This is despite all the Christmas music and two new prominent albums. It would’ve been top ten without the Christmas music and it’s still just beginning its rise in the west (akin to “Die for You” which also blew up in Southeast Asia before it smashed globally). Looks like we have one of the 2024’s biggest hits forming here.

This is basically what I would expect a Nicki Minaj album in 2023 to debut with on Spotify tbh For comparison Smile did less than 8M first day Are we really comparing Nicki Minaj (two top 10 singles this year) with Katy Perry (redefined the flop era 6 years ago) now I mean, will Pink Friday 2 ever outstream Smile? Yeah she was never a Spotify darling and that's okay. Things can change, who really knows? 6 songs debuting amongst everything else/Christmas songs is good!

Yeah these Spotify numbers are almost shocking lol. Debuting at 4 with the best performing track (with no Christmas songs) is aggressively mediocre for how pushed it’s being by the Barbz and how big of a name she is with a global hit only months ago. Maybe Everybody continues to be a standout and climb, maybe AM makes up for the Spotify performance. But regardless unless a hit manifests…. It’s giving Queen 2.0

The weeknd never fails with the sleeper hits, although I was incredibly surprised at it's terrible performance when it initially came out because it sounded like a SMASH - although it's lack of promo and playlisting could be a factor. Truly a fantastic song, all 3 artists truly killed it which is rare |

That those debut numbers on Spotify are pretty good considering a 4 year old song from Katy Perry that didn't enter the Hot 100 was outstreaming all three release on the platform the day before the album dropped? That the hype wasn't really there? Idk plenty of things to make out of this comparison. I stand by what I said. 28 million streams is pretty much on par, if not above, what anyone familiar with her performance on Spotify would expect. |

Doesn't seem like the live performance of RATCT did much effect on the charts. The re-air on 12/20 may do slightly more damage I guess.
Interesting that Santa Tell Me - Naughty Version was a vinyl exclusive rather than a recently made version. Again don't feel like it will do much except if/when stans bought them.

^ In terms of the race for #1, that's still pretty close. Brenda's team could always make a last minute move like 2 weeks ago.
"Jingle Bell Rock" looks like it's inching away from "Last Christmas," so not sure if the latter can pass it this season.
It does look like Kelly and Ariana will both get another top 10 this season with their respective holiday songs. Meanwhile not exactly Hot 100 related, but I didn't realize "STM" is already a top 5 worldwide holiday hit. Modern classic.
