Both are kind of tacky and disingenuous, but I think this makes Taylor look worse. She already got her #1, why isn't that good enough for her, let someone else have it. She's kind of like a chart bully, pushing anyone from the top who would dare threaten her reign!

Love me some Rihanna, but this decision to throw this much stuff (massive radio deals, bundles, extra versions) against such a mediocre track is interesting. It's not even her lead lol
I also don't remember any of the first BP tracks getting this kind of push, probably because Pray For Me and All The Stars actually had decent streaming. It's gonna be real embarrassing for Lift Me Up in the next couple weeks if it doesn't pick up some steam organically.
LMAO @ Taylor too, like you already got massive streaming girl, why the extra version?

A song with almost 3M daily streams on Spotify is in danger of losing #1 spot to a song that is currently charting outside the Top 30 on both Apple and Spotify. And the album that currently occupies 9/10 spots on Spotify and 7/10 spots on Apple Music will be barred from the Top 10 except for one song? They have managed to come up with a new formula to make their charts even more meaningless than they already are.

^ But won't Rihanna's #1 need an asterisk if it only gets there because of the plethora of versions available? Taylor and BTS are playing the same damn game. Stop pretending Taylor is almighty and can do no wrong. Is she playing the game by what's allowed? Hell yes! Do we wish our faves probably played the game as well as Taylor does? Duh! Is it still desperate as f**k, inconsiderate to her fans, and come with an added asterisk? ALSO f**kinG HELL YES!! Show me where I said it wasn't going to be with an asterisk? Show me where I said Rihanna was right for sending a million copies for sale to try to game her way to #1. Ya'll are too quick to start s**t for no reason and search for a week old post. They're both with an asterisk. Taylor just continued the same gamesmanship and released a last hail mary instrumental. But if one of them has to get the #1 position, I'm rooting for Riri.

A song with almost 3M daily streams on Spotify is in danger of losing #1 spot to a song that is currently charting outside the Top 30 on both Apple and Spotify. in the last 3 days, LMU's streams are tragic, but OVERALL it'll have more than 25M (27,3M according to Winston) so that's what really counts (not only Monday-Thursday streams) + 40k sales and 50M airplay, so yeah, these numbers are deserving of a #1 in a year where most of #1s had less than 300 points. Midnights streaming is still impressive af, but let's be real, most of those songs have almost 0 sales and airplay, and Hot 100 without those two metrics is a streaming chart, and luckily we have that chart too. 9/20 songs in the 2nd week is an amazing achievement if you ask me.

With the music video, visualiser, lyric videos etc, it's done ~45 million views combined on youtube. I assume a large chunk of that will be from the US. That's likely making up for its streaming being lower on other platforms.

I understand that, but Hot 100 is based on numbers, not on our subjective opinions, if that's the case, good 4 u would've been the longest running #1 of last year, not Butter. Imagine a scenario where we have one song that got 400 points on its first day and 0 for the rest of the week and another song that constantly gets 50 every day. A song with more points would win, not one that's constantly more popular in 6/7 days.

Y’all are NEVER gonna be happy with a #1. It’s an asterisk if fans organize a campaign. It’s an asterisk if an artist releases multiple versions. It’s an asterisk if there’s a radio deal. And if it’s not one of those things, it’s that radio is weighted too much. Or maybe sales is weighted too much this time. Or maybe it shouldn’t count if its streaming is part of an album bomb.
It’s desperate and pathetic if the artist/label puts in a major effort to get a song to #1, or maybe it’s stupid of the artist/label when they *don’t* do stunts to get a song to #1, but it has to be organic, unless that organic #1 is only because it’s playlisted somewhere, and on and on and on…
Tbh what the labels/artists are doing is just business, and the only thing desperate or embarrassing is seeing so many of y’all lose your damn minds over this stuff.

I kinda hope Lift me up does go #1 just so Taylor gets blocked/knocked off by someone doing the same games she always plays. I don't think lift me up will or even deserves the #1 but I just think it would be ironic.
Also I don't know why Taylor/her label even are pushing so hard? They have their #1 and the whole top ten already.
Regardless I love these chart weeks.

Why are people saying "it's not even her real lead"? Who said Rihanna will be releasing an album?

They probably saw the small gap and decided to do the bare minimum to help the song. I will never understand why someone would pay for an alternate digital cover... like... download the image for free and stamp it on your original copy with iTunes lmao.

Meghan ahead of RiRi on Spotify. I never.
I suppose Billboard could reduce radio's ratio to account for the switch.
The bigger question: will Xmas songs *suffer* - they definitely benefited from enhanced streaming, especially from Alexa.

Seems that the only major recurrent this week is gonna be Glimpse Of Us. The Bailey Zimmerman songs are close enough to being above 50 that they're probably gonna survive.

Paywalled, does someone have the text to that? Much appreciated! Data and insights company Luminate, which provides data for Billboard’s charts, has partnered with airplay monitoring service Mediabase, and the latter’s radio tracking data will begin fueling Billboard surveys reflecting airplay activity dated Nov. 12. Luminate previously provided radio data for Billboard airplay charts as monitored by BDS. Airplay charts (based on audience and/or plays) finalized Monday, Nov. 7 (dated Nov. 12), will be the first using Mediabase data. Individual-format airplay charts dated Nov. 12 will reflect airplay tracked Monday, Oct. 31, through Sunday, Nov. 6. The Nov. 12-dated Radio Songs chart, which serves as the airplay chart component to the all-genre, multi-metric Billboard Hot 100 (which also blends streaming and sales data, as compiled by Luminate), and reflects a Friday-Thursday cycle, will incorporate BDS data for Oct. 28-30 and Mediabase data for Oct. 31-Nov. 3 (with Mediabase data to power Radio Songs thereafter). Billboard will continue to maintain unique charts and reporter panels, separate from Mediabase’s, for all formats. Upon the change, Billboard will continue to incorporate all current reporting stations that are also monitored by Mediabase for Billboard’s charts. Billboard and Mediabase aim to add additional reporting stations going forward. Meanwhile, weekly and year-end Billboard charts will continue to be compiled via the same parameters previously applied with BDS data. (Year-end airplay rankings will continue to reflect songs’ activity while on corresponding weekly charts.) I kinda hope Lift me up does go #1 just so Taylor gets blocked/knocked off by someone doing the same games she always plays. I don't think lift me up will or even deserves the #1 but I just think it would be ironic. Also I don't know why Taylor/her label even are pushing so hard? They have their #1 and the whole top ten already. I wouldn't call a random thursday afternoon drop of an instrumental pushing too hard tbh. They probably saw the small gap and decided to do the bare minimum to help the song. I will never understand why someone would pay for an alternate digital cover... like... download the image for free and stamp it on your original copy with iTunes lmao. It's just an excuse to give stans something to do to "help" the artist, of course. And some stans are completists and want everything. It's just artists/labels taking advantage of the psychology of standom. Rihanna released new video "Rihanna - Lift Me Up (Karaoke Video)" total 9 videos in a week. Lol wow. Even if this isn't her lead single from a new album, they certainly pushed it to radio and in terms of 'tricks' like it was a new lead single. It certainly wasn't a quiet release.

(Year-end airplay rankings will continue to reflect songs’ activity while on corresponding weekly charts.) Along with Radio Songs, Billboard’s United States-based airplay charts encompass: Pop Airplay (Mainstream Top 40); Adult Pop Airplay (Adult Top 40); Adult Contemporary; Country Airplay; Rock & Alternative Airplay; Alternative Airplay; Adult Alternative Airplay (Triple A); Mainstream Rock Airplay; R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay; Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay; Adult R&B Airplay; Rap Airplay; Rhythmic Airplay; Latin Airplay; Regional Mexican Airplay; Latin Pop Airplay; Latin Rhythm Airplay; Tropical Airplay; Christian Airplay; Christian AC Airplay; Gospel Airplay; Dance/Mix Show Airplay; Smooth Jazz Airplay; and the seasonal Holiday Airplay chart. (View all Billboard charts here.) Click here for more information, via Luminate, about the BDS/Mediabase transition (for Luminate subscribers with access to Luminate’s Music Connect platform). “Mediabase has proven itself to be the most trusted and referenced radio data provider in today’s fast-moving, ever-changing music industry,” said Luminate CEO Rob Jonas in a statement earlier this year. “At Luminate, we pride ourselves in being able to provide our clients – whether they be major record labels, tech companies, film studios, TV networks or indie music powerhouses – with the absolute best information they need to operate and grow their businesses. This new partnership allows us to do just that.” Said Mediabase president and CEO Philippe Generali, “This new strategic partnership allows us the opportunity to be innovative in our approach to radio monitoring and to further ours and Luminate’s positions as undisputed experts in music data.” I take it it's all but confirmed Luminate is buying Mediabase then. Wonder if this will lead to them buying WARM Music since that monitors even more stations than Mediabase does.
