I think some people are getting a little too over-dramatic. The charts being delayed like this by a day or two happens maybe 3 or 4 times a year at most, not really that big of a deal lol, and no one is missing a meal over it. No other charts have problems like this. It's very unprofessional. It's like being hours late to work four times a year, that's just too much

This is the first Hot 100 number one to not chart on Excl US 200, right?

4. Gunna - "Fukumean"16 - 12 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 4 - +Radio: did not chart +Sales: did not chart +Streaming: #2 (peak: #1 - 1 week) One could argue that Gunna is the real outlier because it's the only song in the Top 10 that has only charted on one metric. This week and last week's #1 - both of which are controversial in their on very different ways - charted highly on two metrics.

I think some people are getting a little too over-dramatic. The charts being delayed like this by a day or two happens maybe 3 or 4 times a year at most, not really that big of a deal lol, and no one is missing a meal over it. Part of this is just impatience - we're all obsessed with charts and what the numbers asap. But with Billboard, there's also: 1) A lack of proactivity. They already give themselves 2 full days to review the numbers before reporting, which is more than other key markets. Why, in this case, did they take 3 to even vaguely acknowledge a delay? 2) A lack of transparency. We rarely get any real insight into what's causing delays ("processing issues" this week). 3) Fear of shenanigans. As far as I can remember, most of these major delays have come when the race for #1 on a key chart is very close (or, in this case, a race that mysteriously became close in the final numbers). It makes you wonder (and perhaps uncomfortable) about if there's anything "discussed" behind the scenes. Are labels/teams aware that the data is close and disputing the final numbers? And even if you totally believe this is just Billboard double-checking everything in the name of utter accuracy, and there are no label voices, arguments or politics involved, that's almost worse ... because then it calls into question the integrity of data on "normal weeks" - where there's no tight race for #1 that would warrant Billboard doing a deeper dive. Although Hits is somewhat conflicted as to what it wants its chart to be in relation to Billboard (they report their own numbers and have even criticized Billboard at times, but then seem to use Billboard numbers/rankings for historical purposes), it's not technically presented as a predictor (contrary to stan Twitter assumption). It's presented as a final chart based on actual data. So when you see 140K vs. 120K on the Hits chart, you're not expecting a "too close to call" delay in the charts. So the fact that people pretty much assumed that the delay meant Billboard would report much closer numbers underscores the aura of skepticism that exists around charts. The fact that the final numbers WERE close will do nothing to vanquish that paranoia.

I thought Mona Lisa by Dominic Fike would enter the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Hopefully next week it can finally debut.

It's very unprofessional. It's like being hours late to work four times a year, that's just too much And this sort of thing happens quite regularly at many workplaces.

Fukumean is one of the most streamed songs for the past few weeks and can't get any spins.

Explicitness is one factor, and also Calm Down is perfect H&M core music, and even the people still booping to Girls Like You on the AC station in 2023 deserve to have their preferences counted

Part of the reason why I don't like airplay, Calm Down is still on top of airplay while have peaked everywhere else. Fukumean is one of the most streamed songs for the past few weeks and can't get any spins. Radio these days is about familiarity, not breaking the hot new songs like it used to be. So it makes sense that we have these huge radio songs that consume most of the available airtime, while streaming lets everyone like what they like individually, and introduces a slew of new songs every Friday, many of which come and go quickly, or have a limited streaming audience after their initial curiosity streams. And many popular songs on streaming are explicit or don't fit the image of a station, which is a brand, something we often don't think about. This notion that streaming and radio airplay should be in sync with one another (and/or that radio should follow streaming's lead) may seem rational and sensical, but it's really not. They are largely two different audiences, but not without crossover. I'm a hybrid listener, and I think there are probably many like me. I stream the majority of music I want to hear on-demand, but I also listen to the radio at least once a day, knowing I'll get my fix for certain songs that way, exclusively. "Calm Down" is a bop when I hear it on the radio during my commute twice per day, so there's no need to stream it. Then there are other songs I personally like that radio doesn't play as much or at all, which are the songs that I choose to stream. A lot of people still enjoy morning and afternoon drive, personality-driven radio, which reliably integrates the top hits. Then there are people who don't stream at all, so their favorite station's playlist becomes their personal playlist of the songs they listen to over and over again, just like people do on streaming. It might make more sense when you consider these things.

Even though Hot 100 chart was delayed already, they still made a mistake.
#99 song is updated to be the remix, not the original (Burna Boy & Byron Messia - Talibans II).
