CS is already top 20 on Spotify and pulling away further from Karma. It’s clearly the people’s choice and a potential song of summer 2023. Taylor has the power to have multiple songs smash simultaneously, but I do think her team should focus on pushing CS, at least with a properly timed remix with a high profile feature. I hope her team does not push a remix. It could be a good idea if it's a proper remix like Love Story and Bad Blood got where they change the instrumental and arrangement (and maybe even the genre) of it. If it's going to be exactly the same as the original but with a singer or rapper doing a verse then there's not much point imo. Like the reason Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey did well was because there was two, quite different versions which were both independently popular (both were top 40 on Spotify at the same time, so combined it ended up top 10 on the Hot 100).

That list of CHR/Pop peaks is impressive - with "The Story of Us" being her only officially pushed single as lead artist to miss the Top 20.

I don't think Cruel Summer needs a mix.

I can’t imagine anyone other than Taylor singing Cruel Summer, and it most definitely doesn’t seem like a song that a rap verse would fit

What benefit would come from CS getting a remix or a video or anything that requires any effort that isn’t already taking place now? The album has been top 10 now for a month or more, she’s dominating headlines and social media already, and radio is actually playing her stuff. I get that it would be another title on the charts but beyond that, what’s the benefit that would make back any money/time put into it?

The only benefit would be pushing the streams enough right at its peak to snag a week in the Billboard top 5 or even #1. There's no benefit to her career per se, just for stans.

Back to the thread title “KARMA”, the single releases of this era has been perfect! Each release just gets better. If she goes with “Midnight Rain” next, it’ll be all of my fav songs from the album.

TS on verge of a *third* track reaching Top 10 Pop from one project.
Something few stans thought possible even in their wildest dreams just six months ago.
And, yet ...

Spincreases:
7,398 spins away from #5 - Kill Bill (+422) 3,703 spins away from #6 - Die For You (+317) 3,427 spins away from #7 - Boy's a Liar (+405) 3,311 spins away from #8 - Chemical (+244) 2,045 spins away from #9 - Eyes Closed (+263) 1,896 spins away from #10 - Nonsense (+316)
681 spins away from #11 - Last Night (+267) 321 spins away from #12 - Players (+558)

She hit the Swift slowdown a bit late with this one. Instead of late teens, early teens it is! lol

I could totally see this one going all the way. Taylor is the moment now and while she has been since Midnights came out, it’s so much harder to ignore now. Radio seems to have caught up, given how fast “Karma” has risen. How does its rise compare to “Lavender Haze”?

i doubt it goes #1 without a remix but it does look like a pretty surefire hit

Lavender Haze had great updates up to the mid and lower 20s.. then slowed down in the teens to a point we thought it was barely gonna make top 15. Then picked up and went top 5 eventually. But to be fair almost every song on pop had awful updates at the time.

This is actually rising similarly to "You Need To Calm Down".
"Karma":
41-29-17-13
"You Need To Calm Down":
39-19-14-12-11-10-9 peak (6 weeks)

Sure its slowing down but it still has much more momentum than all her singles since Delicate, excluding Anti Hero.

Now that Sure Thing is on top, this has my vote for the most likely current CHR song to be the next #1.
The four possibilities I can imagine right now are this, Chemical, a song that isn't out yet, or Flowers sneaking up to the top again.

Like I posted above its moving very similarly to the way "You Need To Calm Down" did in all actuality, which blew up and had huge updates until just outside the top 10 and then hit a wall (even the week to week trajectory is similar tho "YNTCD" was a bit faster). Hopefully this doesn't do the same, but yeah, their performances are the closest of any of her singles post "Delicate", momentum included. I even think their streaming performance was similar with both lingering in the 30s at this stage in their run.

I’m happy it got to be a single, even if it stalls. Same with Out Of The Woods, I was so thrilled it became a single that I didn’t care how it performed. It peaked at 13, I think. Her favourite number.
