I guess this explains why the grandson song got pulled. This took its place in the WMG slate.

Meh, not feelin' it. This won't be pulling a "Ghosts Again". Reminds me a lot of "Part Of The Band"; if they really push it hard, it might manage #15 too, and flame out similarly. I'll take the grandson song instead! :)

So Alt preferred the Grandfather over the Grandson? I'm not itching to chart this, but this isn't too terrible for a mellow vibe. It definitely has melody. I like the parts with synths.

Beautiful album.
What I love about Blur in recent years is that their music direction basically follows the relationship between Damon and Graham. The Magic Whip was a very Graham record as he was very heavily involved in production, and he was going through a midlife crisis around that time. Damon was willing to let go of a bit of control there, but snuck in a few songs that were clearly about their relationship in there.
This record however, is very Damon. He admitted that he was going through a rough patch during the pandemic, and this is a reflective record for him. Some of the songs almost feel like having Graham play on Gorillaz songs which I could never imagine happening. Graham’s background vocals over Damon’s melancholy lyrics will never not move me, especially knowing their story. It’s nice to see that after everything, they’re embracing each other through music.

Probably gonna be a Mediabase-only #1 with the last two updates, to get there before Beck (who already sealed the next Billboard #1) and Noah Kahan. A bit surprised this is doing better here than on Billboard.
