year ranking (Taylor Swift will likely end the year at #2 anyways). He's been charting 7 albums on the Billboard 200 throughout the year (only Taylor Swift has tied him with achieving that).
In addition to that, so far this year, he has scored 5 top 10 hits (tied with Future for the most so far this year) with two of them peaking at #1 (the most of any artist this year). Lastly, he has spent 25 weeks in the top 10 so far this year. Only Justin Bieber (33 weeks), Glass Animals (29 weeks) and Harry Styles (28 weeks) have spent more weeks in the top 10 so far this year.
He's had a somewhat quiet year in comparison to Harry Styles and Bad Bunny (who had bigger albums and are currently touring said albums), but that doesn't mean he hasn't been dominant as well. Y'all just chose to not notice.

Seems like AIW gonna be in the top 10 of all time 🥳 At that point how much of the all-time top 20 or so would be from the past decade?

Its run is really interesting and unique, if it does get to 1, it'll have a record breaking 5th week at 1, will break the record for longest gap between 1st and latest week at 1 and will tie The Box for most weeks at 1 this decade (very likely could pass it too), really cool run. Yes it had a great run and what's more fun to imagine is if all those weeks in between were also dominated by AIW. This would be week 21 at #1 and some pulse members would have gone into serious depressions and the rants would be endless !!

For this week's Top 10. Kudos to Steve Lacy and his team for breaking into the USA Top 3 music atmosphere. IMO, I think Steve could be the breakout star for 2022.

15M streams needed for number one from a song that peaked in April... in late summer when charts are usually the strongest. The least competitive summer I've ever seen. Not to mention January-March which was the least competitive start to a year I had ever seen. 2022 needs a very low multiplier on the GOAT list

I’m glad that AIW has proved it’s success enough so for the conversations about whether it was deserving or not have stopped completely, and I thought they were going to restart this week. Also, wow did the predictors overestimate SFG’s sales numbers. I get that the ITunes popularity bar was broken for the whole week, but still.
Edit-well i spoke too soon, we’ve been taking the last month of AIW not being at number one for granted folks.

Seems like AIW gonna be in the top 10 of all time 🥳 At that point how much of the all-time top 20 or so would be from the past decade? Assuming AIW makes it (which it most likely will), the top 25 will have 6 songs from the last three years or so (and 3-4 of those in the top 10 depending on Heat Waves). That doesn't count Uptown Funk, SOY, and Closer. It's safe to say that the multiplier will come down, at least for weeks after Blinding Lights.

It feels so wrong that AIW gets a week at #1 for this with like 15M streams, especially when songs like G4u, Stay, Industry Baby, and Way 2 Sexy missed out on weeks at #1 with over 30M (and sometimes even 40M) streams at this time last year. If radio counted for only 20-25% of the points (and streaming the rest), AIW likely finishes with 5-7 weeks at #1, RUTH would have been a multi-week #1, and Bad Habit likely would be #1 right now.

It was only a matter of time before we got the usual hot takes. It's a song they don't like so now they gotta talk about how the formula is flawed, funny how other than last week, no number 1 this month has topped streaming and there were no complaints and now AIW is back on top, people want to complain.

Any logic can justify a desired end, but an undesired end must be due to a flawed process.

Where were you when About Damn Time topped the Hot 100 for 2 weeks with less than 15 million streams each week? By your logic that song shouldn’t have had it’s 2 weeks at number one.

I asked him that question at the time it was #1 in radio, #10 in streaming and top 10 sales. Answer: So I guess, radio is OK as long as it is #1

^By that logic, if As It Was manages to return to #1 at Radio Songs and remain #1 in next week's Hot 100, it should be OK, no?
