^It will interesting to see how many more weeks Calm Down will manage in the Hot 100. Once it dips below #25 it's gone, and it'll probably not be back seeing how Sure Thing and Die For You didn't come back after leaving the chart with radio/streaming gains. If Drake has a big debut, he could easily do it.

I know it is for the 10/14 thread not yet created but does anyone think Ed Sheeran will do anything with his new cd? He has the "Surprise" factor this time around in that it will all be new music that no one has heard prior to release (besides his live tour teases over the last few weeks). I wonder if radio or streaming will latch on to something.

Doja Cat Eyes Next ‘Scarlet’ Hit With ‘Agora Hills’
Last week (Sept. 22), Doja Cat unleashed her Scarlet album — and while she’s already topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Paint the Town Red,” she could be gearing up for her next smash from the somewhat divisive new record.
“Agora Hills,” a sensual R&B-rap hybrid that features a verse rapped entirely in Valley Girl vocal fry, has emerged as one of Scarlet’s most promising future singles. According to Luminate, “Agora Hills” has collected over 8.4 million official on-demand U.S. streams since its Sept. 22 release. The song scored its biggest daily streams total (2.43 million) on release day, and it never dipped below 1.91 million daily streams during the period of Sept. 22-25.
The official Hannah Lux Davis-directed music video, which arrived alongside the LP’s full release, has already garnered over 5.7 million views on YouTube, and over on TikTok, the official “Agora Hills” sound has earned over 14,400 posts. Outside of “Paint the Town Red,” “Agora Hills” has consistently been the most streamed Scarlet track on both US Apple Music and US Spotify since the album’s release.
Although “Paint the Town Red” is still going strong, “Agora Hills” is already making a strong case to become the next hit from Scarlet. With endless meme potential, a true earworm of a hook and a sound that recalls her Grammy-nominated Hot 100 top 10 hit “Need to Know,” “Agora Hills” could very well become one of the main anthems for cuffing season ’23. – KYLE DENIS

Will Tate McRae have an advantage of becoming a legit pop star? Her song Greedy seems to be doing very good worldwide.

Agonia Hills or whatever, don’t really care about. Just happy TROOP’s beautiful cover of the Jackson 5 song will finally be in the Top 10 of the Hot 100.

Just a song Drake dropped to tide fans over since he delayed his album. the way you say this but consider "Balut" and "Demons" failed Doja cat singles I know you get off of quoting my posts only to ever do whatever you think this is but I can assure you, it isn't the serve you think it is lmao. For one, Attention/Demons dropped with music videos. I know that along with Balut, they were all promo singles, but I only remarked on how they failed because mere weeks after they dropped, they'd left the entire Spotify/Apple Music top 200 charts. Balut never even entered the Apple Music top 200 chart. How is that not a failure for someone of Doja Cat's caliber? It's not like I expected any of them to peak in the Hot 100 top 40 or anything but their performance on streaming led me to suggest that perhaps Doja's fans really don't care for her rap songs and perhaps that will be even more evident when the album eventually dropped. Some of you here acted like I was being mean to Doja and hoping she'd flop but the album has dropped now and we see how it's performing outside of PTTR/AH.

A 5-minute R&B album cut does not a smash make. It isn't even a single. Just a song Drake dropped to tide fans over since he delayed his album. You don’t get SZA (in her biggest year) on a song that you don’t want to be a hit. Okay, as long as we're abandoning all common sense now.

For many arguments happen here, my usual comment is that it's not an all-or-nothing scenario. Of course one of main reasons of Drake collaborating with SZA is to use her clout, but given the length, it is not a full-on commercial song.
Hope that helps.

such a shame SYO "stole" one week at #1 from PTTR. I know it was a legit #1 in terms of streaming numbers, but I think those streams were mostly out of curiosity.

I’m not gonna come for your intelligence like you did me, but “common sense” clearly points to the fact that you are the first person in this thread to call an artist’s single a flop when it slightly underperforms or blame a songs success on TikTok - but you will come up with about any excuse in the book for when it’s him when in reality the song just isn’t really connecting with people. And btw this is coming from someone who decently likes the song.

We learned with Honestly, Nevermind that when Drake plays against what his fanbase wants, they won't be pushing repeat. This song skews way more R&B. I like it, but clearly his core wants more straight-forward hip-hop.
Very similar to what happened to Doja. "Attention," "Demons," and "Balut" challenged her fanbase. But with PTTR and AH, it proves when she hits the right spot, they have no issues getting on board.

Okay, as long as we're abandoning all common sense now. And btw this is coming from someone who decently likes the song. Well, I never insulted your intelligence. I didn't call you dumb or stupid. I said you're '' abandoning all common sense'' because you're willingly acting obtuse with regards to SYO. You saying Drake releasing a song, whatever it might be, featuring SZA, must mean his intention was to score a hit, is silly. Anyone who heard SYO and knows what the singles off Drake's albums usually sound like, along with the fact that the song was never promoted even in the usual ways Drake's singles get promoted, knew it wasn't a traditional single and neither was it a song Drake would release to score a hit. We only got that song because he delayed his album yet again and he wanted to give fans something off it to hold on to. Otherwise, it would only have dropped as part of the entire album, which is how Drake has delivered, I don't know, his last 3 studio albums? Oh and by the way, I don't know why everyone here suddenly doesn't understand context whenever someone dares to call the performance of Scarlet's promo singles what they were, which is that they were flops. For the last time, I never expected them to score high peaks on the Hot 100 or magically become runaway hits, I'm strictly referring to their performance on streaming platforms. But if even SZA had dropped promo singles off SOS and they all completely left or never even debuted on the Apple Music/Spotify top 200 charts, especially after a breakthrough era like Doja Cat had with Planet Her, I would also call them flops. As for me attributing the success of all her smash hits to TikTok virality, that is also another fact. Doesn't take away from her talent nor does it take away from her hitmaking abilities, but calling an artist who historically only scores smash hits after they've gone viral on TikTok, is somehow being hateful? When it is factual? Really? We learned with Honestly, Nevermind that when Drake plays against what his fanbase wants, they won't be pushing repeat. This song skews way more R&B. I like it, but clearly his core wants more straight-forward hip-hop. Very similar to what happened to Doja. "Attention," "Demons," and "Balut" challenged her fanbase. But with PTTR and AH, it proves when she hits the right spot, they have no issues getting on board. Exactly. If Drake had released any songs off Honestly, Nevermind outside of Sticky/Jimmy Cooks as promo singles, they would have very likely flopped as well on the charts because his fans wouldn't support those songs types of songs from him on their own. Drake purposely placed the sole traditional rap song off Honestly, Nevermind as the last song on the album and that is still the song that debuted at #1 and is by far the most consumed song off the album today, proving that his fans will only ever truly support his music when it's rap-leaning (or in some cases, the right kind of pop music). Trying to paint SYO as a ''flop'' is ridiculous to me, especially seeing as it not only managed to debut at #1 but is also projected to retain a spot in the top 20 in its second week. We have a dozen #1 singles this decade alone that were actually pushed/promoted as such, which performed even worse than that. When I brought up the performance of Scarlet's promo singles on streaming (specifically Apple Music), I did so because it pointed to Doja Cat's fans not caring much for her more rap-heavy songs and I dared to suggest that it might mean the album itself might not perform anywhere as well as Planet Her or even Hot Pink did and how that might eventually lead to her team/label urging her to go back to her more pop-flavored offerings since that's what her fans love/support the most from her but somehow, that read as me being hateful of Doja Cat's music. How that registered as such with anybody, I will never understand, but it is what it is. Most people on here get in their feelings and throw all sense of context out the window whenever anyone dares to say anything critical or even factual about an artist they like. I should have remembered that before speaking on Doja Cat on here. My bad lol.

thegreatdivine is a Drake fan, but probably the most levelheaded fan on this whole board who is willing to critically assess her musician choice — the debate on the forum would be a lot better if more people were more like her (especially folks up in arms over the Doja criticism)

Anytime anyone dares to challenge the commercial success of a Pulse fave, everyone on here acts pressed and makes it seem like you're being a bully for pointing out the obvious and Pulse faves are only ever female acts. Meanwhile, anytime a Pulse non-fave is doing massive damage on the charts, people on here will either dismiss it or act like anyone acknowledging the success of said Pulse non-fave has terrible taste in music or is condoning bad behavior. Never fails lmao.
