and if I'm not wrong, she's the only artist to achieve this in the last 4 decades.

And maybe Madonna too Give Me All Your Luvin' only spent 6 weeks on the Hot 100. "4 Minutes" is her last song to spend 20 weeks.

We're not even three weeks into 2023 and Miley Cyrus has already set the stage for one of the biggest songs of the year. "Flowers" (Columbia) owns the streaming charts around the world, and Spotify has confirmed that the song's had the biggest single week of any track in the DSP's history.
"Flowers" will open at #1 today on our U.S.-based Overall Song Streams chart with a projected 40m on-demand audio plays. Globally, the song is ever bigger, with Spotify alone pulling in nearly 100m streams. Miley's bouquet also debuts at #1 on the Spotify charts in Canada, the U.K., Australia, Denmark, Iceland and other far-flung lands.
Downloads for "Flowers" have exceeded 75k, giving it one of the biggest first-week track-sales totals of the past several years. As regards song activity, look for this floral phenomenon to come in at 390k+.
How much will "Flowers" grow? We'll keep our nose in the data.

With the success of Flowers, I'm still bitter about how Plastic Hearts performed in the US, Midnight Sky should have been bigger and Prisoner should have been a hit.

I have yet to see anyone on this forum talk about this but. Is it me or does Flowers sound a bit like I Will Survive?

Haven't done this in months but here's a small briefing on what i think goes recurrent this week: Hold Me Closer (isn't even gaining on the radio so it won't get the pass so many got over the holidays) Fall In Love (i mean, it's country radio run is over, Jimmy Cooks has already left, and it's literally at #50. i'd be shocked if it doesn't leave this week) Victoria's Secret (the radio has pretty thoroughly peaked for this one, and it's not like it has the streaming to hold) Son Of A Sinner (yeah, the usual fall-off for a song after it peaks on country radio likely means this one's leaving) As for some other songs that might come close but likely won't: Unstoppable (yeah this one actually gained on the radio this week. yeah the gains were incredibly small but still, yikes) About Damn Time and Vegas (these 2 are losing too slowly on the radio to really be in the running for recurrency) I Ain't Worried and Sunroof (same as above, just with the added bonus of being higher on the charts as the other two) Fall in Love is getting boosted by an AM live version, should hold for at least one more week I think

I believe I mentioned it in the pop section of the board in the “Flowers” thread. I now hear other songs but I still also hear “I Will Survive”.

Anti Hero (with multiple 400+ point weeks) is being followed by a number one with over 400 points - has this happened since WAP was followed by Dynamite?*
*know dynamite wasn’t a number one by metrics today nor was it a real hit, but by billboard stats it was for this example

Flowers managed 40.4 million streams on the weekly HITS Streaming Songs chart, almost 11 million more streams than Kill Bill. Interestingly, it seems they forgot to include Shakira's Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 in their top 50.

Can y’all highlight the specific parts of Flowers that sound like these other songs?
Because you’re all making me hear things. And now I’m like, do I hear “Say So” in this too? 🤣

"The chorus of the song appeared to mirror the chorus of Bruno Mars' 'When I Was Your Man,' with the perspective of several lines flipped. "That I should've bought you flowers/And held your hand" from Mars' song becomes "I can buy myself flowers ... And I can hold my own hand," "Shoulda gave you all my hours" becomes "Talk to myself for hours," and "Take you to every party/'Cause all you wanted to do was dance" becomes "I can take myself dancing."

I'm okay with Flowers sounding like When I Was Your Man (pretty sure it's intentional), there's something satisfying about the two being exactly a decade apart

Thanks for those examples. Bruno’s ballads are not my thing so I wasn’t familiar with his song but it seems pretty obvious with that clip!

How amazing would it be if Miley did a remix with Gloria Gaynor, that version somehow got the most points, and Gloria got her second number one hit 44 years after her first. The amount of records that would break...

The amount of records that would break... Miley actually did a remix with Stevie Nicks for Midnight Sky, so I'd say it's more likely than one may think. As for whether the remix will be more successful, it depends.

Utterly insane. I still find it odd that inspite of all of this Creepin is expected to gain a new peak this week. I guess that's what an insane week of gains on the radio and increasing streaming gains do. Haven't done this in months but here's a small briefing on what i think goes recurrent this week: Fall In Love (i mean, it's country radio run is over, Jimmy Cooks has already left, and it's literally at #50. i'd be shocked if it doesn't leave this week) Fall in Love is getting boosted by an AM live version, should hold for at least one more week I think Given it seemed to be enough to get the song back on Hitsdd's Streaming Songs, i guess that's gonna be true. Speaking of Hitsdd's Streaming Songs: -I wonder when Kill Bill is gonna hit a new peak on streaming as it's still gaining there. Not in position, but in total streaming numbers. -Superhero (Heroes and Villians) is still gaining, and pretty heavily at that? Huh. -Why did Snooze gain this much? -I thought Sure Thing was gonna stall on streaming and was gonna fall off this week. Guess i'm wrong. Chances it gets a new peak today?
