Oh wow, Lainey is really tryna break lol. If this and her lead single does well, not only would it bode well for her Debut week, but would give her 2 solo and 2 duet hits already. I winder what a live show of hers is like.

If she can keep getting features I'd be happy with that, especially if she can score her own hits at the same time unlike say Lauren Alaina.

Impact next Monday according to AllAccess. Surprised Lainey Wilson is not credited there. Also AllAccess has leaked the music video.

Hmm I don’t hate this, but I have trouble seeing this as something fro radio. Lainey sounds great here though. Really been loving her!

Okay this is really good. Definitely would need a radio edit but oh my gosh this is so good.

Ok, this is one of my favorites of the year. So good. I hope it smashes.

Interesting to see how radio treats this: either way Lainey sounds great as usual and Hardy’s upcoming tunes might be my most anticipated project this year

This is really good, but holy s**t this is dark. It would've been the kind of song to become a signature hit (like "Fancy") back in the day, but slotting this between fluffy stuff like "New Truck" and "Country'd Look Good on You" might be a challenge. It's a shame to think this might struggle at radio because we definitely need artists to take more risks like this again, but I do think that it'll probably still do well enough between the name recognition behind both of them as two of the favorites among the genre's crop of new stars. Lainey sounds absolutely incredible on this, and I loved her look in the video.
Also, random, but "Heart Like a Truck" has become one of my bf's favorite country songs and his commentary on it was basically "this sounds like a song written by a woman who's probably had some abusive relationships in her past" and then she follows it up with... this, so I'm gonna say he was probably onto something.

The plot of music video reminds me of that of music video of Take Your Time, except maybe more violent, but it is literally from lyrics instead of Take Your Time's alternate interpretation of the lyrics.

I don't know if radio will embrace it, but this is so damn good.

Great song, but will it be too dark for radio? It actually requires listeners to listen, could be a tough sell. But kudos to these two for releasing something meaningful.

This song and video are incredible and really bought be back to my childhood. Praying this is A HUGE hit for both of them as it has potential to be a big statement of a record for both of them.

And to think that "Fancy" *only* peaked at #8... and I feel like country radio might have been more open to tracks like that back in the day? Not sure, but I don't know if I can name a super dark-sounding hit that became a big hit. Either way, I am going to echo the general sentiment here in saying that this is really good.

I had actually thought of that song as well while listening to this one. "Wait in the Truck" is probably the darkest radio single (from a mainstream country artist) since that one, which was nearly two decades ago at this point.

WOW. Listening to this gave me chills. The video was as equally as chilling. Even though this might be too dark for the current Country radio atmosphere…I’m still hoping it’ll become a huge hit!

I’ll add to the chorus here and say this is really good, but it definitely feels out of place in the current radio landscape so I’m not sure it’ll get massive airplay. Even if radio doesn’t take to it, I’m sure it’ll smash in every other metric.

How about “Burning House” or “Two Black Cadillacs”. Neither of those is nearly as "dark" as this, though I guess "Cadillacs" comes close-ish.

Martha Divine is a radio single that I think is quite dark. We saw how well that one did... My comment is to respond to ""Wait in the Truck" is probably the darkest radio single (from a mainstream country artist) since that (Whiskey Lullaby)" HARDY is well-established and well-liked by the industry enough to take a risk. Brad Paisley was also one of the most popular stars at the time Whiskey Lullaby was released.

That song had dark lyrics but it was delivered in a comical way like "Goodbye Earl," i.e.
