17. Fu-Gee-La - FugeesFormed in New Jersey, the Fugees consists of Wyclef Jean, Pras Michel, and Lauryn Hill. They broke through with the release of their 1996 album The Score. That album's lead single, "Fu-Gee-La", peaked at #2 on the rap chart, #13 on the R&B chart, and #29 on the Hot 100. Samples "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right" by Ramsey Lewis and "Shakiyla (JRH)" by Poor Righteous Teachers, and contains an interpolation of "Ooo La La La" by Teena Marie. It was later sampled in "Sidewalks" by The Weekend and "Moonlight" by Jay-Z, and was interpolated in "Na Na" by Trey Songz. Years later, Protect Ya Neck kinda feels like it obliterates this song, but still a classic.

Back to catching up on #50-41: 50. Slam - Onyx: I really enjoyed "Slam" and enough so to rank it at #58. So not too far off and not mad at this ranking. The chorus of this song is catchy and def sticks in my head. Again, I find it impressive that this made it to the Top 50 without any rankings above #24. 49. Vivrant Thing - Q-Tip: This is a really fun song. I do really like this enough to rank it at #43. Such a jam! Good with this ranking though I wouldn't have minded it if it was a little higher. Wow pretty solid/good stats for this song as it didn't recieve any Bottom 25 rankings. :o 48. Money, Power, Respect - The L.O.X. feat. DMX & Lil Kim: Oooh yes, I really like this and this song is also a fire jam! I liked it enough to rank it at #57. It was one of those songs I always enjoyed while hearing it but was never really that in love with it. But good ranking for this. 47. Jump - Kris Kross: UGHH nooo, when I saw a Top 5 would be lost and then seeing "Jump" showing up, I was thinking "dangg that's me!" Ugh nooo, I'm so sad seeing this show up as this was my #5... and my first top five loss. This song was my literal childhood back in the day. I just loved and was soo obsessed with this song. I still love it and it brings back such great memories for me. I'm pleased there were no Bottom 10 rankings but this still deserved better. 46. I Used To Love H.E.R. - Common: Okay good another one of my lower ranks show up, this time being my #81. I wasn't really too familiar with this song as a whole but I liked this. Just wasn't really a big standout but it's a cool song. 45. It's All About The Benjamins - Puff Daddy & The Family: Aww I love this song too. Oh whoa, I'm surprised seeing this ranked at #36 as I thought I had ranked this so much higher, lmao. I don't know what happened. But I guess this was such a stacked list. But still this is a fun jam that I do love, though haven't listened to this in awhile. Surprised but happy to see no Bottom 15 ranks. 44. Cell Therapy - Goodie Mob: Interesting seeing this having the 3rd highest SD. I don't really know what to make of that. I don't really know this song and didn't really care that much for it, hence it being my #95. It probably deseved better than my ranking and maybe with more listens this could grow on me. 43. The Humpty Dance - Digital Underground: Ooh this is a really fun and enjoyable jam. It was a little before my time but it was a song that kinda stuck out with me because it was so fun. I liked it enough to rank it at #55. Sad to hear about two of the members passing away. And I had no idea TuPac had his start here. 42. Insane In The Brain - Cypress Hill: Really like this and this is such a fun jam too. Ah I had this ranked at #46, so dang I was so close to a perfect rank. But the chorus of this song is just so fun and exciting, and yeah really enjoy the sound of it. 41. Funkdafied - Da Brat: Ugh dangg I ranked this at #39 so once again, I was just two spots off from a perfect rank, dangg. But still, I really like this song and thought this was such a cool old school/early jam from Da Brat to put her on the rap game. Good stuff. Happy to see that this didn't get any Bottom 20 ranks.

Comments on #40 through #31: 40. Rump Shaker - Wreckx-N-Effect: Ugh noo, I'm sad seeing this showing up. But oh, I thought for sure I had this in this Top 10 but okay, kinda glad that wasn't the case as I had this at #12. But still, I do really love this song and this song is such a fun and catchy jam! Wish this could have ranked higher. Happy there are no Bottom 20 ranks for this. 39. Crush On You (Remix) - Lil Kim feat. Lil Cease: Hmm kinda surprised this wasn't higher. This was my #32 so I wish this was a little higher but not too upset about it showing up now. This was such a smooth and cool jam and I do love it. I think I am also surprised that this has the 8th highest SD as I didn't expect it to be so polarizing. 38. Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey) - De La Soul: Oops at me being by far the lowest ranker of this song, having it at #90. Oops, but I'm glad this showed up as this was one of my lower rankings. I don't really know this song that well hence the ranking and it didn't really stand out to me. 37. Still Not a Player - Big Pun feat. Joe: Ugh nooo, not another Top 10 loss here. Ugh I'm so sad and disappointed here. :'( This was my #8 and I'm the highest ranker here. Gahh I really love this song. It's such a fire jam! And it was one of those songs I really loved and was obsessed with and couldn't stop jamming to when it was out. So good. 36. The Choice Is Yours (Revisited) - Black Sheep: Oooh, I didn't really remember this song by its title but then listening to it, I really liked it. This is a good and enjoyable jam that I liked enough to rank it at #48. 35. Ghetto Supastar - Pras Michel feat. Ol' Dirty Bastard & Mya: Ughh noooo, not my #2. :'( Danngg this is a REALLY rough and tough loss to lose at this point. Ugh I LOVE this song so much and was so obsessed with this when this was out. I love what all of Pras, ODF and Mya bring to this track. Such a fun, catchy jam and I love how they sample "Islands In The Stream." Such a good jam and deserved better. Boo at the #92 rank. 34. Got Your Money - Ol' Dirty Bastard feat. Kelis: Oooh interesting seeing two ODB tracks back to back here. I would have preferred this being lower as this was my #44, but oh well. This song is still such a fun, catchy and great jam. Really like this a lot. 33. Whatta Man - Salt-N-Pepa feat. En Vogue: Ughh what the heck is going on? I'm losing sooo many big favorites now and I'm so sad about it. :'( Now my #7 goes. Ugh this song is such a hot, fire jam and it's an absolute classic. I am beyond shocked that this did not make it through to the Top 30, at least as I thought this would have done better. I knew I could count on Soulsista and Lucy with the high rankings though! 32. Quiet Storm - Mobb Deep feat. Lil Kim: Oooh this is a cool and smooth jam and I liked this enough to rank it at #64. I like what all of the rappers bring to this. I never really got to loving this but do still really like it. 31. Don't Sweat The Technique - Eric B. & Rakim: Ooh good, another lower rank of mine, this time my #67 showing up. This is another one of those songs I don't recognize by its title but I do really like the feel/sound of this. A cool jam. It could grow on me with more listens.

Catching up on #30 through #21: 30. Can I Get A... - Jay-Z feat. Ja Rule & Amil: Ughh not singingrulebritannia wishing for this song to show up and then.... it shows up next on this list. :'( Boooo sad about this showing up. I really love this song a ton as this is my #4. This song was once again, a big part of my childhood and I was just so obsessed and addicted to this. It's such a jam! I love what all of the artists bring to this song and this also helped me become a big fan of Jay's too. Pleased there are no Bottom 15 rankings but it still deserves better. Dangg I think I lost all of my Top 5 except my #1 now huh? 29. Jump Around - House Of Pain: I love this song but it's my #31 so a much better reveal for me. But ugh also another song I was just two spots away from a perfect rank for. This song gets me so hype and excited. Loveee the energy and vibe of this. So fun! Also kinda surprised seeing no Top 10 rankings for this. 28. Fantastic Voyage - Coolio: Love this song a lot too as I ranked this at #15. Glad to see this doing well here as I always thought this was such a fun and enjoyable jam. However, I do wish that "Gangsta's Paradise" was in place of this song as that for sure would have been in my Top 5. And it's so sad how we lost Coolio last year. :( 27. Back That Azz Up - Juvenile feat. Lil Wayne & Mannie Fresh: Ughh not another Top 20 loss. :( Where are my lower ranks gonna show up? This was my #16 so it's another song I love. This song was so popular, big and just everywhere but I never got tired of it. It's so fun, catchy and humorous. 26. Flava In Ya Ear - Craig Mack: This is a cool jam and I do really like this enough to rank it at #51. I am more familiar with and prefer the remix more of the two. Not surprised this did well though I was expecting it to do better. So sad about Craig Mack passing away in 2018. :( I also love how this was sampled in "Ain't It Funny." 25. U.N.I.T.Y. - Queen Latifah: Ughh so this seriously missed out on making the Top 20, let alone Top 10? Woww such a shame. This song was my #6. It's so iconic, memorable and simply a classic rap jam. I just love Queen Latifah's rapping style and vibe on this song. So good and memorable. Yay for the high rankings but ugh at two Bottom 20 rankings. :( 24. Mind Playing Tricks On Me - Geto Boys: I like the sound of this and it's a cool song here, but this was my #68, so I'm really pleased with this showing up. Though I wished it was lower than all of the songs of this 30-21 set, lmao. Not too familiar with this but it's cool. Sad that two of the members passed away here. :( 23. Around The Way Girl - LL Cool J: Such a good song and a great classic from LL Cool J. I feel bad ranking this at #42 as it certainly does deserve better than that. But this was a nice way to show the smoother softer side of him. Yeah it's just so good... but I guess not really a song I was obsessed/or loved that much? But still do really like it. 22. Ruff Ryders Anthem - DMX: This song is such a jam and goes in sooo hard. Loved the rough, rowdy anthemic feel of this. It's definitely a great song to get hyped and so excited over. This was my #26, so I do love this and ugh just a few spots off from a perfect rank. Nice seeing this doing well amongst all of us with no Bottom 35 rankings. :o 21. Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat) - Digable Planets: This is a really cool and smooth jam that I have always really liked and enjoyed. This isn't a song I played or listened to a lot but I just enjoy the sound and feel of this. Oops, I was one of the 3 Bottom 50 ranks as I ranked this at #52.

20. Scenario - A Tribe Called Quest: This is a really enjoyable and cool jam. I know and get it's a classic and I do really like it enough to rank it at #65. But this was a bit before my time and was never really a song I got all that invested in. I get how others did though. 19. O.P.P. - Naughty By Nature: Ugh this on the other hand is a huge favorite of mine. I ranked this at #13, so yay for not a Top 10 loss, but still a big loss. I do really love this song. It's just soo fun and catchy - how could you not sing along to that chorus? Great and fun jam! Ooh wow only two Bottom half ranks at #52 & #53? So no Bottom 45 rankings? That's amazing! 18. Still D.R.E. - Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg: Aww I love this song too as I ranked it at #30. I did prefer a number of other songs here but I still love this and this was still such a classic jam to me. Looove that beat and love what both Dre & Snoop bring to the song. 17. Fu-Gee-La - Fugees: Ahh I was hoping to see that I had a perfect ranking for this as I knew I had it ranked around here - but then I see I ranked this at #20, so ugh a bummer. Just 3 spots off. Another song I really love and think is such a classic jam. I love what all of the Fugees brought here. 16. C.R.E.A.M. - Wu-Tang Clan: Another song that I know is a classic but I just didn't really hear this much or ever really got into this - hence my #79 ranking. I do appreciate it but it was never really a major favorite of mine. Oops at me being the lowest ranker - sorry. But at least there were no Bottom 20 ranks. I guess the 9th highest SD isn't surprising after seeing the mix of high and lower rankings. Oooh nicee, I'm so glad to be caught up on the Top 15 now!

13. Tha Crossroads - Bone Thugs-N-HarmonyBone Thugs-N-Harmony were formed in Cleveland by Layzie Bone (Steven Howse), his cousin Wish Bone (Charles Scruggs), Krayzie Bone (Anthony Henderson), and Bizzy Bone (Byron McCane III). They were originally called Band Aid Boys before changing their name to B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e. After the release of their debut album they sought out Eazy-E and auditioned for him. He signed the group to Ruthless Records and changed the name to Thugs-N-Harmony, but the group wanted to keep the Bone name, so it was changed again to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Later joined by Layzie Bone's brother Flesh-N-Bone (Stanley Howse), they scored their biggest hit in 1996 with "Tha Crossroads". It topped the rap, R&B, and Hot 100 charts, and won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance By a Duo Or Group. It's a tribute to Eazy-E, who had passed away a year earlier, as well as other friends and family members. Samples "Make Me Say It Again Girl" by The Isley Brothers. 11. The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) - Missy ElliottBorn in Virginia, Melissa Elliott got her start as a member of an all-female R&B group called Fayze. It was also the start of a longtime working relationship with Timbaland, who was the group's producer. They caught the attention of DeVante Swing of Jodeci, who signed them to Elektra through his imprint Swing Mob and renamed the group Sista. Swing Mob later folded, and Missy and Timbaland began producing for artists like 702, Ginuwine, and Aaliyah. As a rapper, Missy had features on songs by Gina Thompson and MC Lyte. She signed with Elektra and started her own imprint Goldmind. Her debut album Supa Dupa Fly was released in 1997. The album's lead single, "The Rain", peaked at #6 on the R&B airplay chart. It samples "I Can't Stand The Rain" by Ann Peebles. IMO 2pac didn’t deserve to be top 10. It’s a nice song but he has much better too.
I think that Regulate is winning this.

Interesting--with how this rankdown has gone, I didn't expect "The Rain" to be the last song missing top 10. I definitely don't mind that it did, though.

It's cool that The Roots made top 10, I just wish it was with a song I liked more. I'm not even saying "You Got Me" wasn't a smart pick, because it was, and by all accounts I should love the track. It just hasn't made a big impact on me yet, and I've given it numerous chances. 🤷

I originally called out LL’s song for feeling like his usual love songs, but then I remember my #1 was literally a love song about a childhood crush. And boy, does it have the damn energy. It really should’ve made the top 10.

15. Passin' Me By - The Pharcyde: Oooh nicee yayyy, another one of my lower ranks shows up - and this time it's my #78 so I'm pleased with this missing the Top 10. Ooh wow, 2 #1s here. Anywho, this isn't a song that I am too familiar with but I do like the sound of this. I also loved Joe/Mystikal's "Stutter," so that helped me like this. It could grow on me with more listens. 14. I Got 5 On It - Luniz: Okay yayy more of my lower ranks coming up, keep them coming! I do really like this enough to rank it at #64. This was never really that big of a favorite for me as I didn't really listen to this much. But I have come to grown and appreciate this song over the years. 13. Tha Crossroads - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony: Ughh nooo, after losing two of my lower rankings, I kinda feared and was scared another high ranking of mine would show up and.... then it does. Ugh this is my #3. I absolutely love and adore this song. It's so good, raw, emotional and I love what all of the Bone Thugs members bring to this song. I'm really sad this missed the Top 10 as now I think I only got 1 of my Top 5 left.... and not sure how much of my Top 10 is left. Dangg I'm happy this has only two ranks in the Bottom half though it would have been better with no bottom ranks haha. And no Bottom 20 rankings is also really good. 12. Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See - Busta Rhymes: LOL Busta Rhymes annoyed me when I first heard of him but he had some songs that I liked/didn't mind from him. This was one of those songs and also one of those songs that grew on me over the years. I do really like/love this song and think it's a fun and catchy jam. I like it enough to rank it at #38. Nice that there are no Bottom 30 rankings for this. 11. The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) - Missy Elliott: Aww I'm kinda sad/disappointed seeing this song missing out making the Top 10. I did rank this at #18, so i do really love this song though I do have more passionate faves. But this is a great song and has an iconic video to it. I do prefer a number of other songs more from Missy but I do still love this. Yayy I'm happy we reached the Top 10 and I have caught up on it all now.

Happy we reached the Top 10. Although I wish I had more of my Top 10 remaining. I think I got these left:
1 11, 14, 19 21, 22 34, 35 56 77
Dangg only one of my Top 10 left... that's really bad and rough. :'( But at least it's my #1, which I am still rooting for to win. Though I do love all of the songs in my 1-22 range that's left so I would be pleased with any of those winning.

#20. A fun song. Would've preferred if Elextric Relaxation or Check the Rhime were the songs chosen to represent tribe but this'll do
#19. Used to not care for Naughty by Nature but this song has grown on me
#18. Again, I think there were other songs I would've wanted to represent Dr. Dre but that G-funk piano line is iconic
#17. Crazy how much Lauryn's talents make us forget how mediocre Pras and Wyclef are. The song's still great despite them
#16. Good but I've always preferred Protect Ya Neck
#15. Ugh, this really stings missing out in the Top 10. This song just gets better and better with every listen, I'm in awe every time
#14. A fun hit that's definitely deserves all the love it's gotten
#13. A great hip-hop ballad
#12. Like with Craig Mack, I love the creativity of the beat and flow, it's so much and feels so innovative
#11. I don't love it as much as I used to but a solid song still
A great top 10 btw

Not surprised Lauryn is the only (credited) woman to make the top-10. I honestly can't be mad at any of mine left winning this (but my #25 feels the least deserving).

10. They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.) - Pete Rock & CL SmoothFrom Mount Vernon, New York, the duo of Pete Rock (Peter Phillips) and CL Smooth (Corey Penn) scored their biggest hit in 1992 with "They Reminisce Over You". It topped the rap chart and peaked at #10 on the R&B chart. It's a tribute to their friend Trouble T. Roy, a member of Heavy D & The Boyz who was killed after falling from an exit ramp. Samples "Today" by Tom Scott & The California Dreamers and "When She Made Me Promise" by The Beginning Of The End. It's been sampled and referenced numerous times since its release. Pete Rock & CL Smooth went their separate ways in 1995. They reunited years later, but haven't worked together since 2018 due to old tensions resurfacing. 8. Keep Ya Head Up - 2PacBorn in NYC as Lesane Crooks, he was renamed Tupac Amaru Shakur when he was a year old. His parents were members of the Black Panther Party. He also spent time in Baltimore and California, where he started his career under the name MC New York. He later joined Digital Underground as a roadie and backup dancer. His 1993 single "Keep Ya Head Up" peaked at #2 on the rap chart, #7 on the R&B chart, and #12 on the Hot 100. It was built on a sample of "Be Alright" by Zapp and also contains an interpolation of "O-o-h Child" by The Five Stairsteps. Features vocals by Dave Hollister. Tupac was robbed and shot in the lobby of a recording studio in 1994. He would accuse The Notorious B.I.G. and Puffy among others of knowing about or being involved in the incident, which helped to ignite the East Coast/West Coast rap rivalry. In 1996 Tupac was shot while in Las Vegas for a Mike Tyson fight. He died as a result of the shooting six days later. 7. If I Ruled The World (Imagine That) - Nas feat. Lauryn HillBorn in Brooklyn, Nasir Jones started his career under the name Kid Wave before changing it to Nasty Nas. His 1996 single "If I Ruled The World", featuring Lauryn Hill, peaked at #15 on the rap chart and #17 on the R&B chart. Based on the Kurtis Blow song of the same name, it was built on a sample of "Friends" by Whodini and also interpolates "Walk Right Up To The Sun" by The Delfonics.
