Coachella got her number 1. It helped her streaming. The first 2 days of KB's streaming after the remix dropped were abysmal and then went up and she held steady all week. Morgan Wallen also slightly decreased in streaming.

What data do they even use? I don't see any of the predictors showing any clear advantage for KB.

I'm actually still thinking Morgan hangs on. The Spotify gap has been moving in his direction and KB is freefalling on iTunes and not doing hot on Apple music. I've just not seen any data that that shows momentum moving in KB's direction.

Coachella? Neither SZA nor Doja performed at the festival this year.

Also, it's not #1 yet. Morgan is very much still in this.

I'm actually thinking Morgan might get the year end #1 at this rate regardless of whether he or SZA are #1 next week. Country crossover smashes always rank really high on year-end charts given their insane longevity and the airplay triple-threat of Pop, HAC, and Country.

See Breathe #1 of 2000 and Need You Now #2 of 2010 despite never topping the Hot 100. Before He Cheats, Cruise, Body Like a Back Road, the Bones all snagging top 10 year end spots despite relatively low peaks on the weekly charts, I Hope going to #12 despite its pop run coming very late in the year. Wait what an actual multi-week #1 can do on a year-end chart.

i know talk of the charts used to be a pretty accurate chart predictor a year or 2 ago so it’s probably their own data. Not quite sure!

This is moreso a ghost release to fulfill a record deal/contract lol.

Last year HDD revealed that Twelve Carat Toothache was ready but had been postponed for months because he was attempting to get his record deal re-negotiated for $100m. The attempt fell through, the album got released and ended up flopping anyways.

Now they’re throwing out a compilation that doesn’t even have half his hits, and just has 1 new song on it.

This is what they would commonly do back in the day to end contracts/deals by meeting the album requirement (I.e., a singer has a 5 album deal and only has 4 like Post so they eventually agree to release 1 compilation to fulfill the deal and let the artist effectively move on).

Destiny’s Child did a random compilation in 2013 with 1 new song to finish their deal since they disbanded. Selena Gomez did a random compilation in 2015 with The Heart Wants to get out of Hollywood Records.

I'm actually thinking Morgan might get the year end #1 at this rate regardless of whether he or SZA are #1 next week. Country crossover smashes always rank really high on year-end charts given their insane longevity and the airplay triple-threat of Pop, HAC, and Country.

See Breathe #1 of 2000 and Need You Now #2 of 2010 despite never topping the Hot 100. Before He Cheats, Cruise, Body Like a Back Road, the Bones all snagging top 10 year end spots despite relatively low peaks on the weekly charts, I Hope going to #12 despite its pop run coming very late in the year. Wait what an actual multi-week #1 can do on a year-end chart.

Make sense. Country crossover to Pop results to several crazy longevity records. Another example is How Do I live and You were meant for me. Now I'm wondering what pushes I'm Yours to make such longevity record although it's already a Pop? We all knew Radioactive started in genre chart before crossing over.

Adult Alternative was big back in the day and helped a lot of songs get pretty crazy longevity as well--it was almost as good as AC is.

I thought PD had a shot with all the coordinated mass buying from Nicki stans (the producer was openly offering to pay people on twitter). But I'm happy that KB is finally making it official, even though like Levitating it didn't need the week at #1 as its the biggest song of the year.
