After 3 weeks at #1, Boy's a Liar slides to #9 on US TikTok.
The #1 song is It's Called: Freefall, a 2018 song by indie rock group Rainbow Kitten Surprise. The song is seeing some traction on US Spotify, breaking into the Top 150 today. Fun fact: RKS's lead singer, Ela Melo, is trans!
Every Summertime by Indonesian singer-songwriter NIKI is at #2. The song is not seeing much streaming traction yet, and is mainly being used in a "moon phase" trend for couples.
And It's A Wrap by Mariah Carey is at #3. This one has been through a couple waves of virality over the past few months.

It’d be in the top 20 I think, taking 28 weeks to make the top 10 is not enough to reach the exclusive threshold of taking 30+ weeks to make it, but it’s still close.

Most recent one I can think of is Jack Harlow's Come Home, The Kids Miss You which debuted #3 on the BB200 and had no other hits besides the huge 3 week #1 hit First Class.

I believe they are talking about the songs from the album itself. Piece by Piece did debut at #8 mostly because a major surge in digital song sales after Kelly performed a new version of it on American Idol. Heartbeak Song from the same album peaked at #21 and charted for 20 weeks in the Hot 100. But neither song managed to make the Hot 100 Year-End. Anyway, the album did manage to debut at #1 in the Billboard 200, but with 97k SPS (83k) but Stronger debuted at #2 with 163k pure sales.

Regarding an artist that significantly underperformed singles-wise from one album to the next, one that comes to mind for me Meghan Trainor. With Thank You, she managed to get two year-end Hot 100 songs: No (#45, #3 peak) and Me Too (#62, #13 peak). With Treat Myself, she managed a #46 peak with No Excuses. Thank You debuted at #3 in Billboard 200 with 107k SPS (64k pure) while Thank You debuted at #26 with about 21k SPS (11k pure).

She was dropping 5-10% per week the past few weeks before the album. I'd expect her to start dropping 10% per week now that the radio's peaking. Barring another song popping up, Kill Bill could be competitive for #1 by the 4/8 chart.

I think that only had the NMF playlisting but that's it really. It was never sent to radio nor did it get a music video. I feel like that was smart because I don't think it would've done too well tbh. Hopefully he comes back with music that's better than that album.

The original song is probably my favorite among the Afrobeat crossover hits we've got so far, but the fact that the remix with a Western artist isn't actively repulsive like the one for Essence is a huge plus too.

Also, I'm happy to see how strong the top of the chart had been so far this year. Last year around the same time we have Heat Waves at #1 with around the same points as the current #6

To answer your first question, it happened twice in 2020 with 7 Summers and I Hope and then a few months later with I Hope and Forever After All. I don't know if it happened again after those two.
