How did you come to this conclusion? By asking the 333 million people in this country what their favorite songs are Are they asking people what their favorite songs or are they measuring what people are listening to?

How the hell did went from criticizing a stupid song like βTTIASTβ to full blown politics? I pray that big artists start releasing hits with staying power and the 2020s finally finds it sound of the music so we can stop seeing this kind of βretaliationβ from pissed conservatives about the Biden era on the charts.

Billboard is becoming a joke. Sorry but the top 3 does not represent the 3 most popular songs in the Usa. The top songs in the Usa are between Cruel Summer, Vampire or Calm Down. The LeonaGwen Hot 100 is such a slay, its too powerful to be real I fear.

The Aldean song itself, which he didnβt even have a hand in writing, is, in my opinion, less βracistβ than it is just merelyβ¦ βlazyβ. The lyrics are so lunkheaded and mouthbreatheyβ itβs really geared towards unintelligent, gullible non-thinkers and easily gung-ho βpatriotsβ. I know these people: I have family members who fall into this category. The entire message is, βYou try that big city mess around here and we gonβ gather βround and whoop your ass, boy!β Yee-haw, hell yeah! Everyone saying it is rightβ¦ nobody wouldβve even batted an eye at this childishly written song in the first place had it not been for the video (which uses misplaced, thrown-at-the-wall imagery) getting banned by CMT. Only then did it become βcontroversialβ. The song itself is justβ¦ dumb.

In the Aldean video, all of the violence was footage from actual events. But Aldean has been around since 2005 and has never had any issues before so I take his word that this was not intended to be racist at all. Both of these statements are false. Stock footage was used in the music video, and Aldean has been involved in several controversies over the years that include blackface, public infidelity, and being tied to his wife's transphobic tirades.

It's one week with all three in the top 3 slot. It's not that serious. They were the most popular songs in America last week. Only two will survive and remain top 5 next week.
Why give it that much energy?

Stock footage is correct, some of it happened in Europe. I only said that it was from actual events which to the best of my knowledge is true. In other words, none of that was acting, from a movie, etc.

Snide comments like this are irritating - the poster has an opinion, logically refute it if you want instead of being snarky. For the record, I disagree that this is a tactic by the media to "manipulate people" in this particular case but it is absolutely true that the media in the U.S. is total garbage, biased, slanted, etc. For example, Biden got mildly criticized by the media for not recognizing his 4-year-old grandchild. If that were Trump instead of Biden, with the same exact story, he would have gotten absolutely slammed. Complete double standard. People here would do well to not be so narrow minded. In the Aldean video, all of the violence was footage from actual events. No actors. I remember the summer of 2020 when riots broke out in many U.S. cities... I believe more white people committed the violence than black people. The song mentions race exactly zero times and is about deviant behavior (car jacking an old lady, robbing a liquor store, etc) The song is similar in tone to past country songs like "Simple Man" by Charlie Daniels, "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr. I can understand why some people are bothered by the video, I can see both sides. On one hand a lynching that happened at the courthouse in 1927 - I wouldn't have known that if I was approached to make a video there. On the other hand, you have people on your team that research these things so... But Aldean has been around since 2005 and has never had any issues before so I take his word that this was not intended to be racist at all. Provocative yes, racist no. And going back to my earlier point, you have thousands of people in YouTube comments that agree with me compared to a few dozen people here on pulse. I don't like to weigh in on non-chart related topics however as I do try and follow board rules (even though that doesn't stop most other people). So if anyone wants to respectfully chat further personally with me, please send me a PM. Since we should be talking about the charts here, the thing I've been questioning recently is the rise in country music on the Hot 100. If you were to say a year ago that the top 3 songs were all country songs while the new single from Travis Scott "only" reached #7, I wouldn't have believed it. Question - is this a result of just more long-time country fans finally starting to steam more or is country music genuinely rising in overall popularity? Maybe a combination of the two? {I wont get bog down the thread too much but Ill do my one serious reply today. }
1. I'll respond snarky if I want to and I'll respond thoughtfully if I feel like it. I don't like US News Media either and I think it's also shit but I'm also not going to entertain any people that say it's out to distract people from "the truth" regarding certain ridiculous conspiracy theories. If yoou want a convo about the things wrong with news media, I'm willing to have that just not with people wearing tin foil.
2. I won't discuss the whole "it doesn't mention race" part or the bit that "he didn't know" because that's been discussed elsewhere but to the whole "thousands of people agree with me bit"...that actually doesn't prove anything, that just means there's people that agree with you. I could find thousands of people who think the Earth is flat, that doesn't mean the position is correct or that I'm in the right because I have support. Same thing here. Like I mentioned before, Iβve seen that happen several times in several countries. Iβve been to a lot of places so my arguments are valid. You can choose to believe or not, you have your right to stand for you believe in as I do.

By asking the 333 million people in this country what their favorite songs are Are they asking people what their favorite songs or are they measuring what people are listening to? Sarcasm. Itβs in the dictionary. Look it up

Where is Popular on the Hot 100? We'll find out tomorrow due to an unknown reason why we didn't get anything today It has something to do with processing issues regarding the Billboard 200, since the top 10 for that chart hasn't been announced yet.

The fact a small group of 1,000 fans can steal the #1 by bolk buying and hoarding as many as sales they want, record labels executives can talk down with Billboard executives to steal the #1 spot, labels purposely lowering sales to a cheaper price (if you wanted to know why βOne Sweet Dayβ held at No. 1 for so long then dropped this is the reason why) or giving false reports to retail stores to steal the #1 spot βall tells me that Billboard was already was a joke since the day the Hot 100 was introduced in 1958. I do like pre-1992 Billboard Hot 100 much better when there was quicker turnover. I like how songs had to rise to #1 after several weeks and then after it hit its peak would drop off the chart rather quickly. Songs that lasted only 15 weeks total on the chart are more memorable than today's hits. I am not a huge fan of these songs nowadays debuting at #1. The artists' fans just pushing for them to achieve a #1 regardless of the quality of the song. This is preventing newer artists from finding mainstream success, allowing songs to organically grow and become long lasting classics.

Pulse is an interesting place, at least for those that monitor the weekly Hot 100 threads. I search through YouTube and find several "reaction" videos, many by black people, and the overwhelming take is that the Aldean song is not racist. Hmmm... Yeah. It's a funny thing with the Internet, you go from website to website and people have completely different views on things. On other forums it's the consensus that the song isn't racist, even great. Personally I agree that the song isn't racist, but I've voiced my opinion on here, everybody else has. I know I'm probably not going to change anybody's mind, so I just let it go. Everybody is allowed to have their own opinions, even though sometimes we can't understand why. But there are other people who think I am crazy for my opinions too. So it is what it is. I personally think Jason Aldean has been criticised unfairly over this in the press and on sites like Twitter, but thankfully he's got a lot of support from the public and on sites like Youtube so it's not too bad, the criticism doesn't bother me, I just have to accept people won't like it. Yeah I agree. I personally donβt think the song is racist either and I think the outrage over it is insane. The comments on here are all negative but thatβs ok because the YouTube comments are all positive.

As the Hot 100 top 10 has already been announced, why can't Billboard upload all the new tracks charts?

This year, it has felt like there's some holiday / issue every week that delays the Hot 100. At this point I'm not surprised, just dissapointed

The way the UK, Australia (among other countries) official charts were published FIVE days ago. Billboard already gives themselves an extra 3 days before they publish their charts each week. There's literally no reason it needs to take that long much less the 5+ days it's taking this week (especially since they shifted the airplay tracking period which was their old excuse for announcing the H100 top ten on Monday and publishing the charts on Tuesday)
The new tracking week ends in 36 hours...

Omg guys, as it turns out the reason for the long delays is that there's actually been a huge change in the formula and this is now the Top 10

^ Um, #6 in the 'new' chart is *not* an improvement. Beyonce already cancelled her!
I do wonder if it's related to VPN issues. Been interesting to watch the multiple versions of a certain track surge during the evening/overnight US hours. Probably not a coincidence.
