Tbh I never thought I'd see the day that Alvvays released new music lol. This song just is so damn good. It's very feel good and vibey and I love it so much.

Ngl when the album first came out, I wasn't sold on this track. It was good but also felt like a standard dance pop song. The more I listened to it this past year though the more I became obsessed with it. The last minute is my favorite though - when Mica says "Make this moment eternal" and the beat just does its thing, it feels like such a celebratory listening experience.

UN VIP, UN VIP

Legit one of the best hits of the year. I've been obsessed with Un Verano Sin Ti for the second half of the year and this was clearly a highlight for me. Genuinely so fun to dance to, like the moment the beat kicks in I just need to get up and dance lol.

Ok so I've somewhat shared my thoughts on this song before, but want to give some more on why this song is one of the most hard hitting songs of the year. It's probably the song I needed to hear the most in 2022. This year was truly one of the most challenging years I've faced in a while, and there were many times where I just wanted the world to pause for a bit. I don't know if I want to go into a lot of detail, but I do think writing out some of my feelings helps me a bit. The song "Free" kind of just hit me hard in the second half of the year, and the general feeling of anxiety described just kind of felt similar to the things I've felt especially this year. But the one lyric that really hit me the most in this song is when she sings "For a moment, when I'm dancing I am free". It got me thinking about the times scattered throughout the year where I truly felt carefree and would remember to live in the moment. And for me, dancing is such an essential part of my life; There have been many times where I've had a solo dance party in my room, or was dancing with my family (especially my mom who I share a love of music with), and in those moments I just feel free. Free from my anxiety, free from the stresses of dealing with things like car issues/COVID/etc., free from the pain of losing multiple family members in one year. This song is just so essential to me this year and has impacted me in a way that is hard to fully explain. I could keep going on, but I'm going to stop typing here before I keep writing for the rest of the day haha.

Some of you are going to *love* that I charted this lol. I was definitely obsessed with this song earlier this year when I watched the movie. It has cooled on me a bit but I'd be lying if I said I hated it. I thought it was cool to see this hit #1!

Thank you to Geometrical for this discovery. This is another one of those "I'm surprised I like this so much" songs, but it's just so catchy and I love the darkwave style.

Yeah haha same. I've never actually seen the music video since I just listen on Spotify, so when I was looking on Youtube and saw part of it I was low key scared lol. I'll just continue to avoid watching the music video

When I first listened to The Kick, this honestly wasn't something I remember clicking with a whole lot (at least compared to Two Kinds Of Silence for example). But then I heard people talk about it and so I revisited it and like damn was I glad I didn't sleep on this. What a bop. The production (especially in the chorus) makes this one of the best pop songs of 2022.

This is a more "simple" sounding song, but I just love how comforting it is. Jensen really has a great voice! Also the bridge is probably my favorite part of this.

Honestly this might be a contender for my personal SOTY? Legit so addicting and catchy, and just 6 minutes of pure entertainment. The beat is infectious and Beyoncé's vocal performance might be her strongest yet. I forgot to add a * to say this is still charting, but it might be a similar case to my #14 () where it sticks around well into the 2023 chart year. Also probably Beyoncé's best song and best album I fear.

Spellling's ability to make music that feels so enchanting is insane. Little Deer is absolutely beautiful, hearing her perform this live in the rain was truly a wonderful experience.

This song has had me in a chokehold over the last year and a half. Everything about You Lose! is just insanely good; Mica's singing, the video game-esque vibes, Matt's production, Mica screaming and like this song's vibe is just so 2000s in a way and I love that. Idk I can't fully collect my thoughts but legit one of the best songs of the 2020s.
