I had previously said (in a Hot 100 thread in the Chart Discussion section of this website) that Try That In A Small Town would NOT top the airplay chart. Just looking at today's rolling chart, I think I'll have to change my tune:

With Lainey Wilson successfully holding Jason at #2 and likely pushing for a 3rd week at #1 with "Watermelon Moonshine", and Morgan Wallen surging up from 7-3 with "Thinkin' Bout Me", what do we think are the chances Jason gets blocked from #1....

He’s still getting a number one even with a weak push week when he has it. The audience on this is already really high so hopefully it will get him at least a one week number one.

With how big of a gain, “Thinkin’ Bout Me” got this week, I honestly think it’ll be tough for Jason to get to #1 now. Praying this is the case, but this song even getting to #2 on radio is a fucking joke. I’m beyond ready for radio to start ushering Jason out of A-list status, so I’m hoping his next single has the tepid start this one did and doesn’t have the conservative outrage to resuscitate it.

Eh, MB can be more easily manipulated so the jury is still out on a push week netting him a #1 there, but based on Morgan's gain I'd say Jason's chances of a #1 on BB are looking highly unlikely now. "Thinkin Bout Me" will probably spend like 6 weeks at the top, especially seeing that there's almost zero competition behind him.

This should get number one with a good two week push. If this doesn’t it would be surprising considering it was a number one song on the hot 100 and still has great callouts and numbers attached to it. I think Morgan Wallen could get number one but I really feel like Aldean will get at least one week.

I'm sorry despite how big this song is, I still feel like "Thinking Bout Me” by Morgan Wallen was bigger and given everything this song stands for and promotes. I am more than happy to see it blocked at #1 on Billboard.

If this wasn't for CMT banning it and the fake outrage, this song probably stalls in the teens. I agree that everything about this song is a joke though!

I'm not that pressed. People crying about him being racist are just as annoying as the rednecks acting like the location of the video wasn't in poor taste. However, a No.1 Hit that stayed in the top 20 for months shouldn't be blocked at radio lol

This song wasn't successful because it was "good" or the general country population "liked it." It was no where to be found or heard prior to the video. This song sold because of the controversy and to stick it to the libs. So, #2 on country radio in addition to all that is way better than this song would have performed without the controversy.

Filming somewhere that something bad happened is not equivalent to waving around a confederate flag in a Klan costume. They should point it out rather than saying the song is complete garbage/ get it pulled from every station fathomable and send him threats.

It is laughable that this song only peaked at #49 in Canada, which is the second lowest peak for a song that peaked #1 in the US, as far as I can recall. Aldean tends to do well in Canada, but I am happy that Canadian radio stations still remember how to treat a trash song without falling for their strategy to turn this into a big hit using controversy
