also enwhy apologies if I didn’t understand the pick 3 rules correctly, but I think people like zach bryan and sza should have more than 5 points since their songs lasted longer than a week so should have more points than 5

also enwhy apologies if I didn’t understand the pick 3 rules correctly, but I think people like zach bryan and sza should have more than 5 points since their songs lasted longer than a week so should have more points than 5 Great question! So based on the way I wrote the original rules, you only get points for your 1st week in the top 10, top 40, etc. But as artists have started to accumulate points, I realize this doesn't make much sense. A song that charts below the Top 40 for half the year is obviously more of a hit than a 1 week Top 40 peak. So while I'm not a fan of changing the rules at this stage, I do think I badly need to finetune the point system to reward longevity. Here is how the updated "Pick 3" points system will work: - 50 Points for reaching #1
- 20 Points for reaching Top 10
- 10 Points for reaching Top 40
- 5 Points for reaching Top 100
- 10 Points for each additional week at #1
- 5 Points for each additional week at #2-10 (NEW)
- 2 Points for each additional week at #11-40 (NEW)
- 1 Point for each additional week at #41-100 (NEW)
This should help balance things out. For example, "Dawns" by Zach Bryan has now earned 11 points (previously 5), for spending 7 weeks outside the Top 40. I've retroactively applied this system to all weeks so far, and updated through 3/25 (now includes Miley's album week). Here's how this impacts the artist leaderboard. You may notice that this makes Morgan Wallen's total look even more insurmountable now. However, this system should make it easier for other artists to catch up throughout the year (without releasing 36 new songs!). 462 - Morgan Wallen (Selected by rainie, renfield75) 30 - Miley Cyrus (Selected by rnb, jasper0102, 1^∞, big2000, khan, 💎 𝑔𝓋 💎, kindofbiased, fengyu) 26 - Luke Combs (Selected by renfield75, mms82, jasper0102, Baby Yoda Hot100Fan, ephelia) 25 - Rihanna (Selected by ephelia, jayhawk1117) 11 - Zach Bryan (Selected by khan, gikem) 9 - Lil Baby (Selected by khan, mms82) 9 - SZA (Selected by Rose Wintur) 9 - YoungBoy NBA (Selected by imhappy259) 8 - Lil Uzi Vert (Selected by joshtheking, 1^∞) 5 - J. This week's questions (Deadline Thurs, March 30)Q1: Country at #1Morgan Wallen landed “Last Night” at #1 a couple of weeks ago. His achievement marked only the 5th country #1 of the century. It’s also the first solo male country hit in over 40 years! Safe to say, Wallen has broken through in a way that most modern country stars have not been able. Is this the start of a trend, or an interesting one-off? Will an artist besides Morgan Wallen have a #1 country song in 2023? (Thru 12/30 chart)Q2: 2021 vs 2022Each year, Billboard comes out with a year-end list of the top artists, based on “an artist's chart performance on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and Boxscore touring revenue.” For this question, we’re pitting the 2022 top artists vs the 2021 top artists!* Which group will perform better in 2023? 2021 Top 5: Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, The Weeknd, Morgan Wallen, Ariana Grande 2022 Top 5: Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran Will the 2021 Top 5 or 2022 Top 5 artists have a higher average rank on the 2023 Billboard Artist 100 Year-End?*As a technical note, several artists appeared on both lists and I had to break the ties. 2021 got Drake (higher rank) & Morgan Wallen (same rank, 1st appearance), while 2022 got Taylor (higher rank)Q3: BlackjackCredit to 1^∞ for the idea for this one. Blackjack, for those unfamiliar, is a card game where you draw cards to get the highest possible total without exceeding 21. In our game, we’ll play something similar: The goal is to pick a song you think will peak the highest, without entering the Top 20! (Your ideal pick would peak at #21). To make this a little more fun, the “end-date” will be set for 3 months from now…we’ll look at each song’s all-time peak (even if it occurred before this week). You may select any currently-charting song, as of 4/1 chart. Here are some contenders to help you choose: Escapism: #22 Peak, #23 Last Week Going, Going, Gone: #23 Peak, #27 Last Week Until I Found You: #23 Peak, #28 Last Week Wait In The Truck: #23 Peak, #42 Last Week Sure Thing: #24 Peak, #24 Last Week Bebe Dame: #25 Peak, #47 Last Week Painting Pictures: #25 Peak, #53 Last Week Snooze: #29 Peak, #35 Last Week Heart Like A Truck: #29 Peak, #38 Last Week River: #32 Peak, #32 Last Week Favorite Song: #36 Peak, #36 Last Week What current song will peak the highest, without entering the Top 20? (Thru 7/1 chart)* *This one is worth 50 points for an solo winner, or 25 each for multiple winners

1. No - Even Morgan Wallen couldn't hold onto that spot for more than a week. His best competition, Luke Combs, just released an album which is performing really well but clearly isn't getting that #1.
2. 2021 - Drake, the Weeknd, and Morgan Wallen are just evergreen picks for a question like this. Though Taylor's presence on the 2022 list means it's gonna be close.
3. Escapism - I made a prediction a little bit ago in this very thread that #22 would be its peak, so I might as well stick to that.

1. No...probably the only person who could do it right now is Morgan himself and I don't see him releasing any all-new singles after dropping a 36 song album 2.2021...Taylor's boxscore will make this tough but I think more of 2021's acts will have high profile releases this year 3.Escapism...everything else on the list has likely already peaked lower or will crack the top 20

1. Yes. Changing my answer on account of Taylor possibly releasing. enwhy I think Last Night is actually the 5th country Hot 100 #1 this century (the first being Lonestar's Amazed in 2000 and the second Carrie Underwood's Inside Your Heaven in 2005), but yes it's still quite rare, happening only once every several years! 2. 2021. Usually the top artists from just the previous year don't rank so highly the next, and though Taylor could put up a strong hold, I can't see any of the others from 2022 doing so, and with Morgan already performing strongly and Olivia due to release (and maybe Ariana), that should outweigh it. 3. Escapism - going with this because it seems to have probably already peaked the closest to #21.

1. Yes (changing this because there’s a chance Speak Now(Taylor’s Version) drops this year) 2. 2021 3. Escapism. Most of these songs have peaked and the only 2 that likely haven’t (Sure Thing and Favorite Song) will probably peak in the top 20.

1. Yes (presuming Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) songs count, I bet she’ll pull out stops to get an Enchanted #1) 2. 2021 3. Escapism

1. Yes - Speak Now is coming, and Taylor is somehow commercially bigger than ever. The original Speak Now was considered Country at the time by Billboard, and so I expect the same treatment for the Taylor's Version. She will pull out all the stops to get a #1, and frankly, who can stop her?
2. 2022 - This depends IMO on Doja releasing new music and Drake/Olivia having quiet years. All of that seems plausible to me, although this will probably be close.
3. Going, Going, Gone - I still have faith that Escapism will eek out a top 20 peak in the next couple of weeks.

Ah, thank you for the correction! I was going off of Last Week's Billboard list of songs which hit #1 on the Hot Country chart and the Hot 100. The Country chart must have had a different methodology back then, as the Carrie Underwood song didn't even reach the top 10 on Country, despite being #1 on the Hot 100.

Yes, the list they provided must have been from 2012 on, when the Country chart (and most other genre charts) went multi-metric. Before then, it was only airplay! Good point though about Taylor releasing, I didn't think of that, so might change my answer!

Q1: Country at #1Will an artist besides Morgan Wallen have a #1 country song in 2023? (Thru 12/30 chart)No Q2: 2021 vs 20222021 Top 5: Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, The Weeknd, Morgan Wallen, Ariana Grande 2022 Top 5: Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran Will the 2021 Top 5 or 2022 Top 5 artists have a higher average rank on the 2023 Billboard Artist 100 Year-End?Imma say 2022 b/c Taylor, but Morgan is a strong force behind 2021. If Drake releases, 2021 will prolly win but I'll stick with 2022. Q3: BlackjackWhat current song will peak the highest, without entering the Top 20? (Thru 7/1 chart)*"Until I Found You"
