Bring me Hard Knock Life for this year, I wouldβve treated it well. But this was just so basic compared to so much of this list.

29. Jump Around - House Of PainFormed in LA, House Of Pain consisted of Danny Boy (Daniel O'Connor), Everlast (Erik Schrody), and DJ Lethal (Leor Dimant). Their debut single "Jump Around" was released in 1992. It peaked at #5 on the rap chart, #14 on the R&B chart, and #3 on the Hot 100. Samples "Harlem Shuffle" by Bob & Earl and "Popeye The Hitchhiker" by Chubby Checker. The most notable sample, a high-pitched squealing sound, has been a subject for debate. Some say that it came from "Gett Off" by Prince & The New Power Generation, but Everlast has denied that, saying that it came from the Divine Styler song "Ain't Sayin' Nothin". Producer DJ Muggs says the beat was offered to Cypress Hill and Ice Cube, both of whom passed on it. House Of Pain would eventually go their separate ways, with Everlast going solo and DJ Lethal joining Limp Bizkit. They later reunited as members of the group La Coka Nostra. Catching up on #60-51:
60. Love Is Blind - Eve feat. Faith Evans: Wow I'm kinda surprised seeing this having the 10th highest SD. I didn't expect this to be so polarizing. Anywho, I do really love this as I ranked this at #25. I'm sad to see this show up so soon. :( But this is a great song with so much raw and heartfelt emotion. Love both Eve and Faith in this.
59. The Power - Snap!: Aww dang, also sad to see this show up as I ranked this at #33. This is a really fun, entertaining and catchy song. I am surprised with this showing up as I thought this would have been more popular on here. But such a fun jam!
58. I Got a Man - Positive K: Ugh nooo NOT another song I love showing up, dangg. I am doing terribly here. This was my #24 so it is a song that Ido love a lot. This is such a fun and classic jam to me. Whoa I had no idea that Positive K also voices the female in the song. :o That is fascinating to learn.
57. Crossover - EPMD: Okay finally one of my lower ranks show up, this time my #83. I am not really familiar with this but from listening to this, it was okay/fine. Not a major standout but it could grow on me.
56. Renee - Lost Boyz: Nicee and now my #82 shows up right after my #83, haha. This is another song I'm not really that familiar with but I like the sound of it. Maybe with more listens this could have grown on me.
55. Guilty Conscience - Eminem feat. Dr. Dre: Ahh definitely not the biggest loss of this set but I'm sad to see this showing up already as this is my #37. This was a really good, deep single from Eminem... and I really like the story they are rapping here. This was a song I hadn't heard in so long but it was fun re-listening to this here. Interesting how this has the 5th highest SD.
54. Superthug - Noreaga: This is my #47 so it's another song that I still really enjoy. I think I am pleasantly surprised seeing this making it this high. I thought it would have been lower. But this is such a fun jam and I forgot about it until re-listening to this. But wow this did pretty well considering this doesn't have any Top 24 ranks.
53. Feel So Good - Mase: Ugh nooo, not another Top 10 loss of mine, this time my #10. Dang I had a feeling this wouldn't do so well but I was hoping this could have made it to the Top 50. Mase is no doubt a corny rapper but there's no denying that this was such a fun and entertaining rap jam. And Mase had LOTS of great jams out in the late 90s. I'm happy that there are no Bottom 10 rankings for this.
52. I'll Be - Foxy Brown feat. Jay-Z: Ahh dangg now my #29 drops out and shows up now. Sad to see this showing up. Love this jam from Foxy Brown. It's such a fun, hot jam and I really enjoy Foxy's rapping style on here. Yay for no Bottom 15 ranks though.
51. How High - Method Man & Redman: I normally like Method Man & Redman so I was surprised ranking this only at #87. I'm not really that familiar with this song and listening to it, it was fine/alright. I definitely prefer much other songs from them over this one. I wish "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" was here instead, as that very likely would have made my Top 15, possibly Top 10.

27. Back That Azz Up - Juvenile feat. Lil Wayne & Mannie FreshBorn and raised in New Orleans, Terius Gray got his big break after signing with Cash Money Records. His 1999 single "Back That Azz Up" (with the radio edit titled "Back That Thang Up") was released as the second single from his album 400 Degreez. Featuring Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh, it peaked at #9 on the rap chart, #5 on the R&B chart, and #19 on the Hot 100, and was Juvenile's biggest hit until "Slow Motion" in 2004. It also popularized the phrase "Drop it like it's hot". New Orleans rapper DJ Jubilee claimed that it sounded similar to his song "Back That Ass Up". The case was dismissed by the US 5th Circuit Court Of Appeals. I forgot βMonie In The Middleβ tapped out early.
βCan I Get Aβ¦β is one song that I want to try for karaoke, verses and hooks.
I didnβt know there was an original video for βQuiet Stormβ.
Ice Cube would sound good over the βJump Aroundβ beat. Hell, even βInsane In The Brainβ.

22. Ruff Ryders Anthem - DMXRaised in New York, Earl Simmons got his start as a beatboxer for local rapper Ready Ron. He later began producing and selling mixtapes which eventually landed him his first record deal at Columbia. His greatest success came after he signed with Def Jam. His 1998 album It's Dark And Hell Is Hot went quadruple platinum, thanks in part to the single "Ruff Ryders Anthem". It peaked at #7 on the rap chart and #33 on the R&B chart during its initial run. It charted again following his death in 2021, peaking at #9 R&B and #16 on the Hot 100. A remix by DJ Clue and also featuring Jadakiss, Styles P, Drag-On, and Eve, was released in 1999. It peaked at #16 on the R&B chart. #30. Oh I guess I missed this. Yeah this was the only remaining song in the Top 30 I didn't like. Honestly, didn't care for most of the 90s Jay-Z songs
#29. Pretty fun nostalgic song
#28. Oh hell naw, y'all did this song dirty. Super underrated as a g-funk hit, it still holds up well lyrically and production wise, this should've gone Top 10.
#27. Okay guilty pleasure but damn if it isn't fun
#26. Still incredibly creative and unique more than two decades later
#25. Pretty alright
#24. FUCK YOU ALL!!!
#23. Alright as well
#22. Not a DMX song I've replayed over and over again but a hard banger nonetheless. RIP.
#21. Love the beat and the interplay between the two on the verses, captures that freestyle jazz session vibe

20. Scenario - A Tribe Called QuestFormed in NYC, A Tribe Called Quest consisted of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor), Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White. They were originally called Crush Connection and then Quest before coming up with A Tribe Called Quest. They were also part of the Native Tongues collective. Their 1992 single "Scenario", featuring Leaders Of The New School, peaked at #6 on the rap chart and #42 on the R&B chart. It samples "Little Miss Lover" by Jimi Hendrix and "Oblighetto" by Brother Jack McDuff, and helped launch the solo career of Leaders Of The New School member Busta Rhymes. A Tribe Called Quest broke up in the late '90s, but reunited a few years later. Phife Dawg passed away in 2016 from complications of diabetes. The group performed their final concert the following year.
